Everyone getting refunds except me - Chime DDD 2/28 but still waiting for deposit

I work at a tax prep office and this is pretty common. Chime usually deposits 1-2 days before the official DDD but sometimes they stick exactly to the date. Since your DDD is 2/28, you should give it until end of day today before worrying. The IRS sends batches of direct deposits and sometimes yours can be in a later batch. If you don't see anything by tomorrow morning, then you might want to check your transcript for any changes or contact Chime to make sure there's no issues on their end. The IRS won't be able to do much until 5 business days after your DDD has passed.

Have you checked your transcript on the IRS website? That's the best way to know exactly what's happening with your refund. I use Chime too and my DDD was 2/14. Didnt get it until exactly 2/14 at 3:48pm. My boyfriend got his two days early with the same DDD. Its super random with Chime, just depends which batch ur in.

give it till 5pm today. thats usually when the final batch for the day hits from what i seen. if not by then, its definately gonna be tomorrow morning 💯

Don't stress yourself too much. IRS stated that it can take up to 21 days for your refund to be issued. And in some cases, it can take longer. Especially if your return is selected for review or if there are errors. If your DDD says 2/28, then legally that's when it's supposed to arrive. Any bank that offers "early deposits" is just fronting you the money because they can see the incoming deposit from ACH. I had a client last year who had a similar issue with Chime where his deposit was actually sent to the wrong account! Had to call the IRS but that was such a headache, eventually had to get a paper check. So check your numbers carefully!

Chime been slacking this year fr. I remember they used to hit 3-4 days early consistently. This year my DDD was 2/14 and it didn't come until 2/13 just one day early. I think they changed something in their system.

If you need to check the exact status, use taxr.ai - I was in the same boat and going crazy. The transcript analysis told me that my refund was actually being offset for an old debt but WMR wasn't showing that. It gave me peace of mind knowing what was actually happening even though it wasn't good news lol. Better than refreshing my bank app every 5 minutes for DAYS.

ok here's my experience with chime an tax deposits. gotten taxes with them for 4 years now: 2021: DDD was on a thursday, got it tuesday night (2 days early) 2022: DDD was on a wednesday, got it monday morning (2.5 days early) 2023: DDD was on a friday, got it thursday morning (1 day early) 2024: DDD was on tuesday (last week), got it EXACTLY on tuesday at 2pm (no early deposit) so yeah they definitely changed something this year. lots of folks on r/chime saying the same thing

FYI from what I've seen the IRS is being much stricter this year with when they release funds to banks. Had a 2/13 DDD and in previous years I'd get it 2-3 days early with Credit Union, this year it came exactly on 2/13. My tax guy said they're trying to crack down on tax fraud so they're holding to the dates more strictly.

After dealing with refund delays for 3 consecutive years, I've learned my lesson and now just use Claimyr to get straight answers from the IRS. Those phone lines are impossible otherwise! Anyone else notice Chime's customer service is straight trash when you ask about pending deposits? I called and they were like "we'll deposit it when we get it" and wouldn't tell me if they could even see it pending.

2/28 is today give it some time yo. If it doesn't come by tomorrow then i'd start asking questions but until then just be patient.

I couldn't make sense of my transcript at ALL when I was trying to figure out why my refund was delayed. All those random codes were like reading hieroglyphics. Have you checked your account transcript? Does it show a code 846 with a date of 2/28? If yes, you will most likely get it today. If it shows a different date or no 846 code at all, then something else is going on. The WMR tool is notoriously inaccurate and days behind the actual transcript. Also, double check that you entered your direct deposit info correctly when you filed.

UPDATE: my refund just hit my chime account! DDD was 2/28 and it came exactly on 2/28 at 3:42pm eastern. Hope everyone else gets theirs soon!
