Need NY unemployment 1099G mailed to my house - what's the right phone number?

I'm trying to file my taxes but never received my 1099G form from NY unemployment. I've checked my online account but can't find a way to request a paper copy be mailed to me. Does anybody know the direct phone number I should call to get my 1099G sent to my house? I'd rather have the physical document than try to print it from the website (my printer's always acting up). Thanks!

Try calling the main NY unemployment number at 888-209-8124. That's what I did last year. But honestly the wait times are crazy rn, took me like 2 hrs to talk to someone!!

Ugh, 2 hours?? That's ridiculous. Did they actually help you when you finally got through? I don't have that kind of time to waste on hold...

You don't actually need to call if you just want to get your 1099G. You can access it online through your NY.gov account. Log in, go to Unemployment Services, then to 'View 1099G Tax Forms'. You can download and print it directly from there, or there should be an option to request a paper copy be mailed to you right on that page.

I tried that already but couldn't find any option to request a mailed copy on the website. The download works but as I mentioned my printer is unreliable. That's why I need the actual mailed copy.

The official NYSDOL website says you can request a paper 1099G by calling (518) 485-7071. This is specifically for 1099G requests, not the main unemployment line. But when I tried this number last month it was constantly busy. After wasting days trying to get through, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected with an agent in about 20 minutes. They have this callback service that somehow gets you through the phone system. Worked great for me - they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Is that service legit? sounds kinda sketchy tbh

Yeah it's legit. I was hesitant too but it actually worked. They basically just hold your place in line and call you when they get an agent. Saved me hours of being on hold.

You don't even need the paper copy!!! Just print the PDF from ur account! IRS accepts printed versions just fine. That's what I did last yr.

Like I said in my original post, my printer is always acting up. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'd rather just have the official document mailed to me for peace of mind.

The correct number for requesting a paper 1099G form from NY Department of Labor is (518) 485-7071. You'll need your NY.gov ID, PIN, and the last four digits of your Social Security number when you call. Be advised that due to high call volumes in tax season (especially January-April 2025), you may experience significant wait times. Alternatively, if you have access to a public library or FedEx Office location, you could download the PDF there and print it for a small fee, which might be faster than waiting for mail delivery.

Thank you! That's exactly what I needed. I'll try calling that specific number. And good tip about the library - I hadn't thought of that as a backup option.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!!! i've been trying to get my 1099g for WEEKS and nobody answers ANY of the numbers!!! they make it IMPOSSIBLE on purpose so they dont have to help us. i filed my taxes without it and now im worried the IRS will come after me but WHAT CHOICE DID I HAVE??? this is why our government is a JOKE

You should never file without including all your income sources. You can actually request an extension from the IRS while you sort this out. It's better than risking an audit or penalties later.

I had to get mine last month and i just kept calling that 518 number like every 15 mins for a whole day until finally got thru. super annoying but it worked eventually.

That sounds exhausting but at least you eventually got through. How long did it take for them to mail it once you spoke with someone?

took like 8 or 9 days to get here. not super fast but not terrible i guess

Just wanted to update - I called the (518) 485-7071 number using Claimyr this morning and got through in about 25 minutes. The agent confirmed they're sending out my 1099G today. Said it should arrive within 7-10 business days. So much easier than the hours of hold time I was facing!

That's great news! I've been calling the number directly with no luck so far. I might try that service you mentioned if I can't get through by tomorrow. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Good point, thanks for the heads up. I did update my address in the system when I moved last year, but I'll definitely double check with them.
