When will ESD send out 1099-G tax forms for 2024 unemployment benefits?

Hey everyone, it's tax time again and I'm getting really anxious about my 1099-G from ESD. Has anyone received theirs yet for the unemployment I collected in 2024? My accountant is bugging me to get all my documents together ASAP but I haven't seen anything from ESD in my mailbox or eServices account. Are they even available yet? Do they mail them automatically or do I need to request it somewhere? This is my first time filing taxes after claiming unemployment so I'm completely lost!

ESD typically makes 1099-G forms available by January 31st each year. You can access it through your eServices account under the

Thx for the info! I just checked my eServices again and still don't see anything under tax info. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place? Or it's just not ready yet? Today's Feb 6th so they're already late based on what you said. Ughhh I'm going to miss my accountant's deadline.

They're usually pretty good about having them ready by the end of January. I got mine on eServices last week. Once you log in, click on the UI Information tab, then look for the 1099G Tax Information link on the left menu. If it's not there, it might be because you didn't actually receive benefits in 2024? Or maybe there's a glitch in your account.

I definitely received benefits from March to July last year when our company did massive layoffs. Checked exactly where you said and nothing's there. This is so frustrating!

Good suggestion but I've been checking all folders daily and nothing from ESD about tax forms. At this point I'm worried something's wrong with my account.

I've been trying to reach ESD about my missing 1099-G for THREE DAYS!!! Every time I call it's either busy signals or being on hold for hours then getting hung up on! This happens EVERY TAX SEASON! You'd think they'd have figured this out by now. I finally gave up and just used last year's numbers on my taxes which is probably illegal but what else can I do when they make it IMPOSSIBLE to get the right documents?!?!

Please don't use the wrong numbers on your tax return - that could cause major problems! The IRS will likely catch the discrepancy since ESD reports the correct amounts to them. Keep trying to reach ESD or request a replacement 1099-G through their online system.

Easy for you to say when you're not the one spending HOURS on hold only to get disconnected! How are we supposed to follow the rules when they make it IMPOSSIBLE???

My neighbor had the same problem last year and he used Claimyr to get through to an ESD agent about his missing 1099-G. It's a service that basically holds your place in line and calls you back when they get an agent on the phone. Worked great for him and he got his tax form issue sorted within a day. The video explains it better than I can: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 and their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out. Definitely beats calling 50 times a day and never getting through.

Yeah, it worked for my neighbor and a couple people from my old job. ESD's phone system is completely overwhelmed during tax season so having something that can actually get you through makes a huge difference.

I'm having the exact same issue! Been checking eServices every day for two weeks and no 1099-G. What's weird is that I got an email saying it was ready, but when I log in there's nothing there. I tried calling yesterday but gave up after being on hold for 45 minutes. I really need this for my taxes. Has anyone found a solution yet?

No solution yet but at least we're not alone in this! Maybe they're having a system-wide issue? Let me know if you figure anything out!

OK so here's what happened to me last year - my 1099-G wasn't showing up because I had an unresolved identity verification issue from months before that I thought was already fixed. Try checking your notices section in eServices to see if there are any outstanding issues with your claim that might be blocking the tax form generation. Sometimes they don't make it obvious when there's a problem!

OMG you might be onto something! I just checked my notices and there IS an unresolved identity verification thing from December that I completely forgot about. It says I needed to upload additional documents but I never saw this notification before. Thank you so much for this tip!!!

That's a common issue - the identity verification requirements can delay your 1099-G generation. Once you resolve that by uploading the required documents, you'll need to call ESD to have them expedite your 1099-G since tax deadlines are approaching. Make sure to explain that you just discovered and resolved the identity verification issue so they understand the urgency.

I just uploaded all the documents they asked for. Now I guess I need to get through to them on the phone somehow to follow up. Wish me luck!

After you upload the docs, it's definitely worth calling to make sure they process them quickly. That's exactly what I had to do last year - I used Claimyr to get through after wasting two days trying to call myself. Once I actually talked to someone, they processed my docs right away and I had my 1099-G within 48 hours.

UPDATE: I finally got through to ESD after trying that Claimyr service someone suggested above (it actually worked!). The agent confirmed I had an identity verification issue that was preventing my 1099-G from generating. They processed my recently uploaded documents while I was on the phone and said my 1099-G should be available in eServices within 3-5 business days. For anyone else with this problem, definitely check your notices section for any outstanding issues!

Thanks for the update! I'm going to check my notices section right now and probably try that service too. My tax appointment is next week and I NEED this form!
