NY unemployment document deadline panic - sent docs last night but no receipt
I just uploaded all my income verification documents for NY unemployment last night at like 11:45pm, but I didn't get any kind of confirmation email or receipt. Is today actually the final deadline? The letter I got said I had 7 days from March 18th, 2025 to submit everything. I'm freaking out that maybe they didn't go through or that I missed something. Has anyone else had this problem? How long does it usually take to get a confirmation that they received my documents?

dont worry bout it!! my brother had same issue last month. it can take 24-48 hrs for the system to send receipt emails. as long as you submitted before midnight you should be fine

•Thank you for responding! That makes me feel a little better. I just wish they would make it clearer on the website. I took screenshots of the upload page just in case.

The NYSDOL system is actually quite reliable with document uploads, but their notification system can be delayed. If you uploaded your documents before the deadline (which would be by 11:59 PM today if your letter stated 7 days from March 18th), you should be fine. The system records the timestamp of your submission internally even if you don't receive a confirmation email right away. If you're concerned, I recommend checking your NY.gov account dashboard under the "Messages" section. Sometimes confirmations appear there before they're emailed out. Also make sure to check your spam folder. You did the right thing by submitting before the deadline!

•I didn't even think to check the Messages section! Just looked and nothing there yet either. But it's good to know the system records the timestamp internally. I'll keep checking throughout the day.

Honestly this happens to everyone. The NYSDOL system is SO broken. I never got a receipt for my documents either and was panicking for days. Then a week later they just randomly approved my claim without ever sending a confirmation that they got my docs. Their communication is terrible!!!!

To clarify about the deadline: If your letter is dated March 18, 2025, and gives you 7 days to respond, then your deadline is actually TODAY (March 25, 2025) at 11:59pm. The system counts 7 calendar days, not business days. Your upload at 11:45pm last night was definitely within the timeframe. The NYSDOL system timestamps all submissions on their backend database even when the confirmation emails are delayed. If you can log into your account and see the documents listed as "Submitted" in your document section, that's another indication they were received. If you're really concerned, take a screenshot of your submission page as evidence just in case there's any dispute later, but you should be fine.

•Thank you for confirming the deadline! I can see in my account that the status says "Processing" next to the documents, so I guess that means they went through? I did take screenshots last night just to be safe. I just wish they'd make this whole process clearer.

I had almost the same thing happen to me last month! Sent in my documentation late at night and didn't get a confirmation until almost THREE DAYS later! I was totally freaking out. But my claim went through just fine. The DOL is just really slow with sending confirmations for some reason. BTW, I'm curious what documents did they ask you to submit? For me they wanted like 2 years of tax returns plus a bunch of other stuff which seemed excessive.

•They asked me for my 2024 tax return, my last 3 pay stubs, and some form saying why I left my job (which was really confusing because I already submitted that when I first applied). I'm glad to hear yours went through even with the delayed confirmation!

•Yeah thats pretty much what they asked me for too. The whole system is redundant...they always ask for the same info multiple times. So annoying but at least sounds like you got everything in on time!

Just to give you some peace of mind: When you see "Processing" in your account, that's confirmation that the system has received your documents. That status indicates they're in the queue for review by a claims examiner. The fact that you can see this status means your submission was successful and recorded in their system before the deadline. The email confirmations are separate from the actual document processing system and sometimes experience delays or technical issues. Most claims are reviewed within 7-10 business days after documents show as "Processing," though it can take longer during high-volume periods.

•Thank you so much for explaining this! That definitely makes me feel better seeing the "Processing" status. I'll just be patient now and wait for them to review everything.

This happened to me last year and I spent 3 days trying to get thru to someone at unemployment. Finally got thru and they said my docs were fine even tho I never got any email. The whole system is garbage

•THREE DAYS?! You got lucky. I tried for TWO WEEKS straight trying to get through to someone. The phone system is completely broken. I don't understand why they can't hire more people to answer the phones when so many of us are struggling!

I think we're all missing the most important thing here - screenshot EVERYTHING when dealing with unemployment! I screenshot every page, every confirmation, every submission. I even take pictures of physical mail they send me. The system is so broken that the only way to protect yourself is having evidence of everything you did and when you did it.

•You're absolutely right! I've been taking screenshots of everything since I first applied. I just wish I didn't have to be so paranoid about the whole process.

Just checking back in - any updates? Did you ever receive a confirmation email or has your status changed from "Processing"?

•Thanks for checking! I actually just received an email confirmation about an hour ago - almost 24 hours after I submitted everything. The status in my account still says "Processing" but at least I know for sure they received everything before the deadline. Such a relief!

•Great news! This is the normal process flow. First the status changes to "Processing" in the system, then you get the email confirmation (usually within 24-48 hours), and then it moves to "Under Review" when an examiner is actively looking at your documents. After that, it will change to either "Approved" or they'll request additional information if needed. Glad everything worked out!
