Missing EDD Money Network debit card - 3 weeks after funds issued

I'm totally confused about my EDD payment situation. I set up my payment preference for the debit card option over a month ago when I first filed my claim. My account is now showing that $1,840 has been distributed to me (first two certification periods), but I STILL haven't received any debit card in the mail! It's been 3 weeks since the first payment was processed. I've checked my UI Online account multiple times and it definitely shows 'Money Network Debit Card' as my payment method. I'm starting to get really worried because I've got rent due next week. Does anyone know how to request a replacement card if the original never arrived? Or is there a way to check the status of the card? I tried calling the EDD but got the 'too many callers' message every single time.

The Money Network cards are shipped separately from EDD through their card provider. It typically takes 7-10 business days after your first payment is processed to receive your card. Since it's been 3 weeks, you should definitely contact Money Network directly at 1-866-898-2213 to check on your card status or request a replacement. They might have sent it to an old address or there could have been a mail delivery issue. When you call, make sure you have your EDD Customer Account Number ready for verification purposes.

Thank you so much! I didn't even realize Money Network was separate from EDD. I'll call that number right away. Do you know if they'll expedite a replacement if I explain my situation? Really getting nervous about these funds being in limbo when I need them for bills.

I hadn't even thought about that - my apartment complex has had mail mix-ups before. I'll ask around, thanks for the suggestion!

If you need to speak with an actual EDD representative about this (which I recommend since Money Network might just tell you to contact EDD anyway), try using Claimyr. It helped me get through after weeks of failed attempts. Their system connects you directly to EDD agents without the endless busy signals and hangups. I watched their demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km and decided to try it when I was desperate about my missing card too. The EDD rep was able to verify my card status and expedite a replacement. You can check them out at claimyr.com if you keep hitting the 'too many callers' wall.

I've never heard of this service before! I'll check out the video. At this point I'm willing to try anything because this is getting ridiculous. Did they tell you how long the expedited card would take to arrive?

The expedited card took 3 business days to arrive once the EDD rep processed the request. Much better than waiting another 7-10 days for standard mail! Just make sure they verify your current address when you speak with them.

THE WHOLE DEBIT CARD SYSTEM IS A DISASTER!!! I had to request THREE replacement cards last year because they kept sending them to my old address even after I updated it online AND by phone!!! EDD and Money Network don't communicate properly with each other. You HAVE to call Money Network directly AND also notify EDD separately about any address changes. Don't assume that updating it in one system updates it in both!!!

Oh no, that sounds like a nightmare! I haven't moved recently so that shouldn't be the issue, but good to know for future reference. Thanks for the warning!

I thought you could switch to direct deposit now? Isn't that easier than dealing with the cards? My brother said he just set up direct deposit and got his money in 2 days.

Yes, EDD does offer direct deposit now, but if you've already had funds sent to a Money Network card, you would still need to get that card to access those funds. Any future payments could be switched to direct deposit once you update your preference in UI Online, but that won't help with money already loaded to a card account.

When I had issues with my Money Network card last year, I found that going to the Money Network website and creating an account there helped a lot. Once you create an account, you can see if the card was actually issued, when it was mailed, and even the last 4 digits of the card number. The website is www.moneynetwork.com. This might help you determine if a card was even issued in the first place before you spend hours trying to call them.

This is super helpful! I'll try setting up an account right now. Would be great to at least confirm whether they've issued the card or if there's some other problem. Thank you!

i had this situation but worse... waited 5 weeks for card!! called money network and they said they mailed it but when i finally got someone at edd they said my address had a typo!! edd had to fix it and request new card. check ur address in ui online carefully!! even small mistakes like apt# vs unit# can cause problems!!

Just checked my address in UI Online and it looks correct. But I'm starting to think something might be wrong in their system since it's been so long. Definitely going to try calling both Money Network and EDD now.

One more thing to be aware of - once you do receive your card, you'll need to activate it immediately by calling the number on the sticker. Also set up a PIN that you'll remember. If you're worried about future delays with the card system, I recommend changing your payment preference to direct deposit once you've accessed the funds already sent to your card. Direct deposit is generally more reliable and faster for future payments.

I'm definitely going to switch to direct deposit once I figure out this card situation! Seems like it would save a lot of headaches. Thanks for all your advice - I feel much better having a plan now.
