How to get my 1099-G tax form from ESD for unemployment benefits?

I need my tax statement from ESD for filing my taxes but can't figure out where to download it. I received unemployment for about 5 months last year and now I need the 1099-G form. When I log into my eServices account, I don't see anything about tax forms or where to download them. Has anyone successfully gotten their tax statement recently? Do they mail these automatically or do I need to request it somewhere? Getting really anxious since tax deadline is coming up soon.

ESD makes 1099-G forms available in your eServices account under the 'More Options' tab. Look for '1099G Tax Information'. They're usually uploaded by January 31st each year. If you don't see it there, you might need to call ESD directly at 800-318-6022 to request it. They should also mail a physical copy to the address they have on file.

Thank you! I'll check the More Options tab again. I must have missed it. Do you know if they keep previous years' forms there too? I actually need 2023 and 2024 statements.

The same thing happened to me last week! Try logging in very early in the morning like 6am or late at night after 10pm. That's when I finally got in. Their system gets overloaded during regular hours this time of year.

If you're having trouble getting through on the ESD phone lines to request your 1099-G, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in the same situation last month - couldn't access my form online and couldn't get through on the phone. Claimyr got me connected to an actual ESD agent in about 25 minutes instead of spending days trying to get through. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. The agent was able to email me my 1099-G the same day.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm going to try the online method first that others mentioned, but if that doesn't work I'll definitely check out that service. Did you have to explain anything special to the agent to get them to email the form?

Just to clarify some information here: ESD is required by law to provide 1099-G forms by January 31st each year. You can access current and previous years' forms (up to 4 years back) through your eServices account under More Options > 1099G Tax Information. If you don't see them there, there are three possible reasons: 1) You're looking in the wrong section, 2) You received less than $10 in benefits (no 1099-G issued in this case), or 3) There's a technical issue with your account. In case #3, you should contact ESD directly. You can also request a duplicate 1099-G by calling the automated system at 800-318-6022 and following the prompts for tax forms.

Thank you for this detailed explanation! I definitely received more than $10 in benefits, so it should be there. I'll check the exact section you mentioned, and if I still can't find it, I'll try the automated system before calling directly.

had the same problem last week. the 1099g forms are definitely in eservices but the website is super confusing. after you log in dont click on the unemployment claim link first. instead look at the very bottom of the page for smaller links and click on 1099g tax information. took me forever to find it!

Ohhhh that might be my issue - I've been clicking on unemployment claim first! I'll try looking at the bottom of the main page. Thanks!

Anyone know if they count the taxes they withheld on the 1099-G? I had them take out taxes from each payment but I'm worried they'll still want me to pay taxes on the full amount.

The 1099-G will show both the total benefits paid to you (Box 1) and the federal income tax withheld (Box 4). When you file your taxes, you'll report both numbers - the full benefit amount as income and the withheld taxes as taxes already paid. So you won't be double-taxed on what was already withheld.

UPDATE: I found it! For anyone else looking, there are TWO different places to find the 1099-G forms depending on how you navigate. Option 1: From the main eServices dashboard, scroll all the way to the bottom and click on \

Glad you found it! Thanks for sharing both navigation paths - that will definitely help others. Make sure to download and save a copy for your records.
