How to get 1099-G form from ESD for tax filing? Didn't receive mine
I was on unemployment for about 3 months last year and now it's tax time and I need to file. How do I get my tax form from ESD? I think it's called a 1099-G or something? Nothing came in the mail and I'm starting to panic because my tax appointment is next week. Do they send these automatically or do I need to request it somehow? The IRS is going to want proof of this income and I have no idea where to find it. Has anyone else had this problem?

The form you need is definitely the 1099-G. ESD should have sent it by January 31st, but you can access it online through your eServices account too. Just log in, go to your dashboard, and look for the tab that says "1099-G tax forms" or sometimes it's under "UI Tax Information." You can download and print it right from there. If you can't find it online, call the tax hotline at 360-902-9840. They can help with 1099-G questions specifically.

•Thank you! I'll check my eServices account right now. I honestly never thought to look there. Hopefully I can find it without calling - every time I've called ESD in the past I've been on hold for hours.

•Good point about updating my address. I did move in November so maybe they sent it to my old place. Will definitely check the website first though!

I had to request mine THREE TIMES last year before I got it! First time they said they mailed it, never showed up. Second time they emailed it but the attachment was corrupted. Finally got it on the third try through the eServices portal. ESD is THE WORST with this stuff. Their system is completely broken. I swear they make it difficult on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits. SO FRUSTRATING!!!!

I had trouble getting through to ESD on the phone when I needed my 1099-G last year. After trying for days, I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an actual ESD agent in under 15 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Totally worth it for me because I needed my 1099-G urgently and couldn't wait on hold all day. The agent I spoke with was able to email me a copy immediately.

•Thanks for the tip about Claimyr. I'm going to try the eServices portal first as others suggested, but if that doesn't work I might need this. My tax appointment is Monday so I'm on a pretty tight timeline.

Just to clarify some information for everyone: The 1099-G forms for unemployment benefits are typically available in your eServices account by January 31st each year. You can access them by logging in, going to your dashboard, and selecting "UI Tax Information" from the menu. If you don't have an eServices account or can't access it, you can request a copy by calling 360-902-9840. A few important things to know: 1. ESD sends these forms to the last address they have on file 2. You need this form to report unemployment income on your taxes 3. If the amount on your 1099-G seems incorrect, you should contact ESD immediately 4. You can request 1099-G forms for up to 6 previous years If you received unemployment benefits, you must report this income on your tax return even if you don't receive the 1099-G form.

•That 360 number is USELESS. I called it 14 times and never got through to a real person. Just endless menus and then disconnection. They don't want to help people!

•I understand your frustration. The tax line can get extremely busy during filing season. Another option is to email 1099g@esd.wa.gov with your request. Include your full name, last four of your SSN, current mailing address, and phone number. They typically respond within 3-5 business days.

Just want to mention something that happened to my brother - he got his 1099-G but the amount was totally wrong. They had him claiming way more than he actually received! Had to dispute it and it took FOREVER to get corrected. Make sure you check the amount against what you actually got paid last year. If you kept track of your weekly payments you should be able to add them up and see if it matches.

•Oh good call - I'll definitely check the amounts. I think I have most of my payment info in my bank statements so I can cross-reference. Hopefully mine is correct, I really don't want to have to go through a dispute process.

UPDATE: I found it! Thanks everyone for your help. It was in my eServices account under UI Tax Information just like you all said. I had to click through a couple of screens but eventually found the 1099-G section where I could download a PDF. The amount looks right based on what I remember receiving. One less thing to stress about for tax season!

•Great to hear! Glad you were able to find it without having to call in. Make sure to save a copy somewhere else too, just in case you need it again later. Good luck with your taxes!
