How to get 1099-G for ny unemployment without account login?
Getting worried about tax season approaching. I was on unemployment earlier in the year but I can't remember my account login info now that I need to access my 1099-G form. Does anyone know if they'll mail them automatically like last year? Or if there's another way to request it without being able to login? I've tried the password reset process but my old email isn't working anymore. Really don't want to mess up my taxes because of this!

You can call them to request your 1099-G. I had the same issue last February and just called the tax form line. Took about 45 minutes on hold but they verified my identity and mailed it to me. Way easier than trying to reset all your account stuff. They should start sending them out by end of January.

Best thing I did was using this service called Claimyr that connected me with a live agent at unemployment. Saved me literally HOURS of waiting on hold. Got my 1099-G situation fixed in one call and they just mailed it to me. It was the only way I could talk to a real person without wasting my entire day. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

β’wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just the usual BS? ny unemployment phone system is literally the 9th circle of hell π₯

β’It's just a service that calls for you and waits on hold, then connects you when a real person answers. I was skeptical too but talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast. Check out their site claimyr.com

β’I can actually vouch for this. My roommate used it last month for her claim issues. She said it was worth every penny since she got her backpay sorted finally.

They should be sending them out by the 31st. If you don't receive it by mid-February, you can request it. Check their website, they updated the process for requesting 1099s. I think theres a specific form for people who cant log in now.

β’Thanks! Do you know where on the site this form is? I've been looking but the website is a total maze π«

β’I think its under the tax information section. But honestly its easier to just call them. The form takes like 3 weeks to process anyway

THIS IS STILL A NIGHTMARE EVERY YEAR!!! Why can't ny unemployment get their act together? It's 2023 for gods sake! I've been dealing with this same issue for 3 years now. Every January, same bs. And don't even get me started on their "customer service" π‘

Here's what you need to do to get your 1099-G from NY unemployment if you can't log in: 1. First, try once more with the account recovery. Sometimes using a different browser works better with their site. Try Chrome in incognito mode. 2. If that fails, call the designated tax form line at 1-888-209-8124. Expect to wait a LONG time (I waited 2+ hours last year). Call early in the morning for better chances. 3. Have your social security number, your address, and any claim ID numbers from previous correspondence ready when you call. 4. If calling is impossible with your schedule, you can submit a written request by mail, though this takes much longer. 5. The absolute fastest way is using Claimyr.com - it's a service that waits on hold for you and connects you with an agent when they pick up. Seriously saved me hours of frustration and I got my tax docs sorted in one call. Remember, by law they have to provide this document to you by January 31st, so if you don't receive it by early February, you need to be proactive. Don't wait until April when everyone is panicking! Good luck!

If u have informed delivery from usps you can see if they mailed it to u. That's how I found out mine was coming last year

Try checking in your spam folder for the password reset emails. Their emails always end up there for me for some reason.

β’Good tip, but I tried that already. My issue is the email account I used no longer exists π©

If you filed taxes last year using the 1099-G, your tax preparer might have a copy still. Worth asking if you used one.

you can also go in-person to one of their offices as a last resort. bring ID and they can print it for you. i had to do this in 2021.

Ever notice how the unemployment system works perfectly when they're TAKING money from us for overpayments but breaks down when WE need something from THEM? π€

dont even stress about it! if u dont get it u can still file taxes. just use the info from ur bank deposits to calculate how much u got from unemployment last year. thats what my accountant told me to do.

β’This is terrible advice. The 1099-G often includes withholdings and other adjustments you can't see from just bank deposits. You need the actual form.

Hey I just went through this last week! Just call them directly at 1-888-209-8124 and they can verify your identity and mail a copy. Pro tip: dont call monday or friday, those are the busiest days. Try tuesday afternoon if possible!
