Money Network card issues - success stories for getting EDD funds released?
Finally got switched to the Money Network card from BofA last month and OH MY GOD what a disaster!! My latest payment is stuck in limbo somewhere between EDD approval and actually showing up on my card. When I call the Money Network number, I just get an automated system that tells me my 'funds are pending' but gives ZERO timeline. I've spent hours trying to figure this out! For those who've successfully navigated Money Network issues and actually GOT YOUR MONEY - what worked? Did you have to contact EDD directly? Visit a branch? Some secret phone number I don't know about? Just looking to prepare myself before my next certification because I can't afford another delay like this.

•3 weeks?! That's insane. Have you been able to at least speak to an actual person at Money Network to explain what's going on?

I had this exact problem and finally got it resolved last week. The key is making sure your address is EXACTLY the same in both your EDD account and your Money Network account - even small differences can cause holds. I had an 'Apt' vs '#' difference that took forever to spot. After fixing that, I called EDD directly (not Money Network) and explained the situation. The agent was able to release the payment within 48 hours. Make sure you have your EDD customer account number AND your Money Network card number ready when you call.

•Thank you! I didn't even think about address matching issues. I'll double check mine right now. Did you have to call EDD multiple times to get through to a real person?

•Yes, it took about 18 attempts over 2 days to get through to EDD. I finally got through around 10:30am on a Tuesday. The wait was about 45 minutes once I got in the queue, but the rep actually knew what she was doing and fixed it quickly.

I had nightmares with this stupid card!!! Money Network is THE WORST and everythng they tell you is wrong!!! My funds were "pending" for 22 days while my rent was due and electricity almost got shut off. I cried every single day. What finally worked was going to an actual BANK that accepts Money Network withdrawals (Wells Fargo in my case) and talking to a manager in person. They called some special number and verified my identity again, then suddenly my funds appeared 4 hours later. The EDD website never mentions this option anywhere!!! Try this before you waste weeks like I did. The whole system is designed to make us give up.

•Not all banks do this tho. BofA told me they cant help with Money Network cards at all even tho they used to be the EDD card provider. Makes no sense!

•True! Call ahead and ask specifically if they can help with Money Network card issues. Also bring your ID and EDD paperwork. Some branches act like they don't know what you're talking about so be persistent!!

There's actually a specific process to follow when your funds aren't appearing on your Money Network card. The issue is often related to one of three things: 1. Identity verification mismatch between EDD and Money Network systems 2. Payment stuck in the transfer process from EDD to Money Network 3. A fraud hold automatically placed on first-time transfers To resolve this: 1. First, verify your payment shows as 'paid' in UI Online (not just 'pending') 2. Call Money Network directly at 1-888-253-0137 and request a 'payment trace' (use those exact words) 3. If Money Network confirms the issue is on EDD's side, you need to speak with an EDD representative who can manually release the payment For getting through to EDD, I'd recommend Claimyr (claimyr.com). They helped me connect with an EDD representative after weeks of failed attempts. Their system gets you through the phone maze and puts you on the callback list. You can see how it works in their demo video: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Once you speak with an EDD rep, ask them to verify the payment status and request a manual release to your Money Network account. They may need to generate a new payment if the original one is truly stuck.

•This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I've been looking for the right terminology to use. My payment does show 'paid' in UI Online which has been the most frustrating part - it says paid but the money is nowhere to be found. I'll ask for a 'payment trace' specifically when I call Money Network tomorrow.

I had something similar happen where my money was stuck for 12 days. Calling Money Network was useless - they just kept saying it was EDD's problem. Calling EDD was impossible until I figured out the trick - call EXACTLY at 8:01am when they open (not 8:00, their system isn't ready). I got through on my second try and they fixed it that day. The EDD rep told me there's been a HUGE backlog of issues with the Money Network transition and they're completely overwhelmed. They had to manually enter something in their system to push my payment through. Also make sure your Money Network card is fully activated including setting up the online account. Mine wasn't showing funds because I hadn't completed the full setup process.

•I used all 3 of my phones (cell, work, home) and kept hitting redial for about 15 minutes straight. Not gonna lie, it was annoying but it eventually worked. The rep told me Mondays and Fridays are the worst days to call - try midweek if possible.

just went thru this last week!!! they NEVER tell you that your first payment might get delayed for 'security verification' or whatever reason they make up. once you get past the first payment it works better but still has problems i ended up doing a direct deposit setup instead of using the card. go to your Money Network account online and look for direct deposit setup. takes like 5 business days to switch but after that my payments hit my regular bank account with no issues

•I didn't even know direct deposit was an option with Money Network! That would solve so many problems. I'm going to set that up as soon as I get this current payment sorted out. Thank you for the tip!

My roomate had this problem too and what worked was something weird - he had to change his email password on his EDD account and then do the 2-factor verification again. No idea why but the money showed up like 6 hours later. Might be worth a try.

•This system is so broken - why would changing an email password fix anything related to payments?! But honestly nothing would surprise me anymore. The Money Network/EDD connection seems held together with duct tape and prayers.

Just a follow-up since my earlier solution worked for you - after you get this resolved, I STRONGLY recommend setting up direct deposit through the Money Network portal rather than using the card. It takes about 5-7 business days to process the change, but then your funds go straight to your regular bank account rather than dealing with the card. Also, document EVERYTHING. Take screenshots of your UI Online payment history showing 'paid' status, note the times/dates you call Money Network, and get the names of any representatives you speak with. This documentation can be crucial if you need to escalate your case.

•Thanks again! I'm definitely switching to direct deposit once this gets fixed. Several people have mentioned it's more reliable. I've already started keeping notes of all my calls and screenshots - learned that lesson the hard way with previous EDD issues!
