EDD payment showing as issued but Money Network card has zero balance - where's my money?
Super frustrated right now! Got a text notification from EDD last night saying my payment was issued (about $1,850), so I was relieved since my rent is due in 3 days. Today I finally received and activated my new Money Network card that I've been waiting on for almost 2 weeks, but when I checked the balance - ZERO! Nothing there at all! I double-checked my UI Online account and it definitely shows 'paid' status for my last certification. Where the heck did my payment go? Is there a delay between when EDD issues payment and when it shows up on the card? Do I need to call Money Network or EDD? Anyone deal with something similar? Really stressing since I need this money ASAP for bills.

This happens pretty often with new cards. When EDD says 'paid' it usually takes 24-48 hours to actually transfer to your Money Network card. Since you just activated the card today, I'd recommend waiting until tomorrow before panicking. If nothing shows up by then, call the Money Network customer service number on the back of your card first. They can tell you if any transfers are pending to your account. Only contact EDD if Money Network confirms no payments are coming through.

•Thank you! That's a relief to hear. I'll try to be patient and wait until tomorrow. Do you know if there's a way to check pending transfers on the Money Network app or do I have to call them?

THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME LAST MONTH!! I was freaking out too! Called Money Network and they said the payment was "in process" even though EDD showed paid. It took almost 3 DAYS to show up on my card!!! The EDD system is so broken - they tell you it's paid but don't mention the 2-3 day processing time. Seriously what century are we living in that electronic transfers take that long?!?!

•Omg 3 days?? That's ridiculous. Did you have to do anything special or it just magically appeared after those 3 days?

•Thanks! Hoping it shows up tomorrow. Just hate the waiting game when bills are due.

There's definitely a delay between EDD showing "paid" and the funds actually being available on your Money Network card. The first payment to a new card can take 2-3 business days to process. I recommend checking these things: 1. Log into UI Online and verify the payment shows "paid" not "pending" 2. Make sure you activated the card correctly 3. Check that your address was correct when you filed your claim 4. Wait at least 48 hours from the "paid" status date If the money doesn't appear after 48 hours, you'll need to contact EDD directly. I had to deal with this exact issue in February and ultimately needed to speak with an EDD representative. I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an agent quickly - they have a service that helps you bypass the busy signals. They have a video demo here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The agent was able to verify that my payment had been sent to the correct card and gave me a transaction reference number to provide to Money Network, which helped resolve the issue.

•actually the money network cards suck so much. I switched to direct deposit after my second payment and never looked back. so much faster and reliable

when i activated my new card, i had to call money network customer service because they put a security hold on my first transfer. the rep had to manually release it. call the number on back of card and check if there's a hold on your account.

•Wait seriously? They didn't mention anything about a security hold during activation. I'll definitely call them tomorrow if nothing shows up. Thanks for the tip!

So my sister works for a bank and she explained to me that there's always a processing delay between when payments are initiated and when they actually post to accounts. For direct deposit it's usually faster (1 day) but for prepaid cards like Money Network it can take 2-3 business days. Something about the batch processing systems they use. Have you tried setting up the Money Network mobile app? Sometimes you can see pending deposits there before they officially post to your available balance.

•Just downloaded the app and logged in but still showing zero balance and no pending transactions. I guess I'll just have to be patient... ugh.

CALL THEM FIRST THING TOMORROW!!! Don't just wait! Sometimes there are "verification holds" they put on first payments for "security" or whatever. My cousin had her money stuck in limbo for over a WEEK because of this! The longer you wait to call, the longer it takes to fix!

•This is good advice, but no need to panic yet. Money Network's customer service opens at 8am PT. Call them first, and they can usually tell you exactly when the deposit will clear. Save contacting EDD as a last resort since getting through to them is much harder.

•This is my first card ever from them, so I don't think that's the issue. But thanks for the suggestion!

my cousin had this happen and she called money network and they said sometimes new cards take a full business day after activation before they can receive deposits so maybe try checking again tomorrow morning
