Money Network card payment delays vs Bank of America - anyone receiving funds on time?

So I just got switched over to this new Money Network debit card after years with the BofA card. With Bank of America, I could always count on my EDD payments hitting my account the same night they posted. I'd certify Sunday, see the payment status change to 'paid' on UI Online Monday, and boom - money available that evening. But it's been 2 days since my payment status changed to 'paid' on the EDD website, and I'm still waiting for the funds to show up on my Money Network card. Starting to get worried because I have rent due next week. Has anyone else made the switch? How long is this new card taking to process deposits compared to the old Bank of America one? Is this delay normal or should I be calling someone?

YUP welcome to the WONDERFUL world of Money Network cards 🙄 I got switched over last month and its been nothing but problems!! With BofA I always got paid like clockwrok now who knows when the $$ will show up. Sometimes 3 days sometimes 4. Once it took a WHOLE WEEK and my landlord was NOT happy!!

A whole week?? Oh god, I can't wait that long. Did they give you any explanation when you called?

NOPE just said "processing time varies" whatever that means. Feels like they're holding our money hostage tbh

The transition to Money Network from Bank of America has been causing some inconsistencies in payment timing. Here's what I've learned after dealing with this since the switchover: 1. The official processing time is 1-3 business days after EDD shows "paid" status 2. However, many people are experiencing delays up to 4-5 business days 3. The system seems to be improving gradually as they work out the kinks If your payment doesn't appear after 3 business days, I would recommend calling Money Network directly at the number on the back of your card. In my experience, they're actually more helpful than EDD representatives when it comes to tracking these deposits. Also, make sure you've activated your card properly and set up your account online - some people have had payments held up because of incomplete activation.

Thank you! That's really helpful. I did activate the card as soon as I got it, and I've set up the online account too. I guess I'll wait another day and then try calling if nothing shows up. Just frustrating when you're used to a system that worked well for years.

My brother is on disability and he said the Money Network card takes forever too. Not just an unemployment thing I guess. The whole system is messed up if you ask me.

I've found that direct deposit to your personal bank account is MUCH faster than waiting for the Money Network card to receive funds. If you haven't already, you should set up direct deposit through UI Online. My payments consistently arrive next day after showing 'paid' on the EDD website. To set it up: 1. Log in to UI Online 2. Go to 'Personal Information' 3. Select 'Payment Methods' 4. Choose 'Direct Deposit' option 5. Enter your bank information It usually takes one certification cycle for the change to take effect, but it's worth it for the consistency.

I didn't even know direct deposit was an option! I thought we had to use the cards now. Definitely going to try this - thank you!

Actually I tried setting up direct deposit last month and got an error message saying my bank couldn't be verified. Called EDD about it but keep getting the "we're experiencing high call volume" message every single time. Been trying for weeks to get this fixed and no luck getting through to a real person.

Have you guys tried using Claimyr to get through to an EDD agent? I was having the same problem with payment delays and verification issues and couldn't get through on the phone for weeks. Found this service at claimyr.com and they got me connected to an EDD rep in about 25 minutes. The rep was able to tell me exactly when my payment would post to my Money Network card and fixed some other issues with my account. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Just sharing because it saved me a ton of stress - might be worth it if you need answers about your payment timing.

I'll check it out if my payment doesn't show up by tomorrow. Getting through to someone sounds worth it at this point!

Does this actually work?? I've tried calling like 50 times and always get disconnected

Yeah it worked for me. Not instant but way better than calling hundreds of times myself. The EDD rep I spoke with said they're dealing with tons of calls about the Money Network delays.

Quick update for everyone: I've been tracking payment timelines for the past month in a spreadsheet (yes, I'm that person), and I've noticed the Money Network deposits are becoming more consistent. My last two payments arrived within 2 business days after the EDD website showed 'paid'. Some patterns I've noticed: - Payments that show 'paid' on UI Online before 2pm tend to process faster - Weekends add extra delay (obviously) - First-time payments to the Money Network card seem to take longer Another tip: sign up for text alerts on the Money Network website/app. At least then you'll get notified the moment your money is available without having to constantly check the balance.

UPDATE: My payment finally hit the Money Network card this morning! So that's exactly 3 business days after it showed 'paid' on the EDD website. Definitely slower than the old Bank of America system, but at least it came through. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. I'm definitely setting up those text alerts and looking into the direct deposit option!

That's good to hear. Mine just came through today too. 3 days seems to be the new normal unfortunately.

Glad your payment finally came through! I'm dealing with the same transition headache right now. Been waiting 2 days since my status changed to 'paid' and getting anxious. The BofA card was so reliable - this uncertainty is really stressful when you're depending on these payments for basic expenses. I'm curious - for those who've had the Money Network card for a while now, have you noticed if certain days of the week are better for timing? Like if you certify on different days, does it affect when the funds actually hit? Just trying to figure out if there's any pattern I can plan around. Also going to look into that direct deposit option mentioned earlier. Sounds like it might be worth the hassle of switching if it's more consistent.
