How to find unemployment W2 from Washington ESD - can't locate mine anywhere

The form you're looking for is called a 1099-G, not a W2. Washington ESD should have mailed it to your last known address. You can also access it through your SecureAccess Washington (SAW) account under the tax documents section. If you moved recently and didn't update your address, that could be why you haven't received it.

I finally got through to Washington ESD about this yesterday using that Claimyr service someone mentioned. The agent told me they had an issue with their mailing system in January and some 1099-G forms didn't go out. They're working on getting duplicates sent out but it might take another few weeks.

PSA: If you received unemployment benefits, you DO need to report it on your taxes. The 1099-G shows how much you received and any taxes that were withheld. Don't ignore it just because the form is late.

I got mine in the mail last week, but it was sent to an old address. Luckily my landlord forwarded it to me. The date on it shows it was mailed in late January, so they are going out, just slowly.

You can also call the IRS if you really can't get your 1099-G in time. They have procedures for filing without all your tax documents, but you'll need to be able to explain what happened.

For anyone still having trouble, I used Claimyr again today to get through to Washington ESD about a missing 1099-G. The agent was able to email me a copy immediately. Much faster than waiting for mail or trying to navigate the website.

Just a heads up - if you're using TurboTax or similar software, you can usually import your 1099-G directly from the IRS database even if you don't have the physical form. Might be easier than trying to get it from Washington ESD.

SUCCESS! I finally got through to Washington ESD (took 4 hours of calling) and they confirmed my 1099-G was sent to my old address. The agent updated my address and emailed me a copy within 10 minutes. Persistence pays off!

Final update from me: I ended up using Claimyr to get through to Washington ESD about my missing 1099-G. The whole process took about 20 minutes and the agent emailed me the form immediately. Wish I had done this weeks ago instead of trying to call myself repeatedly. Sometimes you just have to accept that the system is broken and find a workaround.
