No Money Network debit card yet - will I get paid next week?

I'm freaking out because EDD sent this email about switching to Money Network debit cards, but mine hasn't arrived yet! My next certification is due Sunday and I'm supposed to get paid next week. I've called Money Network customer service like 15 times and just get stuck in this automated loop. Then I tried calling EDD directly and couldn't get through after trying ALL DAY yesterday. Has anyone successfully contacted either Money Network or EDD about this? Will my payment just be delayed or completely lost if I don't have the card by next week? I still have bills due and my landlord isn't exactly understanding when it comes to late rent. 😰

SAME EXACT PROBLEM!!! Been trying for 3 days now to reach someone at Money Network. The EDD website says our payments will still be processed but will sit in limbo until we activate the new cards. So frustrating that they switched payment systems with ZERO proper planning. I finally got through to EDD yesterday after calling literally 57 times (I counted) and they just said "we don't handle the debit cards, you have to contact Money Network" - USELESS!!!

Omg 57 times?? I thought my 15 attempts was bad. Did they at least confirm your payment won't be lost? That's what I'm most worried about.

dont worry too much. the payments will still go into ur account, you just cant access them till u get & activate the new card. EDD is still processing claims as normal, its just the access part thats the issue. not ideal but at least the money will be there when u finally get the stupid card.

ya my brother had this same thing happen and he got all his backpay when his card finally showed up last week. took like 3 weeks tho 😬

I was in the exact same situation last month. The key thing to understand is that your payments will still be processed and approved - they'll just be sitting in your Money Network account waiting for you to activate your card. Here's what helped me finally reach Money Network: 1. Call early morning (right when they open at 8am PST) 2. Use option 4 for "lost or stolen card" even though you never received one 3. When prompted for card number, don't enter anything and it will eventually transfer you For EDD, if you need to speak to a representative to confirm your claim is still active and being processed, try Claimyr (claimyr.com). They have a service that helps you get through to EDD much faster. Their video shows the process: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. I was skeptical but they got me through when I couldn't reach anyone for weeks. Good luck!

Thank you SO MUCH for these detailed tips! I didn't know about the option 4 trick - will definitely try that tomorrow morning. And I'm gonna check out that Claimyr thing because I really need to confirm everything's still processing correctly on the EDD side.

i had to wait almost a month for my money network card lol... edd is so incompetent its unreal. the whole system is designed to make it hard for us to get our benefits. my theory is they hope people just give up trying.

A MONTH?! Ughhh that's ridiculous. Did you get any kind of tracking number or anything? I haven't received any communication at all about shipping status.

I work in HR and have been helping several employees with this exact issue. Here's accurate information: 1. Money Network cards are being mailed in batches based on the last 2 digits of your SSN, so some claimants are receiving cards later than others. 2. Your funds ARE secure - payments will be deposited into your Money Network account even if you don't have physical access to the card yet. 3. For those with urgent needs, you CAN request expedited shipping for your card by calling Money Network at 1-800-240-0223 and using option 4, then when prompted for a card number, press # twice. 4. Direct deposit is still an option! Log into UI Online and update your payment preference to direct deposit with your bank account information to bypass the card entirely. 5. Money Network customer service hours are 8am-9pm PST, with lowest call volumes typically before 9am and after 7pm. Hope this helps!

Wait, I can still switch to direct deposit? The email made it sound like we HAD to use the Money Network card. I'm going to log in right now and check if I can change my payment preference. That would solve everything!

I just got my Money Network card yesterday after waiting 3 weeks. The tracking number they gave me never worked, and the estimated delivery date was completely wrong. But when it finally did arrive, activation was simple and all my pending payments were available immediately. One thing that helped me was downloading the Money Network mobile app. Once you create an account there (even before you have the card), you can see if there are any payments waiting for you. That gave me peace of mind while waiting for the actual card to arrive.

I didn't even know there was an app! Going to download it now. At least I'll be able to see if my payments are actually in there while I wait for this card situation to get sorted out.

i switched to direct deposit as soon as they announced the money network change. best decision ever. takes like 2 days after certification to hit my bank account. no more card drama

I'm seriously kicking myself for not doing this sooner. Just changed mine to direct deposit too after seeing these comments. Never dealing with these stupid cards again!

Just checking back - were you able to get through using any of the suggestions here? The Money Network transition has been a nightmare for so many people, but eventually things do get resolved.

Yes! Thanks to everyone here. I followed the advice about calling Money Network using option 4 early in the morning and FINALLY got through to a person. They confirmed my card was mailed last week and gave me a tracking number. Also went ahead and set up direct deposit for future payments. Such a relief!
