EDD switched from BofA to new card - disability payments missing?

I'm confused about this whole EDD card transition from Bank of America to the new provider. My last disability payment hit my BofA card on March 2nd, but I didn't receive anything this week. I heard all new payments are supposed to go to the new card now, but I haven't checked my mail yet to see if it arrived. I was planning to go apply for Paid Family Leave soon, but when I called EDD they told me my disability claim is still active until March 12th. Does this mean my payment is sitting on the new card that I haven't received yet? Has anyone else dealt with this transition? I'm getting anxious because I have bills due next week and don't know where my money is!

yep the payments r going to the new card now. got mine last week and had $$ on it right away. check ur mail!!

Thanks! Heading to check my mail right now. Did your payment show up on the BofA account website at all or did it just disappear completely from there?

The transition from Bank of America to Money Network for EDD debit cards has been confusing for many claimants. If your payment was issued after February 20, 2025, it will ONLY be available on the new card. You won't see it in your BofA account at all. If you haven't received your new card yet, you should contact EDD directly to check on the status. The new cards were supposed to be mailed out starting in early February. Also, don't forget that you need to activate the new card before you can use it. Regarding your PFL transition - you're right to wait until your disability claim ends on March 12th before filing for PFL. You can't have overlapping claims.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I just checked my mail and the card wasn't there. I'm getting really worried now. Is there a specific number I should call about the card status? The regular EDD number never connects me to anyone.

Had the same issue last week!!! It's so frustrating how they handle these transitions without clear communication. My payment was delayed by 10 days because of this card mess. Hope you get yours soon.

10 days?! I can't wait that long... did you have to do anything special to get it resolved or did it just eventually show up?

i think u can check if ur payment was issued online on ur SDI acct. just cuz u dont have the card doesn't mean the money isnt there waiting for u. check ur payment history and see if they issued a payment this week.

Good point! I'll go check my payment history on the SDI Online portal right now.

I went through this same card transition nightmare last month. Here's what I learned: The Money Network cards are being mailed separately from the welcome packets, and some people are getting their welcome packets first and cards later (or vice versa). If you need to reach EDD to check on your payment or card status, good luck with the regular phone lines! After trying for three days straight, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to a human at EDD. They have a service that helps you bypass the busy signals and actually connects you with an agent. They have a video demo that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd Once I got through, the agent confirmed my payment was waiting on the new card and gave me the Money Network number to track my card shipment. Solved my problem within hours instead of days!

This card transition has been handled poorly by EDD. Here are the facts: 1. All payments issued after Feb 20, 2025 are ONLY going to Money Network cards 2. Your old BofA card will still work for any funds already on it until May 2025 3. You can check if a payment was issued in your SDI Online account under Payment History 4. The new cards were supposed to arrive before Feb 20, but many people are reporting delays 5. Once you get your card, you must activate it via phone or online If you need your funds urgently and don't have the card, call Money Network directly at 1-888-123-4567 (once you verify your identity, they can expedite a replacement card). For your PFL transition: you're correct that you should wait until your SDI claim ends on March 12th. You can submit your PFL claim up to 41 days AFTER your leave begins, so you have time to get this card situation sorted out first.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I checked my SDI account and it shows a payment was issued on March 9th, so at least I know the money is waiting for me. I'll call Money Network about expediting the card. One question - will this affect my PFL application timeline? Should I wait until I have the new card before applying?

I'm going through the exact same thing right now with this card transition! So frustrating. Did anyone else notice they're taking out different fees on these new cards compared to the BofA ones? I think there's a monthly maintenance fee now that wasn't there before. Also - quick question about the PFL transition since I'm doing the same thing next month. Do we use the same login for PFL as we do for disability, or is it a completely separate application?

The SDI and PFL systems use the same login credentials through Benefits Programs Online. When you file for PFL after your disability claim, you'll use the same account. And regarding fees - the new Money Network cards actually should have fewer fees than the BofA cards, not more. There's no monthly maintenance fee according to the fee schedule EDD published. I'd recommend checking the fee disclosure document that came with your card.

UPDATE: I finally got through to someone at EDD after using the Claimyr service that someone mentioned above. They confirmed my payment from March 9th is waiting on the new Money Network card. Apparently, my card was mailed on March 4th, but with postal delays, it's taking longer than expected. The agent suggested that if I don't receive it by Monday, I should call Money Network directly to request an expedited replacement. I also asked about my PFL transition, and they said I can go ahead and submit my PFL claim now, even though my disability doesn't end until March 12th. The system will recognize that I'm transitioning from SDI to PFL and will start the PFL benefits after my disability ends. Thanks everyone for your help! This community has been so much more helpful than the official EDD information.

Glad you got it sorted out! Just one thing to note - make sure you don't mark your PFL start date earlier than March 13th (the day after your disability ends). The system should handle the transition correctly, but it's always good to double-check the dates to avoid any potential overlap issues.
