Where to call for NY unemployment 1099-G tax form request in 2025?
I need my 1099-G form for my 2024 taxes but haven't received it yet. Can someone please give me the number to where I can request the NY unemployment 1099-G paperwork to be sent? I've looked all over the website but can't find a specific phone number for tax document requests. My accountant is waiting on this form and I'm getting anxious as the tax deadline is approaching. Thanks!

You don't actually need to call. You can get your 1099-G online through your NY.gov account. Just log in to your account, go to 'My Online Services,' click on 'Unemployment Services,' then select 'View/Print 1099-G.' If you absolutely need a paper copy mailed, the general NYSDOL phone number is (888) 209-8124, but be prepared for very long wait times this time of year.

Thank you! I tried logging in but my account is showing some error about 'service temporarily unavailable' when I click on the unemployment services section. I'll try again later today but if it doesn't work I guess I'll have to call that number.

Same here! And then when I finally got through, the agent told me they can't help with 1099 requests and transferred me to another department, and I got disconnected. So frustrating!

If you can't access it online through your NY.gov account, you can also send a written request for your 1099-G to: NYS Department of Labor PO Box 1979 Albany, NY 12201 Make sure to include your full name, last four digits of your SSN, current mailing address, and a phone number where they can reach you. They're supposed to process these requests within 7-10 business days, but realistically it might take longer during tax season.

I was in the same boat last week and couldn't get through on the phone either. I used Claimyr to connect with an agent in about 15 minutes instead of waiting on hold for hours. WHY is this so complicated every single year?!?! In 2023 they sent mine automatically, in 2024 I had to request it online, now for 2025 the online system doesn't work half the time and you can't get through by phone. It's almost like they WANT us to miss the tax deadline so they can collect penalties! So sick of this broken system!!!

The system is actually supposed to send 1099-Gs automatically by January 31st each year, both electronically and by mail. If you haven't received yours, it might be because they have an outdated address. When you do connect with someone, make sure they verify your contact information.

Anyone try requesting it through the message center in your account? I had similar issues last month and sent a message through my NY.gov account asking for my 1099-G and they responded after about 5 days with a link to download it.

It's under the 'My Online Services' section after you log in. There should be a 'Message Center' or 'Secure Messages' option somewhere on the dashboard. Not the most obvious place to find it!

If you have a smartphone, try accessing the website during off-hours like very early morning (5-6am) or late night. The NY.gov site seems to work better when there's less traffic. I was having the same error message but got through at 5:30am yesterday and was able to download my 1099-G with no problems.

No, unfortunately NYSDOL offices don't provide in-person 1099-G pickup services. Everything has to be done online, by phone, or through mail request. They've been moving away from in-person services since before the pandemic.

Update: I followed everyone's advice and tried logging in early this morning (5:45am) and the website actually worked! I was able to download my 1099-G without any issues. Thanks so much for all your help! For anyone else with the same problem, definitely try accessing the site during off-hours.
