Anyone received their ESD 1099-G tax form for 2024 yet?
Hey everyone, I'm starting to get my tax stuff together for filing and realized I haven't gotten my 1099-G from ESD for the unemployment benefits I received in 2024. Usually get it by mid-January but nothing yet, not even in my eServices account. Anyone else still waiting or have you guys received yours already? Getting a bit nervous since I'm hoping for a decent refund this year and don't want to delay filing. Is there a specific date they're supposed to send them out by?

ESD is required by law to mail 1099-G forms by January 31st, so they still have about a week to get them out. They also upload them to eServices accounts, usually a few days before the paper copies arrive. If you don't see it in your account by February 1st, you should definitely call them. Just a reminder that you can also access previous years' 1099-Gs through your eServices account if you need those.

•Thank you! That's helpful to know there's still time. I'll keep checking my eServices account daily. I definitely need this year's form since I had a period of unemployment after my company downsized in March.

•Oh that's promising! I'll check my mail today. We've had some mail delivery issues in my neighborhood lately, so maybe it got delayed.

Ugh I'm waiting too and kinda stressing about it. Need to file ASAP because I'm buying a house (hopefully) and need my tax return for the down payment. Why does everything with ESD always take soooo long??? 😫

•I know it's frustrating, but as the other commenter mentioned, they legally have until January 31st to send them out. If you're in a rush, you could try calling ESD directly to see if they can provide the information over the phone or expedite sending your 1099-G. Your eServices account should have it soon if not already.

I noticed mine was available in my eServices account yesterday, but I haven't received the paper copy yet. Log into your account and check under the "1099G Tax Information" section. The website was pretty slow yesterday though - probably everyone trying to check at once.

For anyone having trouble reaching ESD by phone, I used this service called Claimyr last week when I needed to talk to someone about my 1099-G from last year (had an incorrect amount). They got me connected to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes instead of spending hours on hold. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 that shows how it works. Way better than constantly redialing all day!

•Take a deep breath - you still have plenty of time to file your taxes. The deadline isn't until April 15th, and ESD is still within their legal timeframe to provide the forms. If you're really concerned, you can also estimate the amount you received from unemployment by adding up the payments in your payment history in your eServices account.

quick question - do we have to pay taxes on unemployment benefits? this is my first time filing with unemployment income...

•Yes, unemployment benefits are taxable income at the federal level. Washington state doesn't have income tax, so you don't pay state tax on it. The 1099-G will show the total benefits you received and any federal taxes that were withheld (if you chose to have taxes withheld when you filed your weekly claims). Make sure you include this information when you file your federal tax return.

UPDATE: Just checked my eServices again and my 1099-G is finally there! Looks like they're uploading them in batches. If you're still waiting, keep checking your account. Thanks everyone for the help and info!

•Great news! Thanks for updating the thread. For anyone else still waiting, this confirms they're actively releasing them now, so yours should be available soon if it isn't already.
