EDD Money Network debit card delay - approved benefits but no card after 3 weeks

I'm totally stressed right now. I filed my claim in early January and everything went surprisingly smooth - got approved faster than I expected! My UI Online account shows I've been paid for three weeks already (first partial week and then two full weeks), but I STILL haven't received my Money Network debit card. It's been over 3 weeks since my first payment was issued! I've checked my mail obsessively every day, even digging through junk mail thinking I might have missed it. My address is correct in the system. I tried calling EDD but after being on hold for 2 hours, the call dropped. Anyone know how long it typically takes for the card to arrive now? Should I request a replacement card already or keep waiting? I've got rent due next week and really need that money!

4 weeks?! That's insane. Did you do anything special to make it arrive or just keep waiting? I've got bills piling up.

According to the EDD website, Money Network typically mails the debit card 7-10 business days after your first payment is issued. However, with current mail delays and processing times, many people (myself included) have experienced longer waits. Here's what I recommend: 1. Double-check your address is correct in UI Online 2. Call Money Network directly at 1-866-692-9374 (much easier to get through than EDD) and ask about your card status 3. If it's been more than 10 business days, you can request a replacement through Money Network You might also consider setting up direct deposit for future payments once you access your account. That way you won't have to worry about card delays in the future.

Thank you SO much for this info! I didn't realize I could contact Money Network directly. I'll try calling them tomorrow morning. Do you know if requesting a replacement will cancel the original card that might still be on its way?

I had this EXACT problem last month!! So frustrating when you can see the money is there but you cant access it!!! I finally got through to an EDD rep who told me my card had been returned to them because my apartment number was missing on the address. Check your UI Online profile super carefully - even tiny address errors can cause this. I had to update my address and request a new card. Took another 2 weeks after that 😠

OMG that's a good point. I'm in apartment 304 but I usually write #304 instead of Apt 304. I wonder if that caused confusion. Did you have to call EDD to find this out or can Money Network tell you if your card was returned?

I've helped several people with this issue. First, don't panic - your funds don't expire. They'll stay in your account until you access them. Here's what you need to know: - Money Network can tell you if a card was mailed and when - If you request a replacement, the original card will be deactivated - The replacement process takes 7-10 business days (realistically more like 2 weeks) - You can request expedited shipping for an additional fee Also, once you do get your card, immediately set up the Money Network mobile app. It's much easier to track your payments that way, and you can transfer funds to your bank account without waiting for the physical card for future payments.

wait so if u request a replacement does tht mean the original card becomes useles?? i requested a replacement last week but now im worried i messed up if the original one arrives first...

Yes, when you request a replacement, the original card is automatically deactivated as a security measure. So even if the first card shows up, it won't work. You'll need to wait for the replacement card.

6 weeks? That's absolutely ridiculous! Did you ever find out why it took so long?

Have you tried using Claimyr to reach an EDD rep? I was in a similar situation and couldn't get through to anyone for days. My friend recommended Claimyr (claimyr.com) and I got connected to a rep within 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The EDD rep I spoke with was able to see that my card had been mailed but was stuck in processing. They expedited a new card for me and I had it within 3 days. Definitely worth it when you're waiting on money you need for bills.

I've never heard of Claimyr before. Seems like it could save me a lot of time and frustration. I'll check out that video. At this point I'm willing to try anything to get this resolved before rent is due!

I've been checking EVERYTHING including junk mail and recycling before it goes out. I'm paranoid about missing it! Good tip though - I didn't realize it wouldn't say EDD on the envelope.

Just following up - were you able to contact Money Network? One other thing to know is that sometimes they send the card from a facility in South Dakota, so the postmark might not be from California. This confuses some people who are expecting California mail.

I called Money Network this morning and they confirmed they sent my card on January 19th! But they also said it could take up to 30 days to arrive due to mail delays. If it doesn't arrive by next week, they said I can request a replacement. At least I know it's been sent!

after i had my issues with the card I switched to direct deposit for all future payments!! SOO much better, the money shows up in my account 1-2 days after certification. Highly recommend doing this as soon as you get access to your account!!

100% agree with this. Direct deposit is much more reliable than the debit card system. You can set it up through your Money Network account once you get access. Just make sure you keep the card in a safe place even after switching to direct deposit - you may need the card number for account verification in the future.
