Money Network Card missing for PFL despite completing baby bonding transition - stuck in limbo!
I'm totally lost in the EDD payment card transition mess! I started my pregnancy disability (SDI) in January, received my Bank of America card fine, then transitioned to baby bonding PFL three weeks ago. My online account shows my PFL claim as 'processed' but I haven't received my Money Network card AT ALL. I've heard everyone after Feb 15th 2025 gets switched to Money Network but I'm in some weird limbo because my benefits started before the cutoff but are continuing after. I've called EDD literally 37 times this week (counted on my phone!) and either get disconnected or can't get past the automated system. When I call Money Network directly, they say they have no record of my account! Anyone else caught in this stupid transition period? Did you eventually get your card? I'm freaking out because I have daycare deposits due next week and rent coming up!

Same thing happnd to me! Started SDI in January, transition to PFL in March, no card for weeks. BofA said not their problem, Money Network said not in system. Such BS!

•How long did it take before you got yours? I'm so stressed about bills piling up.

I had this exact problem during the transition. Turns out, EDD has to manually flag accounts that started with BofA and continued with Money Network for the new card issuance. Your claim is probably stuck in this in-between state. Have you tried checking if your funds are still being deposited to your old BofA card? Mine were for the first 2 weeks of PFL even though technically they shouldn't have been.

•Omg I never thought to check my BofA card! Just logged in and there's nothing there. But that's a good point about the manual flagging...maybe that's why Money Network can't find me in their system yet.

I work for a disability management company and we've seen this EXACT issue with dozens of clients. There's a specific code EDD has to enter for "transition claimants" who started on one payment system and continued on another. Until that code is entered, Money Network won't even have your info in their system to create a card. Unfortunately, only an EDD rep with the right access level can fix this. Their phone system is completely overloaded because of this transition disaster.

•Thank you for explaining this! Do you know if there's any specific department or phone number I should try to reach? Or do I just keep calling the main line?

After struggling with this EXACT situation for weeks, I finally got through to EDD using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They basically call EDD for you and get you connected to a live person who can actually help. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM?si=6N1iCQ3a8Cdb2Ay5 The EDD rep I spoke with confirmed exactly what the disability management person said above - there's a specific transition code they need to add to accounts caught between the BofA and Money Network changeover. Got my card 5 days after they fixed it in their system.

•It's legit. Saved me from spending another 2 weeks calling nonstop. The EDD rep told me they're dealing with thousands of these transition cases and the hold times are insane right now.

I think everyone needs to calm down a bit here. This payment system transition has been announced for over a year. EDD sent multiple notices about it. I received my Money Network card within 7 days of my claim being approved. Maybe double-check your mailing address is correct in the system?

•That's not really relevant to the OP's situation. They're caught in the transition period between payment systems. Regular new claims are being processed normally, but claims that started on BofA and continued on Money Network require special handling. It's a known systems issue that EDD is struggling to address with their limited staffing.

•My address is definitely correct. I've received all other EDD mail at this address including the approval notices for both SDI and PFL claims. The issue seems to be specifically with the payment system transition since I started benefits before Feb 15 but am continuing after the cutoff date.

I finally resolved this exact issue last week! Here's what worked: 1. First, double-check your online account to make sure your PFL claim shows as "approved" not just "processed" (they're different statuses) 2. You need to speak with someone in the Benefits Payment Control unit specifically - regular EDD reps often can't see or fix the transition code issue 3. When you do get through, ask them to check if you have a "payment method designation code" on your account. If it's missing, that's why Money Network can't find you 4. After they fix it, you'll receive the card in 5-10 business days It's incredibly frustrating but once the right code is applied, things move quickly. This transition has been handled terribly by EDD.

•Thank you SO MUCH for these specific steps! My claim does show as "approved" not just "processed" so that's not the issue. I'll definitely ask about the "payment method designation code" when I finally get through. Did you just keep calling the main EDD number or is there a direct line to that Benefits Payment Control unit?

Just wanted to update - I called using Claimyr this morning like someone suggested above and finally got through to a real person at EDD! They confirmed my account was missing the transition code and fixed it on the spot. The rep said my Money Network card should arrive within 7-10 business days. Such a relief!

•That's amazing news!! I'm going to try Claimyr today. Was it easy to use? And did they explain why this happens to some accounts but not others?

•Super easy to use, took maybe 30 minutes total including wait time (vs the days I spent trying on my own). The rep said it's happening to anyone who started benefits before Feb 15 and continued after, but the system doesn't automatically flag these accounts for the transition - has to be done manually. Apparently they're overwhelmed with these cases right now.

I'm dealing with this exact same nightmare right now! Started SDI in December, transitioned to PFL in February, and it's been 3 weeks with no Money Network card. My EDD online account shows everything as approved but Money Network says I don't exist in their system. I've called EDD 50+ times and can't get through their phone maze. Reading through these comments, it sounds like the "payment method designation code" is the key issue. Going to try Claimyr today since multiple people here had success with it. This whole transition has been such a disaster - how can they switch payment systems without having proper procedures in place for ongoing claims? Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, at least now I know I'm not alone in this mess!

•You're definitely not alone! I just went through this exact situation last month. The payment method designation code thing is real - that's exactly what was missing from my account too. Claimyr worked for me after weeks of frustration with the regular phone lines. One tip: when you do get through to EDD, make sure to ask them to confirm they can see your account in both the old BofA system AND the new Money Network system. Sometimes the transition gets stuck halfway and your account exists in limbo between both systems. Also document the rep's name and case number if they give you one - it helped when I had to call back for a follow-up. Hope you get it resolved soon, the stress of not having access to your benefits while dealing with a new baby is just awful!
