EDD SDI payment shows as issued but Money Network card shows $0 balance - when will funds appear?
Freaking out a little bit here! My EDD SDI Online account shows my payment was issued today, but when I checked my new Money Network debit card, the balance still shows $0. This is my first payment after being approved last week for carpal tunnel surgery recovery. I've been waiting almost 3 weeks for funds and really need this money for rent. Has anyone experienced a delay between when EDD shows payment issued and when it actually shows up on the Money Network card? How long did it take? The EDD rep I spoke with when I filed my claim said payments would be available same day, but clearly that's not happening. Should I be worried that something went wrong with my payment?

This is totally normal! There's usually a 1-2 business day delay between when EDD marks a payment as "paid" and when it actually posts to your Money Network card. I've been on SDI twice in the last year and both times it took about 24-48 hours after the payment showed in my account before the funds were available on the card. If it was marked paid today, I'd expect to see it on your card by the day after tomorrow at the latest.

•Thank you so much! That's a huge relief. I was worried something had gone wrong with my claim. I'll check again tomorrow and hopefully the funds will be there.

The Money Network card can be frustrating! I had the same issue last month. The key thing to know is that the first payment typically takes longer to process than subsequent payments. Here's what I learned: - First payments can take 1-3 business days to appear on your card after showing as "paid" in the system - Subsequent payments usually appear within 24 hours - Payments processed on Friday often don't show up until Monday or Tuesday - You can set up alerts on the Money Network app to notify you when deposits are made Also, make sure you've activated your card properly! Some people miss a step in the activation process and that can delay access to funds.

•I did activate the card when it arrived about a week ago. I downloaded the Money Network app too, but it just shows $0 balance. Is there anything else I need to do besides the basic activation? I'm really hoping it shows up tomorrow.

•As long as you set up your PIN and can log into the app, you should be good to go activation-wise. One thing to double-check is whether you received an email from Money Network confirming your activation. If you got that, you're all set - just need to wait for the funds to process. The system is frustratingly slow sometimes, but your money will show up!

The EXACT same thing happened to me in January!!! My payment showed as issued on a Tuesday, but didn't appear on my card until Thursday afternoon. I called EDD like 50 times and couldn't get through to anyone. It was SO stressful because I needed the money for rent too. But it did eventually show up! The Money Network system is just really slow to update sometimes. Did you try calling the number on the back of the card? They might be able to tell you if the transfer is pending.

•I tried calling the Money Network number earlier, but after navigating through all the menu options, it just said my card balance is $0 and there are no pending transactions. Super frustrating! I'm going to try calling EDD tomorrow if it doesn't show up.

If you need to reach an EDD representative to check on your payment status, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in the same situation last month - payment showed issued but nothing on my card for days. I tried calling EDD myself for two days straight without getting through, then used Claimyr and got connected to an agent in about 25 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd The agent was able to see exactly when the payment would hit my card and confirmed it was in process. Saved me days of anxiety wondering where my money was!

•I've heard about this service but wasn't sure if it actually worked. Does it really get you through to an actual EDD representative? I've been trying to call about my disability extension for days with no luck.

•I tried calling EDD over and over all morning and kept getting the "we're experiencing high call volume" message and then it would hang up on me. So frustrating!!!

•Good idea, I just checked my spam folder but nothing there from Money Network. I'll keep an eye out for that email though!

Just checking back - did your payment show up on your Money Network card yet? Most first payments appear within 48 hours, so hopefully you've received your funds by now.

•Yes! The money finally showed up this morning - it took about 36 hours from when it showed as paid in my EDD account. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for the help and reassurance that this was normal. For anyone else reading this in the future - be patient with your first payment, it doesn't show up instantly!

So glad to hear your money finally came through! I'm actually dealing with a similar situation right now - my SDI payment showed as issued yesterday but still nothing on my Money Network card. Reading through all these comments is really reassuring that this is just how the system works. It's crazy that EDD doesn't make this clearer when you first get approved - they should definitely tell people about the 1-3 day delay for first payments. Would have saved me a lot of stress! Thanks for updating us on the outcome.

•I totally agree that EDD should be way more upfront about these delays! When I was going through the application process, they made it sound like everything would be instant once approved. The stress of waiting for that first payment when you're already dealing with a disability and financial pressure is just unnecessary. Hopefully your payment shows up today or tomorrow - sounds like you're right in that normal 24-48 hour window. Keep us posted!

•@Isabel Vega Hang in there! Based on everyone s'experiences here, it sounds like you re'right in the normal timeframe. I went through this exact same panic when I was waiting for my first workers comp payment last year - the uncertainty is the worst part. EDD really should have a better system for tracking payments in real time or at least be transparent about processing delays. Hope your funds hit your card soon!

I went through this exact same stress last fall when I was on SDI for a knee surgery! My first payment showed as "issued" on a Wednesday but didn't hit my Money Network card until Friday evening - felt like forever when you're counting on that money. What helped me was setting up the push notifications in the Money Network app so I got an alert the second the deposit posted. After that first payment though, all my subsequent payments came through within 24 hours like clockwork. The initial delay seems to be standard across the board from what I've experienced and heard from others. Definitely nerve-wracking when it's your first time dealing with the system, but it will come through!

•Thanks for sharing your experience! It's really helpful to hear from someone who went through the same thing. I just set up those push notifications in the Money Network app - didn't even know that was an option. Hopefully that'll give me some peace of mind for future payments. It's amazing how much stress this delay causes when you're already dealing with being out of work due to injury. Really wish EDD would just be upfront about this being normal instead of making it seem like payments are instant!

This whole thread is such a lifesaver! I'm currently waiting on my first SDI payment for a back injury and was starting to panic when I saw "issued" in my EDD account yesterday but nothing on my Money Network card. Reading everyone's experiences here has really calmed my nerves - sounds like 24-48 hours is totally normal for that first payment. The fact that EDD doesn't explain this delay upfront is really frustrating, especially when you're already stressed about finances while unable to work. Going to be patient and check again tomorrow morning. Thanks to everyone who shared their timelines - this kind of real-world info is so much more helpful than anything on the official EDD website!

•You're so right about this thread being a lifesaver! I wish I had found something like this when I was going through my first SDI payment delay a few months ago. The official EDD website is basically useless for this kind of practical information. It's frustrating that they don't just put a simple notice somewhere saying "First payments may take 1-3 business days to appear on your Money Network card after showing as issued" - would save so many people unnecessary stress. Hope your payment shows up tomorrow! Keep us posted on how it goes.
