Can't find 1099-G form on ESD website for taxes - what am I missing?

I've been trying to get my 1099-G form for filing my 2024 taxes but I'm completely stuck. Never received anything in the mail, so I logged into my ESD account thinking I could just download it. Problem is, when I go to the 1099 tab, there's literally nothing there! No forms listed at all. I received benefits for about 3 months last year after my company downsized, so I definitely should have a form. I sent an email to ESD last night but who knows when they'll respond. Has anyone else run into this issue this year? Is there some special section I need to click on that I'm missing? Tax deadline is coming up fast and I'm getting nervous about not having this documentation.

I had the exact same problem two weeks ago! Turns out the 1099-G forms for 2024 weren't properly uploaded to everyone's accounts. You need to go to the "Documents and Letters" section instead of the 1099 tab. For some reason they're storing them there this year. If you still don't see it there, try clicking on "More Services" at the bottom of your dashboard and then "Tax Documents" - that worked for me.

Thank you so much! I just checked the Documents and Letters section and it wasn't there, but I found it under More Services > Tax Documents like you said. Would never have thought to look there. Seriously appreciate the help!

This is a common issue this year. ESD made changes to their online system in January that affected how tax documents are displayed. If you can't find your 1099-G using the methods suggested above, you can also request one by phone. However, calling ESD directly right now is nearly impossible with tax season volume. I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an agent in about 20 minutes last week when I needed a correction on my 1099-G. They have a service that connects you with an ESD agent without the endless hold times. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Alternatively, if you received benefits in 2024, you can estimate the amount for your tax return and then amend later if needed. Just make sure to keep documentation of your attempts to get the official form.

Is the Claimyr thing legit? Kinda seems too good to be true with how impossible it is to reach ESD these days.

The EXACT SAME THING happened to me!!! I was freaking out because my accountant keeps asking for it and I couldn't find it anywhere!! Called ESD like 8 times and got disconnected every single time. Their system is GARBAGE. Why can't they just mail the forms like normal people??

I'm a tax preparer and I've seen this issue with at least 6 clients so far this tax season. The 1099-G forms from ESD are definitely being issued, but there seems to be a distribution problem both with the physical mail and the online system. If you can't locate your form using the suggestions above, you have another option: You can calculate the taxable unemployment benefits you received by adding up all payments you received in 2024. Log into your ESD account and go to the payment history section. Add up all payments, and that sum should match what will be on your 1099-G. You don't technically need the actual form to file your taxes - you just need to know the correct amount to report. The IRS already receives this information directly from ESD, so as long as you report the correct amount, you'll be fine.

That's really helpful to know! I was able to find mine finally, but I'll keep this in mind if I have any issues with the numbers matching up. Thanks for the professional insight!

Let me add my experience to the mix - I actually got my 1099-G form in the mail but the online version was nowhere to be found, which made me wonder if they were the same! After spending an entire afternoon trying to figure this out, I called ESD (took forever to get through) and they told me there was a known glitch with the online system where some people could see their forms and others couldn't. They said they're working on fixing it but no timeline was given. Typical. When I asked about what happens if someone never received the mail version, they just said to call and request a new one. But of course you can't get through on the phone! It's a perfect catch-22. The whole unemployment system is designed to be as frustrating as possible, I swear.
