EDD switched to Money Network but my payment is missing - not in BofA or new card
I'm really confused about the EDD payment system right now. My previous unemployment payments always went to my Bank of America EDD debit card. I certified on Sunday like usual, but it's been 3 days and nothing has shown up in my BofA account. I heard EDD switched to Money Network cards, but I haven't received any new card in the mail yet. Could my payment be stuck in limbo between the two systems? Has anyone else dealt with this transition? I'm getting worried because rent is due next week and I was counting on this payment.

The payment system has officially switched from Bank of America to Money Network as of January 2025. If you haven't received your Money Network card yet, you should call EDD right away. Any new payments approved after the transition date will ONLY go to the new Money Network account, not BofA. Your payment is likely waiting in the new system, but you need the physical card to access it. They should have mailed it to you automatically a few weeks before the transition.

•Thanks for clarifying! I didn't know they were supposed to mail cards automatically. I never received any notification about this. Do you know how long it typically takes for the new card to arrive after they mail it?

•Just checked and it does say 'paid' on UI Online! That's a relief, at least the money is somewhere. Hopefully the card comes soon, I really need to access those funds.

I HATE this new system!!! BofA wasn't great but at least it worked! Now EDD switches to Money Network without properly informing people and everyone's payments are delayed. I had to wait THREE WEEKS for my card to arrive and meanwhile my bills were piling up. This is typical government incompetence screwing over people who are already struggling.

•Three weeks?? That's terrifying. I can't wait that long. Did calling EDD help speed things up at all?

You need to call EDD immediately to request your Money Network card if you haven't received it yet. Any payments approved after the transition date are being deposited into the new system, not BofA. The good news is that if your UI Online account shows 'paid' status, your money is already in the Money Network system waiting for you. When you call, request expedited shipping for your card. They can usually get it to you within 3-5 business days once you speak with a representative. Make sure you verify your current mailing address too - lots of cards are getting sent to old addresses.

•Thank you for the detailed info! The problem is I've been trying to call all morning and keep getting the 'maximum callers' message. Is there a trick to getting through to an actual person?

Try using Claimyr to get through to EDD. I spent days trying to get someone on the phone about my missing Money Network card, then found this service. They got me connected to a rep in about 20 minutes. Check out their website at claimyr.com - they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Totally worth it when you need to actually speak to someone at EDD.

just wanted to add that you can also set up direct deposit with the new Money Network system and avoid the card entirely. I hated dealing with the EDD cards and finally switched to direct deposit last month. It was surprisingly easy to set up through UI Online once I received my Money Network account info. The funds go straight to my regular checking account now.

•That sounds so much better! I'll definitely set up direct deposit once I get the card and can access my account. I didn't realize that was an option now.

•Oh no, that would be a disaster. I moved about 8 months ago but I did update my address on UI Online. Hopefully that transferred over to the Money Network system too. Thanks for the warning!

Update: I used the Claimyr service mentioned above and finally got through to EDD! The representative confirmed my payment is in the Money Network system, but my card was sent to my old address despite updating it in UI Online. They're expediting a new card to my current address that should arrive in 3-5 business days. The rep also told me that in the future, I can set up direct deposit through the Money Network portal once I have access, which will avoid all these card issues. Just wanted to share in case anyone else is having similar problems during this transition!
