Uploaded docs to NY unemployment portal but no confirmation - should I mail them too?

Just got an email from unemployment asking for some additional documents for my claim verification. I clicked the link in the email which took me to the ny.gov site where I had to log in. After logging in, I uploaded all the requested documents (pay stubs, ID, etc.) on Tuesday. It's now Friday and I haven't received any kind of confirmation that they got my stuff. The upload page didn't even give me a confirmation number or anything when I finished. Now I'm worried that maybe they didn't receive my documents or something went wrong. Should I also fax or mail physical copies just to be safe? Anyone else deal with this? I really can't afford to have my claim delayed because of some technical glitch.

Same thing happened to me last month. I waited for like 2 weeks for confirmation and got nothing. Called them and they said they never received my documents! Had to upload everything again. This time I took screenshots of the upload confirmation page just to have proof. The system is completely broken.

Oh great, that's exactly what I was afraid of. Did calling actually help you get it sorted out?

Yeah but it took FOREVER to get through. I was on hold for over 3 hours before someone picked up. If ur worried I'd try calling but be prepared to wait all day.

I had this exact problem back in September! The ny unemployment website is garbage. I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an actual person on the phone. They called and stayed on hold, then connected me when an agent picked up. Talking to an agent got my payments unlocked so fast! Best decision I made was using them instead of wasting days trying to get through myself. Check out this video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

100% real. I was skeptical too but after trying for 2 weeks to reach someone I was desperate. They call, wait on hold, then call you when an agent answers. Saved me hours of frustration.

yeah right, another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? 🙄

No catch - they just do the waiting for you. My claim was stuck for 3 weeks until I got through to someone who fixed it in 5 mins. Worth every penny when you're missing entire payments.

I actually used this last week and it worked. Got a callback in about 45 minutes. The agent fixed my issue right away. claimyr.com saved me from losing my mind on hold music lol

I would def mail copies as backup. The online system is super glitchy and they somehow lose documents all the time. Better safe than sorry. I always send stuff certified mail so I have proof they received it.

It takes them like 2-3 weeks to process anything. The system never sends confirmations. It's stupid but that's how it works. Just wait it out, your claim will probably update eventually.

So FYI the ny.gov site has been having major technical issues since they "upgraded" last month. When you upload documents, they go into a queue that can take up to 10 business days to process according to the rep I spoke with. What I would recommend: 1. Take screenshots of everything for your records 2. Call them directly to confirm receipt (easier said than done) 3. If you can't get through by phone, try connecting through their message center on the website 4. As a last resort, mail physical copies with a cover letter explaining you already submitted online The whole system is a mess right now with the backlog. I had success using claimyr.com to actually reach someone by phone after trying for days on my own. They connect you directly with an agent who can check if your documents are in the system. Talking to a live person was the only way I got my issue resolved. Also, document EVERY interaction - names, dates, what was said. You'll need this if they later claim they never received something. Don't trust their system to work properly right now.

THIS!!! 💯 Documentation is absolutely key. They tried to tell me I never submitted my W2 even though I had proof I did.

Anyone else think its weird they send these requests through email? I almost deleted mine cuz I thought it was a phishing scam.

SAME! The link looked sketchy af but it was actually legit. Their emails look like they were designed in 1997 🤣

Always double check the email sender. Official ones come from @labor.ny.gov domains. Anything else is probably a scam trying to steal your info.

yeah I know but even the real ones look fake as hell. terrible design.

i had to fax AND upload. seems redundant but thats what worked for me. the fax number should be on their website somewhere.

KEEP CALLING THEM!!!! Don't just wait around or you'll be waiting forever. The unemployment system doesn't care if your rent is due. You gotta be aggressive and keep trying to get through.

True but calling is basically impossible. I tried for 2 weeks straight and couldn't get through. busy signals and disconnects every time.

Try using claimyr.com - it's what finally worked for me when I couldn't get through on my own

I looked everywhere and don't see anything like that. The website is so confusing.

go to My Documents section, then View All Documents. if anything was successfully uploaded it should show there with a date stamp

After THREE MONTHS of dealing with exactly this problem, here's what I learned: The NY unemployment system is completely swamped and their document processing system is trash. What worked for me: 1) Call and speak to an actual human. This is nearly impossible through normal means - I used claimyr.com after wasting days trying to get through myself. 2) Get the agent to check if your documents are viewable in their system. Often they're uploaded but not properly linked to your claim. 3) If they can't see them, ask for an email address where you can directly send them. Some agents will provide this. 4) Request a "claim note" be added stating you attempted to submit documents on X date. 5) Follow up WEEKLY until it's resolved. Don't just wait and hope. Be proactive. The system is designed to make you give up. DON'T.

Did you try checking your claim status online? Sometimes it'll update there even if they don't send a confirmation.

Pro tip: screenshots, screenshots, screenshots. Document EVERYTHING. Save confirmation pages, emails, take pics of faxed documents with the confirmation page. NY unemployment will 100% try to claim they never got your stuff.
