EDD approved my claim but still no Money Network card after 3 weeks - normal wait time?

Finally got my EDD claim approved on March 5th after waiting for what felt like forever! My UI Online account shows the payments as 'paid' but I still haven't received my Money Network debit card in the mail. It's been 3 weeks now and I'm starting to worry. How long does it typically take to get the card after approval? Should I be contacting someone about this or is this normal wait time? I'm getting really anxious since my rent is due soon and I was counting on having access to these funds. Has anyone else experienced delays with their cards recently?

it usually takes 7-10 business days to get the card. after 3 weeks somethings definitely wrong. call EDD and ask them to check if card was even mailed yet. they might need to reissue it

Thanks for responding! I was worried it was taking too long. I've been trying to call EDD for 2 days now but keep getting the 'maximum callers reached' message. Do you know if there's a specific number I should be calling for card issues?

This happened to me in January. The Money Network cards are actually sent from a third-party vendor, not directly from EDD. In my case, they had my address slightly wrong so the card was returned to them. You need to contact two places: 1. Call Money Network directly at 1-866-692-9374 (this number is specifically for EDD debit cards). They can tell you if the card was mailed, returned, or needs to be reissued. 2. Verify your mailing address in your UI Online account is 100% correct - even small errors can cause delivery issues. If Money Network says the card was mailed and not returned, you can request a replacement, but they'll deactivate the original card. Standard delivery is 7-10 business days, or you can pay for expedited shipping (2-3 business days).

Thank you SO much for this detailed information! I checked my UI Online account and realized my apartment number is missing from the address! That's probably why I haven't received it. I'll call Money Network first thing tomorrow.

I recommend using Claimyr to get through to an EDD agent quickly. I was in the same situation last month - approved but no card after weeks of waiting. I was going crazy trying to call EDD directly and kept getting the same 'maximum callers' message. I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. They were able to confirm my card was returned due to an address issue and helped get a new one issued right away. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Totally worth it to avoid the stress of calling hundreds of times. The EDD rep told me they can also set up direct deposit for future payments so you don't have to wait for the card.

does this actually work?? seems weird to use a service just to make a phone call

Yes, it definitely works. It's basically an automated system that keeps calling EDD for you until it gets through, then connects you. Saved me hours of frustration and my replacement card arrived 8 days later.

I WAITED 5 WEEKS FOR MY CARD!!! The whole system is broken and nobody at EDD cares!!!! I had to borrow money from family just to pay bills while my payments were sitting on a card I couldn't access. When I finally got through to someone they acted like it was MY fault for not calling sooner. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CALL WHEN NOBODY ANSWERS THE PHONES?!?!? And when the card finally came, it was in a plain white envelope that looked like junk mail. I almost threw it away!!!

This is my biggest fear! Getting approved but still not being able to access my money. The whole process is so stressful.

Another important tip: when you do get your Money Network card, immediately set up the mobile app and online account. Don't just activate the card by phone. The app lets you see all your transactions, transfer money to your bank account for free, and set up alerts. Also, you can call Money Network to request direct deposit for future payments instead of using the card. Many people don't know this is an option. You'll still need the card for current payments, but future ones can go straight to your bank account once you set it up.

I didn't know about the direct deposit option! That would be so much easier. I just called Money Network and you were right - they said my card was returned due to the incomplete address. They're sending a new one and I asked about direct deposit for future payments. Thank you again for all the help!

You're welcome! Glad you got it sorted out. One more thing to know - the first time they load your card, it will likely have multiple payments on it (all the ones that have been pending). So be prepared for that when you activate it!

I'm going through the same thing right now! Been approved for 2 weeks and no card. I've been checking my mailbox like a crazy person every day. This thread is making me realize I probably need to call someone. So stressful when you need the money!

random question but does anyone know if these cards work internationally?? i might be traveling soon and wondering if i can use it abroad

The Money Network card does work internationally anywhere Visa is accepted, but there are foreign transaction fees (around 3%). Also, be sure to notify them of travel plans before you go or they might flag transactions as suspicious and freeze the card.

UPDATE: I got my new Money Network card today! Only took 5 days after calling them to report the address issue. For anyone else facing this problem - definitely call Money Network directly instead of trying to reach EDD. And check your address in UI Online! My payments were there as expected and I was able to transfer funds to my bank account right away. Thanks everyone for the help!
