Lost EDD account email - can't reach agent for SDI filing - help!
I'm in a serious bind and getting anxious. I made a special email account just for my EDD stuff back in 2020 during the pandemic, and now I can't remember what it is! I also don't have my password saved anywhere. I need to file for State Disability Insurance ASAP due to a medical issue, but I can't get into my account. I've been calling the EDD for DAYS but just get endless loops of automated messages or "all agents are busy" and then disconnected. Does anyone have a working phone number to reach an actual human at EDD who can help reset my account? I really need to submit my SDI claim this week and I'm getting desperate. Has anyone dealt with this recently?

•I tried that yesterday but by the time I got through the automated menu it was already saying all agents were busy! Does it matter which number I'm calling? I've been using the main EDD number.

The recovery process depends on what information you still have. If you remember your SSN and personal details, but not the email, you can try the Account Recovery option on the EDD login page. Click on "Forgot Email Address" and it'll prompt you for your personal identifying information. If that doesn't work, the SDI-specific phone number is 1-800-480-3287. It's often less busy than the regular unemployment line. Call at 8:00 AM sharp on Tuesday or Wednesday (their least busy days) and press 1 for English, then 7 for technical assistance with your account, NOT the options for filing a claim. Be prepared with your Social Security Number, California ID or driver's license number, and any previous EDD Customer Account Number if you have it.

•Thank you so much for the detailed info! I didn't know there was a separate SDI number. I'll definitely try it first thing tomorrow morning with the exact sequence you suggested. I do have my social and CA license ready.

This is why I HATE the EDD system!! They make everything so complicated and impossible to reach anyone. I had the exact same issue trying to file for disability last year after my surgery. Called 47 times in one day - NOT EXAGGERATING!!! And still couldn't get through. The system is deliberately designed to make you give up.

Have you checked your browser's saved passwords? Sometimes they're stored there even if you don't remember saving them. Also, if you made the email specifically for EDD, maybe try looking through your main email accounts for any forwarded messages from EDD that might contain clues about what address you used?

•I actually tried checking my saved passwords but no luck. I also searched my main email for any EDD forwards but couldn't find anything helpful. I think I created a whole new Gmail account just for this and now I'm paying the price for being "organized" ðŸ˜

I was in the exact same boat last month trying to reach EDD for weeks with no luck. Then I discovered this service called Claimyr that got me through to an EDD representative in under 20 minutes. It basically calls for you and holds your place in line, then calls you when an agent is available. Totally saved me from the endless redial nightmare. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Once I got through, the agent was able to help me recover my account by verifying my identity. Just make sure you have your SSN and ID ready when they call you back.

•It seriously worked for me. I was skeptical too, but after trying to get through for two weeks on my own, I was desperate. The agent was able to help me with my account recovery and I was able to file my claim that same day.

For recovering your EDD account when you've forgotten both email and password, here's what you need to do: 1. For SDI specifically, call 1-800-480-3287 (as someone mentioned above) 2. If you still can't get through, you can also try visiting an EDD office in person. They can verify your identity and help reset account access. Bring multiple forms of ID including your Social Security card, driver's license, and any EDD paperwork you might have. 3. Another option: if this is for State Disability Insurance specifically, you can actually file a new claim using paper forms instead of needing your online account. The DE 2501 form can be requested by mail or picked up at an office. This might be faster than trying to recover your account if you're in a hurry to file. The good news is that SDI claims can be backdated to your first day of disability (with proper medical documentation), so even if there's a delay in filing, you won't lose benefits as long as you file within 49 days of your disability starting.

•Thank you so much for these options! I didn't realize I could file on paper too - that's great to know. My disability started last week so I still have time. I'm going to try calling the SDI number first thing tomorrow, but if that doesn't work, I'll look into the paper application as a backup plan. Really appreciate the comprehensive advice!

•Yes! I finally got through using the SDI-specific number that was suggested (1-800-480-3287). Called right at 8:00 AM and only waited about 25 minutes. The rep was able to help me recover my account after verifying my identity. They asked for my full name, SSN, address, and some questions about my previous claims. I was able to file my SDI claim right after. Hope this helps and good luck!

So glad to hear you got through @Carmen! That gives me hope. I'm dealing with a similar situation but for regular unemployment benefits - lost access to my account after changing phones and can't remember my security questions. Has anyone had success using that same SDI number (1-800-480-3287) for regular UI issues, or do I need to stick with the main unemployment line? I've been trying the main number for over a week with no luck.

•@Sean Matthews Unfortunately, the SDI number 1-800-480-3287 (is) specifically for State Disability Insurance claims only - they won t'be able to help with regular unemployment benefits. For UI account recovery, you ll'need to stick with the main EDD number 1-833-978-2511 (or) try the technical support line at 1-800-300-5616. I know it s'frustrating, but those are separate systems. Try calling the technical support line right at 8 AM - sometimes it s'less busy than the main UI line. Also make sure you have your Social Security number, ID, and any old EDD correspondence ready when you do get through. Good luck!

If you're still having trouble getting through by phone, another option is to contact your local Assembly or Senate representative's office. They often have dedicated EDD liaisons who can help with urgent cases like yours. I had to do this for my mom when she couldn't get through for her disability claim. Just call their district office and explain it's an urgent SDI filing issue - they usually respond within 1-2 business days and can sometimes get things resolved faster than going through the normal channels. You can find your representatives at findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov. Worth trying if the direct calling doesn't work out!

•That's really helpful advice about contacting representatives! I never thought of that option. Quick question - when you contacted them for your mom, did you need to provide any specific documentation or just explain the situation? I'm wondering if I should gather any paperwork before reaching out to make the process smoother.
