Unable to access my 2021 1099-G tax form from ESD - tried everything!

I've been trying to get my 1099-G form from 2021 for my taxes and it's driving me crazy! Every time I try to log into eServices it says my password is wrong, then when I reset it I get locked out completely. Called the ESD number but after waiting 2 hours it disconnected me. Has anyone successfully gotten their old tax forms? The IRS is breathing down my neck because I had unemployment in 2021 and I need to report that income. Any help would be REALLY appreciated!!!

You can request a copy of your 1099-G by phone or mail if the online system isn't working for you. Call the dedicated 1099-G request line at 866-697-4831 or submit a written request to Employment Security Department, Records Disclosure Unit, PO Box 9046, Olympia, WA 98507-9046. Make sure you include your full name, SSN, address, phone number, and which tax year you need (2021).

Thanks for the info! I tried that phone number earlier this week and couldn't get through... is there a best time to call? I'm getting desperate since I need to file my taxes soon.

I think I've reset my password like 4 times now... and I'm pretty sure I'm using the right username? It's so frustrating. Did you eventually get your forms online or did you have to call?

i got in eventually but had to use my laptop. the mobile site kept giving me errors. try using a different browser maybe?

This is why I always download and save my tax forms the minute they become available! Now I have all my records going back years without dealing with ESD's terrible website.

That's great advice... for the past. Doesn't help me now though. 😫

If you're having trouble reaching ESD by phone (which is super common), I'd recommend using Claimyr. It's a service that helps you get through to an actual ESD agent without waiting for hours. I was skeptical at first but it worked for me when I needed to get some old tax docs fixed. Their website is claimyr.com and you can see how it works in this video: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. They basically hold your place in line so you don't have to keep redialing and waiting.

I've never heard of this before. Has anyone else used it? It sounds like exactly what I need right now.

I actually tried Claimyr last month when I needed to talk to someone about my adjudication. It worked pretty well - I got a call back when an agent was available instead of waiting on hold forever. Definitely better than the regular ESD phone system which is just *beep beep* we're too busy, goodbye!

The ESD is DELIBERATELY making this difficult for people. They don't want us to have access to our own tax information so we can't dispute anything! I've been fighting with them for MONTHS about incorrect reporting on my 1099-G from 2022. They reported $2,400 more than I actually received and now the IRS thinks I'm hiding income!!!

I don't think they're deliberately making it difficult - their systems are just outdated and overwhelmed. For 1099-G disputes, you need to fill out the 1099-G Dispute Form on the ESD website. They're required by law to investigate and correct any errors.

That's what they WANT you to think! I filled out that stupid form THREE TIMES and they keep 'losing' it. Meanwhile the IRS is coming after me for taxes on money I never received!!!

For anyone having trouble accessing past 1099-G forms, here's what you need to know: 1. For online access: Log in to your eServices account → go to your dashboard → click on the "1099G Tax Forms" link → select the year you need (2021) 2. If you're locked out of your account: Use the account recovery option, not just password reset. Go to secure.esd.wa.gov/home/ and click "Get Help" then "I forgot my username or password" 3. For phone requests: Call 866-697-4831 during less busy times (early morning Tuesday-Thursday) 4. You can also submit a written request with your personal details to ESD Records Disclosure Unit 5. If your address has changed since 2021, make sure to update it first or they might mail it to the wrong place Hope this helps someone!

This is really helpful, thank you! I'll try the account recovery option instead of just password reset. I didn't realize there was a difference. And good point about the address - I did move in 2022 so I need to make sure they have my current info.

UPDATE: I finally got my 1099-G! Tried the account recovery option instead of just resetting my password (thanks for that tip!) and was able to get into eServices. For anyone else struggling with this - don't give up! And definitely save copies of everything for the future so you don't have to go through this again.

Great news! Glad you were able to get what you needed. And yes, always download and save copies of your 1099-Gs as soon as they become available each January.
