NY unemployment DocuSign verification email never arrived - claim stuck
Hoping someone can help me with this verification mess. I filed for NY unemployment last Wednesday (March 12, 2025) and got to the part where they said they'd send a DocuSign verification email within 24-48 hours. It's been almost a week now and I've got NOTHING in my inbox or spam folder. My claim is just sitting there with status 'pending identity verification' and the bills are piling up. I've tried calling the NYSDOL number about 30 times but can't get through - just endless hold music then disconnected. I checked my contact info in the system and everything is correct. Has anyone else had this problem with the verification email never showing up? Did you do anything that worked to fix it? I'm getting desperate here.

This exact thing happened to me in January. The DocuSign email went to my spam folder but then got automatically deleted before I saw it. Call the verification department directly at 888-209-8124 and press 2, then 1, then 2. They can resend the DocuSign email while you're on the phone. Don't wait longer because if you don't complete the verification within 10 days of your initial claim, they might deny it and you'll have to appeal.

•Thanks for the quick response. I swear I've been checking my spam folder every few hours and nothing's there. I'll try calling that direct line tomorrow morning. Did you have to wait long to get through? And do I need to have any specific info ready when I call?

The 888 number is USELESS!!!!! I tried for TWO WEEKS straight and never got through. The system is DELIBERATELY designed to keep us from reaching anyone. They don't want to pay benefits so they make it impossible to fix problems. I finally had to send a certified letter to the Albany office AND contact my state assemblyman's office before anyone would help me. What a joke.

•While I understand your frustration, sending a certified letter is overkill at this stage. The verification department is actually separate from the regular unemployment line, and typically has shorter wait times. I'd try the direct number first before escalating to those measures.

•I didn't think of that! I'm using Gmail though, wouldn't it show up in spam rather than being completely blocked? I'll look into the whitelist settings anyway, thanks.

I was in the same situation last month and wasted days trying to get through on the regular unemployment number. After getting disconnected about 20 times, I finally used Claimyr.com to connect with an agent. It cost money but got me through to someone in about 30 minutes who resent the verification email immediately. Problem solved in one day instead of waiting weeks. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE - basically they hold your place in line and call you when they get an agent.

•does this actually work? seems kinda sketchy to pay for something that should be free

•I thought the same thing at first, but I was desperate after trying for days. It definitely worked for me - had my DocuSign email within an hour of talking to the agent. Honestly worth it considering I was about to miss rent payment waiting for my claim to process.

This happened to me too! I was freaking out because I thought maybe someone had entered my email wrong or something. What worked for me was logging back into my NY.gov account and clicking on "Update Contact Information" (even though nothing was wrong) and just resaving it. Somehow that triggered the system to resend the verification email. Worth a try before spending hours on the phone!

•Omg, I'm going to try this right now! That would be amazing if such a simple fix works. Will update whether it works or not. Thank you!!

There are a few technical reasons this happens: 1. Email delivery issues between the NYSDOL system and certain email providers 2. Automated filtering that doesn't show up in spam folders 3. System backlog due to high verification volume The official process is to wait 7 business days before requesting a resend. Since you're at day 5 (counting only business days), you're approaching that window. The most effective solution is to call the Technical Support line at 855-251-5537 between 8:30am-4:30pm and specifically request a DocuSign reverification. They can verify your identity directly and manually trigger the email while you're on the phone. Also, check that the email on your NY.gov ID matches exactly with the email you provided on your unemployment application - even small differences can cause this issue.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! I actually just tried the tip from the comment above about updating my contact info and clicking save, and the DocuSign email appeared in my inbox about 10 minutes later! I'm completing the verification now. Such a relief! But I appreciate knowing about the technical support line in case I run into any other issues.

•THIS is why the system is BROKEN. They make ONE tiny error or YOU make one tiny error typing something and the entire system just FAILS without telling you why! How hard would it be to add an error message saying "we tried to send a text but it failed" instead of leaving people hanging???

anybody know how long after u do the docusign verification til they approve ur claim? been waiting 3 days already

•It typically takes 2-3 business days after verification for claims to move to approved status, then payment usually processes within 48 hours after that. If it's been more than 5 business days, you should call to check on status.

UPDATE: Thanks everyone for your help! The suggestion to update my contact info and save it again actually worked - DocuSign email came through about 10 minutes later. Just finished completing all the identity verification steps. Hopefully my claim will start processing now! Leaving this post up in case anyone else runs into the same problem.

•Yay! So glad that worked for you too! It's such a simple fix but not intuitive at all. Good luck with the rest of your claim!
