EDD Money Network card received but no payments since mid-February - claim still active
I'm at my wits' end here. Got my Money Network debit card in the mail about 3 weeks ago and activated it right away, but I haven't received a single payment on it yet. My UI Online account shows my claim is still active and I've been certifying every two weeks like clockwork. Last payment I received was February 16th (direct deposit to my old account) but nothing since then even though I switched to the Money Network card. The payment history page shows all my certifications as 'paid' but there's zero balance on my card when I check the Money Network app. I've called EDD at least 20 times but can't get through. Anyone else dealing with this payment delay issue? Any ideas what might be wrong?

•It's so frustrating. Have you tried contacting Money Network directly? I'm wondering if it's an issue on their end or EDD's end.

There are a few things that could be happening here: 1. Did you receive any notification that your payment method was successfully changed in the system? Sometimes there's a delay between requesting the card and the system actually routing payments to it. 2. Check if there's a hold on your claim - even though it shows active, there might be an identity verification or quarterly review happening. 3. The Money Network app sometimes doesn't update in real-time. Have you tried calling the Money Network customer service directly? Their number should be on the back of your card. 4. If your UI Online shows payments as 'paid' but they're not on your card, there might be a routing issue that only an EDD rep can fix.

•Thanks for the detailed response. I checked and didn't get any confirmation about the payment method change - I just assumed it would switch over automatically after I activated the card. I'll try calling Money Network customer service first thing tomorrow. The frustrating part is that UI Online shows everything as 'paid' so I don't understand where the money is going!

wait are u checking the rite account? money network has this weird thing where sometimes u need to check ur "prepaid account" not ur "checking account" in the app. i was freaking out for days til i realized i was looking at the wrong screen lol

•I didn't know there were different account types in the app! I'll double-check that tonight. Thanks for the tip, that would be such a relief if that's all it is.

I had this EXACT same problem last month. Turns out my payments were going to my old direct deposit account for 3 weeks after I got my Money Network card. EDD doesn't automatically switch your payment method when they send you a card - you have to explicitly change it in your UI Online account under "Payment Preferences." Check your old bank account to see if the payments landed there instead of on your card. If not, you definitely need to talk to an EDD rep because something else is wrong.

•OMG I feel so stupid now. You're right - I just checked my old bank account and the payments are there! I thought getting and activating the card would automatically switch everything over. Thank you so much!

Your situation is unfortunately common when switching payment methods with EDD. For future reference, here's what needs to happen: 1. Request Money Network card 2. Activate card when received 3. Log into UI Online and navigate to "Payment Preferences" 4. Select "Debit Card" instead of "Direct Deposit" 5. Save changes and wait for confirmation Without step 4, payments will continue going to whatever method was previously set up. At least now you know where your money is! If you do need to speak with EDD about any other issues, I've had great success using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to a representative. They have a service that connects you directly instead of dealing with the busy signals. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

•Has anyone actually used this Claimyr thing? Seems kinda sketchy to me. Why should we have to pay extra just to talk to EDD? The whole system is broken.

I used Claimyr last month when I was desperate after trying for 2 weeks to reach someone. Got through in about 20 minutes. Worth it for me because I was missing payments, but yeah it sucks we have to resort to this.

•Thanks everyone for your help! I found my payments in my old bank account. Now I need to go into UI Online and properly switch my payment preference to the Money Network card. I've learned my lesson about assuming things happen automatically with EDD!

Wait so EDD wont automaticaly switch ur payments to the new card?????? thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard omg. why even send people cards if they dont work with out extra steps??

•The reasoning (though not very user-friendly) is that some people might want to have the card as a backup option but continue receiving payments via direct deposit. The system gives you the choice, but they definitely don't make it clear that you need to manually select your preference.

This is such a common issue and it's ridiculous that EDD makes it so confusing! I went through the exact same thing a few months ago - got my Money Network card, activated it, and then waited weeks wondering where my payments were. Turns out they were still going to my old bank account the whole time because I didn't know I had to manually change the payment preference in UI Online. For anyone else reading this thread who might be dealing with the same problem: definitely check your old bank account first before panicking. Then log into UI Online, go to "Payment Preferences" and make sure you select "Debit Card" instead of "Direct Deposit." It's not automatic at all, which is super misleading. The whole system really needs better communication - they should include clear instructions with the card or at least send an email explaining the next steps. So many people get stuck in this exact situation!

•Absolutely agree! I'm new here but dealing with this exact same issue right now. It's so frustrating that this seems to happen to so many people. You'd think after all these cases they would at least put a simple instruction card in with the Money Network card explaining that you need to go online and manually switch your payment preference. It would save everyone so much stress and confusion. Thanks for sharing your experience - it's reassuring to know this is a common issue with a simple solution rather than some major problem with my claim.

This exact thing happened to my neighbor last year! She was so stressed thinking EDD had stopped her payments completely. Turns out she needed to call both EDD AND Money Network to make sure everything was linked properly on both ends. Sometimes there's a disconnect between the two systems even after you change your payment preference in UI Online. If your payments are still going to your old account after you switch the preference, try calling Money Network first (way easier to get through than EDD) and ask them to verify that your SSN and claim info is properly linked to your card. They can usually tell you if there's a technical issue preventing the payments from routing correctly. Also heads up - even after you properly switch everything over, it can take 1-2 certification cycles for the change to fully take effect. The system is just painfully slow with updates!

•Thanks for the additional info! That's really helpful to know about the potential disconnect between EDD and Money Network systems. I'm definitely going to call Money Network first since you mentioned they're easier to reach. It's crazy how many steps and potential failure points there are in this process. The fact that it can take 1-2 certification cycles even after everything is set up correctly is just another layer of frustration. At least knowing what to expect timeline-wise helps manage the stress a bit. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences here - this community is way more helpful than EDD's actual customer service!
