EDD payment approved yesterday but Money Network card shows $0 balance - payment missing

I'm freaking out right now! The EDD automated system confirmed my payment was processed and approved YESTERDAY, and specifically told me it would be available on my card TODAY. But when I called the Money Network customer service number to check my balance, it says I have $0 and NO pending transactions! This is my first payment after 6 weeks of waiting and I desperately need this money for rent that's already late. I've tried calling EDD about 20 times today but keep getting the 'too many callers' message. Has anyone else had their payment show as approved in the EDD system but not appear on their Money Network card? How long does it normally take for the money to actually show up after EDD says it's been paid? Is there another number I should be calling?

48 HOURS?? Are you serious? The automated system specifically said it would be there TODAY. I can't wait that long - my landlord is already threatening eviction!

This happens more often than you'd think. There's a processing delay between when EDD marks a payment as 'sent' in their system and when Money Network actually receives and posts it to your card. A few things to check: 1. Log into UI Online and check your payment history - does it show 'paid' with today's date? 2. Check if this is your first payment - first payments sometimes take 24-48 hours longer 3. Make sure your card is properly activated (though you must have if you called and checked the balance) If the UI Online system shows 'paid' status, give it until tomorrow morning. Money Network typically processes overnight batches, so funds often appear early the next business day. If it doesn't show by tomorrow afternoon, then you should try calling EDD.

Yes, UI Online shows "paid" with yesterday's date and the full amount. This is my first payment so maybe that's it? I just don't understand why the automated system would specifically tell me it would be there TODAY if that's not true. I'll wait until tomorrow morning but I'm still really stressed.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS A JOKE!!! I've had this happen THREE TIMES where EDD says paid but Money Network takes DAYS to actually show the $$. They claim its for "fraud prevention" but its really just them holding OUR MONEY to collect interest on it. The EDD phone reps just blame Money Network and Money Network blames EDD and meanwhile WE SUFFER!!! 😡

i agree its frustrating but i dont think theyre collecting interest lol. it's just slow government systems not talking to the bank systems. technology issue not conspiracy

I work in banking (not with EDD) but electronic transfers between systems often have these delays. What the EDD automated system is telling you is that they've *initiated* the payment, not that it's actually been received by Money Network yet. The process usually works like this: 1. EDD approves payment in their system (marked as 'paid') 2. EDD initiates an ACH transfer to Money Network's master account 3. Money Network receives the batch file with all claimants' payment info 4. Money Network processes and posts funds to individual cards Steps 2-4 typically take 1-2 business days, sometimes longer if there are weekends or holidays involved. If your payment was approved yesterday, I'd expect it to appear by tomorrow or the day after at latest.

Thank you for explaining the steps. That helps me understand what's happening better. It's just so confusing when the automated system literally says "your payment will be available on your card on [today's date]." They shouldn't say that if it's not true.

I don't think I have access to any Money Network website? They never sent me login info for that, just the physical card. The EDD website shows it as paid though.

If you need to reach EDD right away, I had really good results using Claimyr last month when I couldn't get through about my missing payment. It gets you through to an actual EDD agent quickly instead of calling 50+ times. Saved me so much stress. Their site is claimyr.com and you can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km In my case, there was a flag on my account causing the delay, and the EDD rep was able to fix it immediately once I got through. Worth it when you're dealing with rent issues!

does that actually work? i always figured those services were scams

It's definitely not a scam - it worked for me and several people in my unemployment group. You still talk directly to actual EDD representatives, it just helps you get through the phone system.

Hey there! First payments can be tricky with the Money Network card. When I got my first payment, I actually had to wait about 72 hours after EDD showed it as paid before it appeared on my card. It's super stressful especially when you're counting on that money! One thing that might help - did you try checking your transaction history on the card rather than just the balance? Sometimes pending deposits will show there before they affect your available balance. Also, I've noticed payments that process late in the day sometimes don't appear until the next business day's evening batch processing. Hang in there! I bet it will show up tomorrow morning. But if it doesn't appear by noon tomorrow, definitely try getting through to EDD to make sure there's not a card activation issue or something else going on.

I did check the transaction history and there's nothing there at all, not even pending. I'll try again tomorrow morning - I really hope it shows up by then. Thank you for the support and advice.

Just to follow up - did your payment show up this morning? Most first payments to Money Network cards appear within 48 hours of EDD showing 'paid' status.

YES! It finally showed up about an hour ago. Thank you everyone for helping me not completely panic. For anyone else seeing this thread with the same issue - it took about 36 hours from when EDD showed 'paid' to when it actually appeared on my Money Network card.
