PA UC payment without ID.me verification? Using PAT for weekly claims

Hey everyone, I'm really freaking out and hoping someone here can help me. I've been filing my weekly PA unemployment claims through PAT (Pennsylvania Automated Telephone system), and it's been working fine. But now I got a notice saying I need to do this ID.me verification thing? The problem is my phone is old and crashes whenever I try to load the ID.me page. I don't have a computer at home either. Will PA UC still pay me my benefits if I keep filing through the phone system but can't complete the ID.me thing? I really need this money for rent next week and I'm panicking!

they wont pay u if u dont do the id.me thing. my cousin had this exact problem. uc payments stopped for 3 weeks until he went to the library and used their computer to do the id.me verification. u should try that

Omg that's terrifying. I don't even have a library card! Do you think I could use the computers at the library without one? I can't go 3 weeks without a payment!!!

Don't panic yet! The ID.me verification is mandatory, but there are some options for you. PA UC uses this system to prevent fraud, so yes, payments will eventually stop if you don't complete it. Here are your options: 1. Public libraries typically allow computer use even without a library card (just bring ID) 2. Ask a friend or family member to use their computer or tablet 3. Visit your local PA CareerLink office - they have computers available for unemployment-related tasks 4. Call the UC Service Center and explain your technology limitations - they may be able to offer an alternative verification method Just keep filing your weekly claims through PAT while you work on the ID.me verification. You usually have about 14 days to complete it before payments are suspended.

Thank you SO MUCH for this info!! I'll try the library tomorrow. Do you know if CareerLink needs an appointment? That might be easier since it's closer to my house than the library.

Had the SAME STUPID ISSUE last month!!! The ID.me system is GARBAGE and crashed on me 4 TIMES before it worked! The state doesn't care if you have tech problems - they'll just hold your money and expect you to figure it out. It's RIDICULOUS how they treat us!!

While ID.me can definitely be frustrating, it has actually reduced fraud significantly. But you're right that there should be better alternatives for people with technology limitations. If anyone needs help with ID.me, the UC Service Center now has staff specifically trained to help with verification issues.

When I had ID.me troubles during my claim, I tried calling the UC Service Center hundreds of times and just got busy signals or disconnected. So frustrating! I finally used Claimyr.com to get through to an agent who helped me with the verification. They have a service that connects you to UC within minutes instead of hours of redialing. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. Totally saved me when I was in a similar situation.

Does that actually work? I've been trying to get thru to UC for 2 days about my open issue and keep getting busy signals. Might try this

My neighbor went through this last month. Your weekly claims through PAT will process but they hold the payments until ID.me is done. So keep doing those weekly claims! Once you verify, they release all the held payments at once. She used her daughter's laptop to do the ID.me thing.

That's good to know! At least I won't lose the payments completely if there's a delay. I'll keep filing through PAT and try to get the ID.me done ASAP.

Just to clarify some information here: ID.me verification is required by federal guidelines to prevent fraud. The Pennsylvania UC system gives claimants approximately 14 days to complete verification before payments are paused. To address your specific situation: 1. Continue filing weekly claims through PAT 2. CareerLink offices can typically accommodate walk-ins for UC-related computer use, but calling ahead is recommended 3. Most libraries offer computer use without requiring a library card 4. If you're still having difficulties, call the UC Service Center at 1-888-313-7284 and request an alternative verification method due to technology limitations Once verification is complete, any held payments will be released (assuming there are no other issues with your claim).

Thank you for all this clear information! I called my local CareerLink and they said I can come in tomorrow morning without an appointment. Hopefully I can get this ID.me thing done in one visit.

Good news! I just checked and you'll need: - Government-issued photo ID (driver's license or state ID) - Social Security Number - Email address you can access - Phone number for verification codes If you don't have an email, the CareerLink staff can help you create one. The whole process usually takes about 15-20 minutes if everything goes smoothly. Glad to hear you got an appointment! Let us know how it goes.
