Money Network debit card hasn't arrived after 4 weeks - EDD payments approved but can't access funds!
I'm at my wit's end with this Money Network situation! My EDD claim was approved almost a month ago, and I've been certifying regularly with all payments showing as 'paid' on UI Online. The problem is I STILL haven't received my debit card to actually access my benefits. I've tried calling the Money Network number (855-282-6161) at least 15 times over the past week, but it's always the same automated system that doesn't help at all. When I try to speak to a representative, I just get disconnected. Has anyone successfully gotten their first Money Network card when it didn't arrive on time? I have rent due next week and really need to access these funds I've been approved for. Any advice would be appreciated!

You need to call the specific Bank of America EDD debit card replacement line at 1-866-692-9374 and select the option for a lost/stolen card. That's different from the regular Money Network customer service. I had to do this last month when my card never showed up. They'll ask for your SSN and address to verify your identity, then they can expedite a new card to you. Mine came in 5 business days with expedited shipping.

•Thanks for the suggestion, but isn't Bank of America the old card provider? I thought EDD switched to Money Network cards in 2022? I'm confused because all my EDD paperwork mentions Money Network, not BofA.

The previous commenter is confusing the old system with the new one. You're right - EDD switched from Bank of America to Money Network in 2022. For Money Network issues, you need to call 1-888-928-3731 (that's the CORRECT number). But honestly, calling them directly rarely works because their phone system is overloaded just like EDD's. Have you tried using the Money Network mobile app? Sometimes you can set up your account there even before your physical card arrives, and you might be able to add it to Google/Apple Pay to use digitally while waiting.

•I tried downloading the app but it asks for the card number to set up an account, which I don't have since I never got the card. It's this circular problem where I need the card to access my money but can't get help about the missing card. So frustrating!

•Did you ever figure out why your card didn't come? I'm worried mine got lost in the mail or sent to a wrong address. How did you finally get through to EDD?

I was in exactly the same situation last month! Absolutely infuriating. EDD shows payments as "paid" but no way to actually get the money. After wasting days trying to get through on the phone, I finally used Claimyr to connect with an EDD agent (claimyr.com). It's a service that basically calls EDD for you and connects you when they get through. The agent was able to verify my card was actually never issued due to an address verification problem! They fixed it and had a new card expedited to me. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The EDD rep told me that the Money Network system often has these "silent failures" where something goes wrong with the card issuance but nobody gets notified. Only an EDD rep can see what's actually happening with your card status.

•is this service legit? seems sketch to have someone else call EDD for you. how does that even work?

@casual_commenter It's completely legit - they don't ask for any personal info beyond your phone number (to call you back when they get through). You're the one who speaks directly with EDD, they just handle the hours of dialing and waiting. Saved me literally days of frustration.

•Thanks for the suggestion. At this point I'm desperate enough to try anything. Did they tell you why your card had problems? I'm wondering if I need to check if my address is correct in the system.

Everyone keeps giving advice on contacting EDD but let me tell you THE TRUTH about these stupid Money Network cards. The ENTIRE SYSTEM is designed to delay paying you as long as possible!!! My brother works in banking and says these prepaid card companies MAKE MONEY by holding onto your funds. They DELIBERATELY "lose" cards in the mail or claim "system errors" to keep your money longer. I had to request MY card THREE TIMES before it magically appeared. The whole thing is a scam to earn interest off YOUR benefits!!!!!

•That's not entirely accurate. While there have been many problems with the Money Network transition, the cards are FDIC insured and regulated. The delays are usually due to processing backlogs and verification issues, not a conspiracy to withhold funds. The Money Network contract actually requires them to issue cards within 7-10 business days of EDD approval. However, if there's any identity verification flag in the system, it can cause delays. What you can do is: 1) Verify your mailing address in UI Online is 100% correct, 2) Make sure you've completed all identity verification steps, and 3) Contact EDD directly to check if there are any holds on your card issuance.

Update: I finally got through to EDD! Turns out my card was never issued because of a problem with my address verification. There was an extra space in my apartment number that caused the system to flag it. The rep fixed it and ordered me a new card with expedited shipping. Should have it by next week. For anyone with similar issues - definitely verify with EDD directly about the status of your card! Don't just assume it's in the mail.

Sorry for my confusion earlier about Bank of America. I'm glad you got it sorted out! One suggestion while you wait for your card - check if EDD can do a one-time direct deposit for hardship cases. A friend of mine was able to get this done when her card was delayed and she was facing eviction. Might be worth asking about if you need funds urgently before the card arrives.

•Thanks for the suggestion! The EDD rep didn't mention that option, but I'll call back and specifically ask about hardship direct deposit. That would be incredibly helpful if they can do it.
