EDD payment shows processed but not on Money Network card - how long to wait?
Hey everyone, I'm a bit stressed out. Just checked my UI Online account and it's showing that EDD processed a payment today (2/26/2025) but I don't see anything on my Money Network card yet. I previously had the BofA card with my last claim, but this time they issued me the new Money Network debit card. I've checked both cards and there's nothing on either one. Does anyone know the typical timeframe for funds to hit the new Money Network card after the payment shows as processed in the system? Should I be worried or is there usually some lag time? Really need this payment for rent due next week!

The Money Network cards typically take 1-2 business days to receive the deposit after EDD shows the payment as processed. Since today's payment was just processed, I'd wait until at least tomorrow afternoon before worrying. The first payment to a new Money Network card sometimes takes a bit longer than subsequent payments. Make sure you've activated your card properly through the Money Network app or website. If you still don't see it by Thursday, then I'd recommend calling EDD to check.

•Thanks for the info! I did activate the card when I got it a few weeks ago, but I haven't received any payments on it yet. This is my first payment with the new system. I'll try to be patient until Thursday... just stressing because my landlord isn't exactly the understanding type.

•That's a relief to hear! Did you get any notification when the money finally hit the card? Like an email or text?

I HATE the Money Network card! My payments used to show up same day with BofA but now it's always at least 2 days. One time it took 4 DAYS and no one at EDD could even explain why. Their customer service is AWFUL.

•While the Money Network cards can be frustrating, they were implemented to reduce fraud which was rampant with the BofA cards. The official timeframe is 24-48 hours after EDD shows the payment as processed. If it takes longer than that, you should contact Money Network directly at 1-888-323-7735 rather than EDD, as they can tell you if there's an issue with the deposit specifically. EDD just processes the payment - they don't control when it reaches your card.

Did you check if your Money Network card is fully activated? When I first got mine, I thought I had activated it but I hadn't completed all the steps. You need to set up the online account too. Also make sure your address is correct in both systems. If EDD has a different address than Money Network, sometimes that causes delays.

•Yeah, I completed the whole activation process and set up the online account too. My address is the same in both systems - double checked that when I got the card. Hopefully it's just the normal processing delay everyone's mentioning.

If you need to reach EDD to check on this, try Claimyr.com - I was in the same situation last month and couldn't get through the phone system at all. Used their service and got connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes who could see exactly what was happening with my payment. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km that shows how it works. The rep explained to me that sometimes there's a hold on first payments to new cards that doesn't show up in the UI Online system.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll give it another day, but if nothing shows up by Thursday, I might try that service. Did they actually solve your issue or just give you information?

•They solved it! The rep was able to see there was some verification flag on my account that was causing the delay, and they cleared it while I was on the phone. Money showed up the next morning.

did u check if ur payment is going to the right place? when i first filed my new claim they had my old direct deposit info even tho i thought i updated it. go to payment preferences in ur ui online account and make sure its set to the money network card not direct deposit or the old bofa card

•This is great advice. The payment preferences can definitely cause confusion. To check this, log into UI Online, go to 'View and Manage Payment Methods' in your dashboard. It should specifically say 'Money Network Debit Card' as your payment method. If it still shows Bank of America or Direct Deposit, you'll need to update it. Even though BofA is no longer the card provider, sometimes the system still shows it as an option which causes delays.

When I had a payment issue in January, I found out that holidays can affect processing times too. Is there any chance Presidents' Day last week might still be affecting the banking systems? Just a thought. Also, what time of day did you see that the payment was processed? Sometimes payments processed in the afternoon don't hit until two business days later.

•That's a good point about the holiday! I noticed the payment was processed around 2pm today. Maybe the afternoon timing is part of it too. I'll keep checking the Money Network app periodically.

btw money network lets u transfer to ur bank account for free thru the app its way better than having to go to atm like with the old card

•Oh that's awesome! I didn't know that. Once I get the money, I'll definitely transfer it to my checking account. Thanks for the tip!

Update from an EDD staff meeting last week: The current timeframe for Money Network card deposits is officially 24-48 business hours after the payment shows as processed in UI Online. However, if the payment is processed after 1pm, it generally counts as the next business day. So for your payment that processed today at 2pm, I would expect it Thursday morning at the latest. If it doesn't arrive by Thursday afternoon, that would be the appropriate time to contact EDD for assistance.

my sister works at a bank and she says ACH transfers always take 2-3 business days no matter what anyone tells you. edd processes the payment but then it has to go thru the federal reserve and then to money network. the money isnt actually moving instantly its just computer entries.

•That makes a lot of sense actually! I never really thought about all the steps money has to go through between different banking systems. It's frustrating when you need the funds quickly, but at least understanding the process helps manage expectations. Thanks for explaining the behind-the-scenes stuff!
