Where to find EDD Form 1099-G for 2024 taxes? Can't locate it on UI Online

Tax season is here and I'm trying to get a jump start on filing. I received unemployment benefits for about 3 months in 2024 and need my 1099-G form from EDD to report the income. I've logged into UI Online and poked around everywhere but can't seem to find where they post the tax forms. Has anyone received their 1099-G for 2024 yet? If they're already available online, could someone please tell me which section of the website I need to click on to find them? I swear I've looked everywhere! My tax preparer is asking for it and I'd rather not wait for the mail if I can access it online.

EDD usually mails out 1099-G forms by January 31st, but they should also be available online before that. Log into UI Online, then go to the "History" tab, and look for "Form 1099G" on the left sidebar. If you don't see it there yet, they might still be processing them for 2024. Mine isn't showing up either, so you're not alone!

Thank you! I checked under History but didn't notice a Form 1099G option on the sidebar. Maybe they're still uploading them. I'll keep checking daily. Appreciate the help!

The 1099-Gs SHOULD be available by Jan 31 (they have to by law) but sometimes EDD runs late. You can also request a duplicate once they're issued by calling the automated self-service line at 1-866-401-2849. You'll need your SSN, CA driver's license/ID, and date of birth. I did this last year when mine never showed up in the mail. But seriously, EDD is TERRIBLE at getting these out on time. I'd check the History tab every few days.

This is great info but calling that number is a JOKE!! I tried 23 times last year and always got the "we are experiencing high call volume" message. TWENTY THREE TIMES!!! 🤬🤬🤬

If you need to reach EDD quickly about your 1099-G, I'd recommend using Claimyr. They help you get through to an EDD agent without the endless busy signals and dropped calls. I was skeptical but it worked for me when I needed a duplicate 1099-G last year. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Saved me hours of frustration trying to get through the phone maze.

Yes, it actually works! I was connected to an EDD rep in about 15 minutes compared to days of trying on my own. They can pull up your 1099-G info immediately even if it's not showing online yet.

Actually I just checked and my 1099-G for 2024 is already available! It's not under History tab like previous years. Go to UI Online home page, scroll all the way down and look for "TAX INFORMATION" in small print - there's a link for 1099G there. They changed the location this year which is why everyone's confused. Hope this helps!

OMG THANK YOU!!! I found it! You're right, they completely changed the location. For anyone else looking - log in to UI Online, scroll ALL the way to the bottom of the main page, and under 'Tax Information' there's a link that says '1099G Forms.' Clicking that takes you to a page where you can view/download your form. Mine shows the correct amount I received last year. You are a lifesaver!

My freind who works at H&R block says if u dont get your 1099 u can estimate the amount on your taxes and fix it later with an amended return. but you HAVE TO report it even without the form or IRS will come after u for fraud!!!! Dont mess with the IRS people!!!

Thanks for the warning! Luckily I found mine thanks to the tip above about looking at the bottom of the UI Online homepage. But good to know there's a backup option if needed.

Just for everyone's reference - if you need your 1099-G from previous years (not just 2024), you can get those online too. They keep them available for at least 5 years. Same location that @profile3 mentioned - at the bottom of the UI Online homepage under Tax Information. If you filed taxes without reporting unemployment in past years, you should file an amended return!

You should definitely get that 2022 form and see if you need to amend your return. The IRS does compare EDD-reported payments with what you reported on your tax return, and they can come after you years later for underreported income plus penalties. Better to fix it proactively!
