PA UC 1099-G form missing for 2022 - where to find it or how to calculate without it?
I'm getting really stressed about tax season because my husband can't find his 1099-G for unemployment benefits he received in 2022. We've always gotten these forms in the mail before, but nothing came this year. I checked his dashboard in the PA UC portal but don't see it anywhere in the messages section. Is there some hidden place we're supposed to look for it? If we can't get the official form, do we just add up all the payment deposits from 2022 to report on our taxes? Or are there other amounts (like withheld taxes) we need to account for? Tax filing deadline is coming up fast and I'm worried about getting this wrong!

The 1099-G forms should be available in the PA UC Dashboard under 'My Documents' or 'Forms and References' section, not in the messages area. They're typically posted by January 31st each year. If you still can't find it, you can request a duplicate by calling the UC service center. However, be prepared for long wait times - it may take 30+ attempts to get through on the phone lines.

•Thank you! I'll check those sections right now. I looked everywhere but maybe I missed that area. If not there, is it okay if we just total up the deposits from 2022 for now and file an amendment later if needed? I'm worried about missing the filing deadline.

•Same happened to me! But then I realized I needed to look under the Documents tab on the dashboard, not messages. Also make sure you're looking in the right benefit year. The system is so confusing sometimes.

Don't just add up the deposits! The 1099-G includes income tax withholding information which you'll need for your tax return. There's actually a specific process for getting a replacement: 1. Log into your PA UC dashboard 2. Go to "My Documents" section 3. Look for "Tax Documents" subsection 4. If not there, call the UC Tax Services Unit at 888-313-7284 and request a duplicate If you can't get through by phone (very common), you can also submit a written request for a duplicate 1099-G to: Office of UC Tax Services P.O. Box 67503 Harrisburg, PA 17106-7503 Include full name, last 4 of SSN, address, and tax year needed (2022).

•This is SUPER helpful - thank you! I didn't realize there was a specific tax services unit. I'll try calling them tomorrow. Is there a better time of day to reach them? And does anyone know if we can get this electronically rather than waiting for mail?

I had this exact problem last month! Spent DAYS trying to call them with nothing but busy signals. I finally got through using Claimyr service (claimyr.com) - they have this system that holds your place in line and calls you when an agent is available. Saved me hours of redial attempts. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 After I got through, the agent emailed me a copy of the 1099-G same day. Apparently there was some glitch in their system that affected a bunch of 2022 forms not showing up in the dashboard.

•Does this service actually work?? I've been trying to get through to PA unemployment for THREE WEEKS about my missing tax form. Is it legit or just another scam trying to get personal info??

•It's legitimate. I was skeptical too but it actually connected me to a real PA UC agent. They don't access your unemployment account - they just help you get through the phone system.

•That's a great idea! I didn't even think about visiting an office in person. Do you know if they need an appointment or can we just walk in? And did you have to bring any particular documents?

I'm dealing with this exact issue but for 2023 benefits! This is my first time on unemployment and nobody told me where to find tax forms. Isn't it illegal for them to not provide these? My tax guy is getting impatient with me...

•For 2023 forms, they should definitely be available now. They're required by law to make them available by January 31st. Double-check the My Documents section, and make sure you're logged into the correct account. If your husband created his own account, you won't see his documents when logged in as yourself.

THE WHOLE PA UC SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!! I've had missing tax forms THREE YEARS IN A ROW now! And every year they give a different excuse about system upgrades or staffing issues. Meanwhile WE are the ones who get in trouble with the IRS if our reporting is wrong. And good luck getting through on those phone lines - complete joke!!!

UPDATE: I found it!!! It was buried under a weird submenu in the dashboard called "Correspondence" that was different from the Messages section. For anyone else looking, go to Dashboard > Documents > Correspondence > Tax Forms. Thanks everyone for your help! The form shows he had some taxes withheld that we would have missed if we just added up the deposits.

•Great news! Thanks for coming back to share where you found it - this will definitely help others with the same issue. The PA UC website navigation isn't exactly intuitive.
