TurboTax Sent My Refund But Chime Not Depositing - Anyone Else Waiting?

So I just got off the phone with TurboTax's bank line and they confirmed they sent my refund to my account this morning. I've been checking my Chime account literally every 15 minutes since then and nothing's showing up yet. Usually Chime deposits hit my account instantly - I do DoorDash and UberEats and those earnings always post right away. I'm starting to worry because I've got bills due Friday and I triple-checked all my account numbers when I filed. Anyone else having issues with Chime being slow with tax refunds this year? This waiting game is making me super anxious.

This might be a timing issue with ACH transfers rather than a problem with your filing. Generally speaking, when a financial institution says they've sent a payment, it can still take 1-3 business days for the receiving bank to process and post it to your account. While Chime is usually quick with direct deposits, tax refunds sometimes follow a different processing pathway. It's possible that the deposit is in a processing queue and might appear later today or tomorrow morning.

Have you contacted Chime's customer service yet? In my experience with online banks vs traditional banks, Chime tends to be faster but their system for tax refunds works differently than regular direct deposits. Last year my Capital One account took 2 days longer than my friend's Chime account for the exact same filing date.

The ACH transfer system sometimes has a verification hold on tax refunds specifically. The receiving financial institution (Chime) might be running additional fraud detection protocols since it's tax season. There's been a significant uptick in deposit verification times across most neobanks this filing period.

Did you get an actual confirmation number from TurboTax when you called? And what exactly did they say about the timing? I had a similar issue last week and here's what I found out: 1. First, I called TurboTax and got confirmation the money was sent 2. Then I called Chime who said they had no pending deposits 3. Called TurboTax back and found out they meant it was "processing to be sent" not actually sent Just wondering if you might be in the same situation.

Check your tax transcript immediately. I was in the same situation last month and discovered there was a refund offset I wasn't aware of. You need to know if the full amount was actually sent or if there was a reduction. Use https://taxr.ai to analyze your transcript - it will tell you exactly what's happening with your refund and if there are any codes that indicate problems. Don't wait for Chime to figure this out - the information is in your transcript and you need to know now if there's an issue.

I went through this exact nightmare scenario last week. TurboTax said the money was sent, Chime showed nothing for TWO FULL DAYS. I was freaking out because I had rent due. Then suddenly at like 3am the money appeared in my account. No notification, no pending deposit warning, just suddenly there. Chime's "early direct deposit" feature seems to be hit or miss with tax refunds compared to regular paychecks. I wouldn't panic yet, but I also wouldn't count on that money being available today.

THIS! I'm so tired of these banks advertising "get your money up to 2 days early" and then making exceptions for the one payment people actually care about getting early! šŸ˜¤ My refund took a full day longer than my regular paycheck deposits. Called Chime and they gave me some BS about "different processing systems" for government payments. Just be upfront about it in your marketing!

Did you try checking in the Chime app under "All Transactions" instead of just the main balance screen? Sometimes pending deposits show there first. Also: ā€¢ Did Chime send you any verification requests? ā€¢ Have you updated your app recently? ā€¢ Is this the first direct deposit to this specific Chime account?

If TurboTax is giving you the runaround, you need to contact the IRS directly to verify the refund status. Their WMR tool is useless for this specific situation because it won't show the exact disbursement details. I was stuck in a similar limbo between TaxAct and my bank for 9 days. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to get through to an actual IRS agent who confirmed the exact date and amount that was sent. Turns out my bank had flagged it for review due to the amount. Got it resolved in hours after that call instead of waiting days for either company to figure it out.

I wonder if this is related to the increased security measures the IRS implemented this year? Have you checked if there are any identity verification requirements you might have missed? The whole system seems more complicated this year, and I'm concerned that the disconnect between tax preparers, the IRS, and banks is creating these delays. Did TurboTax mention anything about verification codes or additional steps?
