Where do I find my 1099-G form for Washington ESD unemployment benefits?
Tax season is here and I need to find my 1099-G form from Washington ESD for the unemployment benefits I received last year. I've been looking everywhere in my SecureAccess Washington account but can't seem to locate it. Does anyone know where exactly I'm supposed to download this form? I'm getting stressed because my tax appointment is next week and I don't want to miss any deadlines.

You should be able to find your 1099-G in your SecureAccess Washington (SAW) account under the 'Tax Documents' section. Log into secure.esd.wa.gov and look for a tab or link that says something like 'Tax Information' or '1099-G Forms'. They're usually available by late January.

•I've looked everywhere in my SAW account and I don't see any section labeled Tax Documents or Tax Information. Maybe I'm missing something obvious?

•Sometimes it takes a while for them to show up. Mine didn't appear until February 2nd last year.

Check your 'Correspondence' section in your Washington ESD account first. The 1099-G might be listed there as a document you can download. If it's not there, look under 'Account Information' or 'Documents'. The forms are typically posted by January 31st each year.

•Found the Correspondence section but it's mostly just weekly claim confirmations and my initial determination letter. No 1099-G there either.

•You might need to scroll down in the correspondence section - mine was buried under a bunch of other documents.

I had the same problem last month! Couldn't find my 1099-G anywhere in the usual spots. What finally worked for me was using Claimyr to get through to an actual Washington ESD agent. They were able to tell me exactly where to look and even helped me access it while I was on the phone. Check out claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works.

•How much does that service cost though? I'm already tight on money.

•It's worth it when you need to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD. I was spending hours trying to call and getting nowhere.

•I might try that if I can't figure this out myself. Getting really frustrated with the website.

this is ridiculous that we have to hunt around for our own tax documents... washington esd makes everything so complicated

•Tell me about it! Every year it's something different with their website.

•The system isn't perfect but the documents are usually there once you know where to look.

Try logging out of your SAW account completely and logging back in. Sometimes there's a glitch where certain sections don't load properly. Also make sure you're using the main Washington ESD website (esd.wa.gov) and not some other portal.

•Good idea, I'll try that. I've been staying logged in for weeks so maybe that's causing issues.

•Yeah I had that problem too. Cleared my browser cache and everything showed up fine after that.

If you received unemployment benefits in 2024, Washington ESD is required to send you a 1099-G by January 31st. If you can't find it online, you can also call their customer service line to request a duplicate. The form will show the total amount of benefits you received and any taxes that were withheld.

•Good luck getting through on the phone though. I've been trying for days.

•That's exactly why I'm trying to find it online first. Don't want to deal with their phone system if I don't have to.

•The phone wait times are brutal. I waited 3 hours last week just to ask a simple question.

Check if you have any pop-up blockers running. Sometimes the 1099-G opens in a new window and gets blocked. Also try using a different browser - I've had better luck with Chrome than Firefox on the Washington ESD site.

•I am using Firefox actually. Let me try Chrome and see if that makes a difference.

•Safari works fine too if you're on Mac. Just avoid Internet Explorer completely.

Wait, are you sure you actually received unemployment benefits that would require a 1099-G? If you were on standby status or received certain types of benefits, the tax reporting might be different.

•Yes, I was on regular unemployment for about 6 months last year. Definitely received benefits that should be on a 1099-G.

•Regular UI benefits are definitely reported on 1099-G. Standby and some other special programs might be different but regular unemployment always gets the form.

•I was on standby last year and still got a 1099-G, so I think most unemployment benefits get reported.

My accountant told me that if I can't get the 1099-G from Washington ESD, I should calculate the total benefits myself from my payment records. You can use your weekly claim history to add up all the payments you received.

Isabella Costa
•That's probably what I'll have to do if I can't find the actual form. At least I have all my payment confirmations saved.

•Just make sure you account for any taxes that were withheld too. That's important for your return.

I used Claimyr last month when I had a similar issue with missing documents. The agent I spoke with actually walked me through the website and showed me that my 1099-G was under a section called 'Annual Statements' that I had completely missed. Might be worth trying if you're still stuck.

Isabella Costa
•Annual Statements? I don't think I've seen that section. Let me look again.

•I found mine under Annual Statements too! It wasn't obvious at all.

•Why don't they just put all the tax documents in one easy-to-find place? This is so confusing.

Try this: log into your SAW account, go to 'Unemployment Services', then look for 'View Benefit Year Information' or something similar. The 1099-G might be nested in there with your other benefit year documents.

•Found 'View Benefit Year Information' but it just shows my weekly claim status and benefit amounts. No downloadable 1099-G.

•There should be a 'Documents' or 'Forms' link somewhere in that section. Keep looking around.

If all else fails, you can request a duplicate 1099-G by mail. There should be a form on the Washington ESD website to request tax documents. It takes a few weeks but they'll mail it to your address on file.

•That might be my backup plan if I can't find it online today. Really hoping to avoid the mail delay though.

•I had to do that last year and it took almost 3 weeks to arrive. Plan accordingly if you go that route.

just wanted to update everyone - I finally found mine! It was under 'Correspondence' but I had to click 'Show All' to see older documents. The 1099-G was from early February and I was only looking at recent stuff. Thanks for all the help!

•Oh my gosh, let me check if there's a 'Show All' button I missed! That might be exactly what I need.

•Yes! That's where mine was too. The default view only shows the most recent documents.

For future reference, you can also sign up for electronic delivery of tax documents during the year so you get notified when they're available. There's an option somewhere in your account settings.

SUCCESS! Found it under Correspondence with the 'Show All' option. It was dated January 28th so it's been there for weeks - I just wasn't looking far enough back. Thanks everyone for the suggestions, especially about checking different browsers and clearing cache. You all saved me from a lot more stress!

•This is such a relief to read! I was getting really worried about my tax deadline. Going to check that 'Show All' button right now - fingers crossed mine is hiding in there too. Thanks for updating us on what worked!

•This whole thread has been so helpful! I was having the exact same issue and was about to panic about my tax deadline. Just checked my Correspondence section with 'Show All' and there it was - my 1099-G from January 30th. Can't believe I was only looking at recent documents this whole time. You all are lifesavers!

I'm so glad to see people finding their 1099-G forms! For anyone still struggling, here's a quick checklist based on what worked for others in this thread: 1) Log into your SecureAccess Washington account and go to Correspondence 2) Click "Show All" to see older documents (this seems to be the key!) 3) Look for documents from late January/early February 4) Try different browsers if you're having issues 5) Clear your browser cache and log out/back in. If none of that works, the "Annual Statements" section mentioned earlier might be worth checking too. Don't give up - the form is almost certainly there somewhere!
