When will NY unemployment mail out 1099G tax forms for 2021?

I heard theyre supposed to be out by January 31st. So maybe check ur account again in a few days. I think they also mail physical copies but those can take longer to arrive.

After struggling to get any info from ny unemployment, I finally found a service that connected me to an actual human being! Used claimyr.com and got a callback with a rep who confirmed they're sending 1099Gs out this week. Talking to an agent saved me so much stress and waiting. They literally just posted on their website yesterday that all 1099Gs will be available electronically by January 30th and mailed by the 31st. Just go to the website and look at announcements.

You can actually request a copy online! Go to ur NY.gov ID account, login, go to unemployment services, then look for 1099G on the left menu. There should be an option to request a copy for 2021. Thats what I did last week, still waiting tho 🤷‍♂️

Last year mine was super late and I had to file an extension. The whole system is a disaster. I swear they do this on purpose to make our lives difficult 😡

If you don't wanna wait, you can try to calculate the amount yourself. Just add up all the payments you received in 2021, and remember it's all taxable income. Your withholding info should be in your payment history if you need that too.

Dealing with the exact same issue. I've spent HOURS trying to reach someone at ny unemployment with no luck. The phone system just hangs up on me after going through all the prompts. This is ridiculous.

I just checked my account this morning (Jan 27) and my 1099G for 2021 was there! So they're definitely starting to release them. Maybe check yours again?

Remember you can file an extension if needed, though you'll still need to pay estimated taxes by April 15th The NYSDOL systems are completely overwhelmed right now between regular unemployment claims, leftover pandemic issues, and tax season all at once. Having patience is important, but also know when to be proactive if your form doesn't arrive when expected.

Not to freak anybody out but be sure to review ur 1099G carefully when u get it. Last year mine had an incorrect amount that was $2400 higher than what I actually received! Had to call and get it fixed which took FOREVER.

If you really need it asap, try contacting your state representative's office. My brother had issues last year and his state assembly person's office helped him get it resolved quickly.

Does anyone know if they're sending physical copies automatically or only if you request one? I'd rather just get the digital version tbh.

For what its worth, I just got off the phone with them (used claimyr.com to bypass the hold nightmare). They confirmed ALL 1099Gs will be available online by Jan 30 and mailed by Jan 31. If you don't see yours by Feb 1st online, THEN you should contact them.
