How to get PA UC 1099-G tax form without logging in or printing? Forgot password!

I'm panicking a bit about getting my 1099-G for taxes this year! Does PA UC automatically mail these forms out, or am I supposed to download and print it from my account? Problem is I saved my login info on my home computer and I'm currently staying with my sister due to some plumbing issues. I have NO IDEA what my username/password combo is without that saved info. Plus my printer at home is completely dead anyway. Do they mail physical copies by default or do I have to request one? Tax deadline is coming up fast and I really don't want issues with the IRS on top of everything else!

PA UC does mail out paper 1099-G forms automatically to everyone who received benefits in the tax year. They should have been sent out by January 31st, 2025. If you haven't received yours, you can request a duplicate by calling the UC service center. If you urgently need it, I'd recommend requesting the duplicate asap.

Thank you!!! That's such a relief. Haven't seen it in the mail yet but I'll give it another week before I totally freak out. Any idea how long duplicate requests take to process?

Just to clarify what others have said, PA Unemployment does mail out paper 1099-G forms, but they also make them available online through your UC portal. If you haven't received your paper form by mid-February, you should definitely contact them. For the login issue - they have an account recovery option where they can send a temporary password to your email address on file. That might be easier than waiting for phone help. You'll find the "Forgot Username/Password" link on the login page.

That's helpful about the recovery option - I'll try that tomorrow. I do have access to the email I used for unemployment. Do you know if the temporary password comes right away or takes a while?

I never got mine in the mail last year and had to wait on hold FOREVER to get someone to help. The worst part was my tax guy was waiting on me and I kept getting busy signals for daaays. I ended up using this service called Claimyr that got me through to an actual person at UC in about 15 minutes instead of waiting all day. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 Totally worth it because I was able to get my 1099-G reissued and didn't miss my tax appointment. Just another option if you're on a deadline!

I'm skeptical about any service claiming to get through UC phone lines. Those lines are ALWAYS jammed. Does this actually work???

Yes it actually does work! I was skeptical too but I was desperate after trying for 3 days straight. You still have to wait a bit but nowhere near the hours or days of constant redialing.

The PA UC system is a NIGHTMARE with these tax forms!!! Last year they claimed they mailed mine but I NEVER got it. Then they told me I had to print it online. Then when I finally got someone on the phone they said they could mail a new one but it would take 10-14 BUSINESS DAYS!!! By that point I had to file an extension on my taxes which cost me extra money with my tax preparer. The whole system is designed to make everything as difficult as possible!!!

Exactly what happened to me too! The UC system acts like everyone has perfect mail delivery and working printers. So frustrating.

While I understand the frustration, I should point out that you can also request that they email your 1099-G to you as a PDF if you verify your identity over the phone. That's often faster than waiting for a new paper copy to be mailed.

my brother had same problem last year he just put in the total benefits amount from his bank statements and the irs didnt say anything about it

That's not really the best approach. The 1099-G shows tax withholding too, which you need for an accurate return. The IRS might not catch it immediately, but they can audit returns up to 3 years later and then you'd have to pay penalties and interest if anything was incorrect.

UPDATE: Finally got through to PA UC this morning! They confirmed they mailed my 1099-G on January 29th, but said sometimes they take up to 2 weeks to arrive. The rep also offered to email me a copy right away after verifying my identity, which she just did! Problem solved! For anyone else in this situation, definitely ask if they can email it - WAY faster than waiting for remail or dealing with login issues. Thanks everyone for your help!!!

That's great news! Yes, the email option is definitely the fastest solution when you need it quickly. Glad you got it resolved before tax time!

Nice! How long were you on hold? I need to call about something completely different but dreading the wait times.

I was on hold for almost 2 hours 😫 Started calling right when they opened at 8am too. Wait times are still terrible unfortunately.

Wow, 2 hours is brutal but at least you got through! I'm dealing with a similar situation where I moved recently and my 1099-G probably went to my old address. Thanks for mentioning the email option - I had no idea they could do that. Definitely going to try calling and asking for the PDF version instead of waiting for them to re-mail it.

@Aisha Mahmood Definitely call and ask for the email option! Make sure you have your SSN and some other identifying info ready when you call - they ll'need to verify your identity before they can email it. The PDF comes through pretty quickly once they send it. Good luck with the 2-hour wait though... maybe try calling right at 8am like Makayla did!

This is such helpful info! I'm in a similar boat - staying at my mom's place temporarily and can't access my usual computer. The email option sounds perfect since I can access that from anywhere. Did they ask for any specific verification info beyond just SSN, or was that pretty much it?

@Amara Nnamani They asked for my SSN, date of birth, and the phone number I had on file with them. They also asked me to confirm my mailing address to make sure it matched what they had in the system. The whole verification process only took a couple minutes once I got through to someone. The rep was actually really helpful and understood that people sometimes need these documents quickly for tax purposes!

This is exactly what I needed to hear! I'm in a similar situation where I can't access my online account and haven't received the mailed copy yet. Had no idea they could email it directly - that's going to save me so much stress. Thanks for sharing the update and congrats on getting it sorted out before tax season gets crazy!
