Need NY unemployment 1099G mailed to my home - online system not working

Call the dedicated 1099G line at 1-877-801-5359. Make sure you have your PIN and SSN ready. The wait time is much shorter than the regular unemployment number. I called them in early February and had my 1099G in my mailbox about 8 days later.

You can actually request it by mail through the automated system. Call the main unemployment number (888-209-8124), then press 2 for tax forms, then 3 to request a physical copy. You'll need your SSN and PIN. It takes about 10-14 days to arrive.

I tried going through the automated system for 2 weeks and nothing ever came. Finally I had to speak to a human. If the system is down you're basically screwed unless you get a live person on the phone. NY unemployment is such a mess 🤦‍♀️

GOOD LUCK actually getting through though. I tried every day for a week before I gave up and used claimyr.com to get a callback when they finally connected me with someone.

You can also try emailing them at 1099G@labor.ny.gov with your request. Include your full name, last 4 of SSN, phone number, and mailing address. It worked for me last year but took about 3 weeks to get the form.

Has anyone tried going to an actual unemployment office in person to request this? I'm in Buffalo and wondering if I should just drive down there instead of dealing with their garbage phone system.

Here's what I did to get mine: I called right when they opened at 8:00am, pressed 1 for English, then 6 for other questions, then 2 for tax form questions. That route seemed to have shorter hold times than the direct 1099G option. Still waited 45 mins but at least got through.

FYI for everyone - the IRS says if you can't get your 1099G in time, you can still file your taxes using your own records of how much unemployment you received. Just make sure you report ALL of it as income. Look at your bank statements to see how much was deposited.

Pro tip: if you filed last year and used TurboTax, last year's 1099G might be stored in your TurboTax account. Won't help for this year but might help someone else reading this thread.

Have you checked your spam/junk folder? Sometimes they email the 1099G and it goes to spam. Just a thought!

If ur super desperate, I used a service called Claimyr to get thru to unemployment for a different issue. It costs money but they call and wait on hold 4 u then connect when a human answers. For me it was worth it cuz I was bout to lose my mind with the hold muzak. claimyr.com
