EDD payment shows 'Paid' but no funds on BofA card - transition to Money Network questions

I'm so confused about this transition from BofA to Money Network. My claim history on UI Online updated to 'Paid' status this morning for my latest certification, but I don't see any deposit on my Bank of America EDD card yet. Since EDD is switching to Money Network cards after July 15th, I'm wondering if my payment is being held until I get the new card? Has anyone experienced this? Will my final payment still go to my BofA card or am I going to be stuck waiting weeks for the new Money Network card to arrive? I have rent due soon and really need to know when I'll have access to these funds!

dont worry, if it says paid today it will still go to ur bofa card. the money network switch is happening but they still deposit to bofa until u actually receive & activate the new card. usually takes 24-48 hrs to hit ur account after it says paid

Oh thank goodness! I've been stressing all day about this. So the cut-off isn't a hard date where ALL payments suddenly switch over? That makes me feel so much better.

The transition from Bank of America to Money Network isn't an immediate cutoff for everyone simultaneously. Here's how it works:\n\n1. If your claim shows 'Paid' status and you haven't received/activated your Money Network card yet, the payment will still go to your BofA card\n\n2. After you receive and activate your Money Network card, all future payments will be directed there\n\n3. The July 15th date is when EDD starts issuing Money Network cards, but your individual transition happens when you activate your new card\n\n4. BofA cards remain active for a period after the transition to allow you to withdraw any remaining funds\n\nThe delay you're experiencing (showing 'Paid' but no deposit yet) is normal processing time, typically 24-48 hours from 'Paid' status to funds appearing on your card.

this is SUPER helpful info!! ive been worried too bc my landlord is NOT flexible with late rent. one thing - do we need to do anything special to tell EDD when we activate the money network card? or do they just know automatically?

I had this exact situation last week. Status changed to 'Paid' on Tuesday, but money didn't hit my BofA card until Thursday morning. The Money Network transition isn't affecting current payments to your BofA card. Just be aware that once you receive and activate your Money Network card, that's when your payments will start going there instead. You don't need to notify EDD about activation - the system registers it automatically when you activate the new card. The Money Network cards are being mailed out in batches starting July 15th, so depending on when your card arrives, you might get another payment or two on your BofA card before the switch happens.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really reassuring. I'll just keep checking my BofA account then. Any idea if there's a way to check when my Money Network card will be mailed? I'm worried about missing it in the mail.

FYI - After the transition, if you need to contact EDD about payment issues, it's nearly impossible to get through on the regular phone lines. I wasted three days trying to get someone on the phone about my payment being sent to the wrong card. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me connected to an EDD rep in about 25 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. If you run into issues with the card transition, it's worth considering since waiting on hold for hours isn't realistic for most people.

did u have to wait 25 mins on the phone still? or did it do the waiting for u? cuz waiting 25 mins is still better than what ive dealt with trying to reach edd lol

The service does the waiting for you - you get a call back when they have an EDD rep on the line. So I just went about my day and got the call when they connected. Way better than being stuck on hold or dealing with busy signals all day.

EVERYONE talking about the card transition but NO ONE answering why it takes 2-3 days sometimes for money to hit BofA after it says PAID!!!! this is the real problem i have honestly!!!! i see PAID on monday but don't get $ until WEDNESDAY or THURSDAY even tho my friend gets her money same day!!!!! EDD system is TRASH

It varies because EDD processes payments in batches throughout the day, and then BofA has its own processing time. Some people are in earlier batches, others in later ones. Also, how long you've been on unemployment can affect it - newer claims often take longer to process than established ones. Your friend might just be in an earlier batch consistently.

That's a good tip! I've been obsessively checking the UI Online status but haven't actually logged into my BofA account. I'll do that now.

btw when u do get the money network card, make sure u set up direct deposit to ur bank account. thats what im gonna do cuz i hate having my money on those prepaid cards. with bofa i always just transfered the full amount to my chase account right away

I didn't know you could set up direct deposit with the Money Network card! That's actually way better than the BofA system. Do you know if there's a fee for transferring to a bank account?

Money Network actually has better options than the BofA card did. You can set up direct deposit to your personal bank account at no cost. You can do this as soon as you activate your card by creating your Money Network account online or through their app. Standard transfers take 1-3 business days (no fee), or you can do instant transfers for a small fee.

Thanks for letting me know! That's helpful. I'm hoping the Money Network system is better than dealing with BofA.

Just to give you final confirmation - I received my last payment on my BofA card on July 8th (after the transition announcement but before my Money Network card arrived). Then got my Money Network card on July 17th, activated it, and my next payment went there automatically. The system knows where to send your money based on which card is active. So if you're seeing 'Paid' status today and don't have a Money Network card yet, that money is definitely going to your BofA card.

This is exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you so much for sharing your actual timeline. I'll stop worrying now and just wait for it to hit my BofA card. Really appreciate everyone's help on this!
