Can I pick up my EDD Money Network card in person if it hasn't arrived yet?

I've been certified for benefits for almost 3 weeks now, but still haven't received my Money Network debit card in the mail. My online account shows payments as 'paid' but I can't access my money! I'm getting really worried because I have rent due next week and bills piling up. Has anyone had success going directly to an EDD office to pick up a card in person instead of waiting for the mail? I tried calling Money Network but was on hold for over an hour before getting disconnected. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Unfortunately EDD offices don't keep Money Network cards on site. They're issued by a separate company and mailed directly to you. I'd recommend calling EDD directly to verify your address is correct in their system - sometimes cards get sent to old addresses.

Thanks for the info. I'm 100% sure my address is correct in their system, I double-checked it when I filed. It's just so frustrating that my money is technically available but I can't access it!

You definitely can't pick it up at an EDD office. The cards come from Money Network, which is a separate company that handles the debit cards. Your best options are: 1. Call Money Network directly at 1-866-692-9374 to check on your card status 2. Request a replacement if it's been more than 10 business days 3. Ask them to expedite your replacement card (they can do this) Sometimes the first card takes 7-10 business days to arrive, not just calendar days. Don't panic yet!

Thank you so much! I didn't realize there was a separate number specifically for Money Network issues. I'll try calling them tomorrow morning.

went thru this last month... cards r taking FOREVER to arrive, like 3+ weeks sometimes. they won't let u pick them up in person no matter how much u beg lol

0 coins

Same! Mine took 22 days to arrive from when my claim was approved. The system is ridiculous.

The EDD system is COMPLETELY BROKEN. I had to wait 5 weeks for my card last year and nearly got evicted. They claim it takes 7-10 business days but that's a LIE. Then when you call, you can't get through to anyone. They should allow in-person pickup but they don't care about people actually accessing their benefits!!!

I know it's frustrating, but if you call Money Network directly, they're actually much more helpful than EDD. You can request expedited shipping for a replacement card (costs about $10 but worth it if you're desperate).

After working with hundreds of EDD claimants, I can confirm that you cannot pick up a Money Network card in person at any EDD office. However, if you've been waiting more than 10 business days, you should: 1. Call Money Network directly at 1-866-692-9374 to check if the card was actually mailed 2. Verify your mailing address is correct 3. If needed, request a replacement card (the first one is free) If you're having trouble reaching Money Network because of high call volume, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They can get you connected to both EDD and Money Network representatives much faster than calling directly. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km In the meantime, once your card arrives, I suggest setting up direct deposit for future payments to avoid this issue.

Thank you for such detailed advice! I'll definitely try Money Network again tomorrow. If I can't get through, I might try that Claimyr service. I really need to access my benefits ASAP.

My roommate just went through this last month. His card took almost 4 weeks to arrive even though his payments showed as paid in the system. So annoying!

0 coins

This happens to EVERYONE and EDD does NOTHING to fix it!! They should tell people upfront that the cards take a month to arrive instead of saying 7-10 days!

Quick update for anyone with this issue - as of July 2025, Money Network has a new status tracking system on their website. Create an account at moneynetwork.com once you've been approved for benefits, and you can actually see when your card has been printed and mailed out. This helps manage expectations on delivery times.

That's really helpful to know! I'll create an account today to check my status. Thanks for sharing this tip!

hey just wanted to say i had this same issue n finally got my card after 3 weeks. hang in there it'll come eventually. the mail is just slow sometimes

Thanks for the reassurance. It helps knowing I'm not the only one dealing with this!

Once you do get your card, immediately set up direct deposit through your UI Online account. That way, future payments will go straight to your bank account and you won't have to worry about the card anymore. It's much more reliable!

That's definitely my plan! I've heard direct deposit is much faster. Just need to get this first card so I can access my current payments.

I went through this exact same situation about 6 months ago! It's incredibly frustrating when you can see your payments are "paid" but can't access them. Here's what worked for me: First, definitely call Money Network at 1-866-692-9374 early in the morning (around 8 AM) - the wait times are usually shorter then. When you get through, ask them to confirm your card was actually mailed and request tracking information if available. If it's been more than 2 weeks since your first payment was issued, don't hesitate to request a replacement card. They can expedite it for a small fee (around $10-15) which is totally worth it when you have bills due. Also, check with your local post office - sometimes cards get held up there, especially if you live in an apartment complex. Bring your ID and ask if they have any mail for you. The whole system is honestly broken, but hang in there - your card will eventually arrive and then you can switch to direct deposit to avoid this nightmare in the future!

This is such great advice! I never thought about checking with the post office directly. I live in a large apartment complex so that could definitely be the issue. I'm going to call Money Network first thing tomorrow morning and then swing by the post office if needed. Thanks for the tip about calling early too - I've been trying in the afternoon when everyone else is probably calling. Really appreciate you sharing what worked for you!

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now - it's been 18 days since my first payment was marked as "paid" and still no card! I called Money Network yesterday and they said it was mailed out 2 weeks ago, but nothing has shown up. The representative suggested I file a request for a replacement card since it's been so long. One thing I learned is that you can actually request them to send the replacement to a different address (like a friend or family member's house) if you're worried about mail delivery issues at your current address. They can also put a rush on it for about $15 which gets it to you in 2-3 business days instead of the usual 7-10. It's so stressful when you need the money for rent and bills! Hoping both of our cards show up soon.

0 coins

I'm so glad I'm not alone in this! 18 days is ridiculous - you've definitely waited long enough to request that replacement. The option to send it to a different address is really smart, I might do that too since I'm worried about mail issues at my complex. $15 for rush delivery sounds totally worth it at this point. Thanks for sharing what Money Network told you - it gives me hope that when I call tomorrow they'll actually be able to help. This whole situation is so stressful but at least we know our payments are there waiting for us!

I'm going through this exact same nightmare right now! Been waiting 16 days since my first payment was marked as "paid" and still no card. It's so frustrating seeing the money just sitting there while bills pile up. I finally got through to Money Network yesterday after calling at 7:45 AM (definitely call early like others suggested!). They confirmed my card was mailed 12 days ago but said sometimes mail delivery can take longer than expected, especially to apartment complexes. They offered to send a replacement with expedited shipping for $12, which I went ahead and did since I can't wait any longer. One tip I learned - if you have a friend or family member with a more reliable mailing address, you can have the replacement sent there instead. Also, the Money Network rep told me that once I get the card and activate it, I can immediately transfer the funds to my bank account through their mobile app instead of waiting to set up direct deposit through EDD. Hang in there - I know how stressful this is when you have rent due, but the money is definitely there waiting for you!

0 coins

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's reassuring to know that calling early actually works - I've been trying in the afternoons and getting nowhere. 16 days is way too long to wait, you definitely made the right call getting the expedited replacement. I didn't know you could transfer funds directly through their app once you get the card - that's really helpful since I was worried about having to wait even longer to set up direct deposit through EDD. I think I'm going to do the same thing tomorrow and just pay for the expedited shipping. At this point $12 is nothing compared to the stress of not being able to access my benefits. Thanks for the encouragement!

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this - the waiting is absolutely nerve-wracking when you have bills due! I went through this same situation about 8 months ago and it took nearly 3 weeks to get my card. Based on everyone's advice here, I'd definitely recommend calling Money Network at 1-866-692-9374 first thing in the morning (like 8 AM sharp). They're actually much more helpful than EDD directly. When you get through, ask them to: 1. Confirm your card was actually mailed out and when 2. Verify your address is 100% correct in their system 3. If it's been over 2 weeks, request a replacement with expedited shipping The expedited shipping costs around $10-15 but is totally worth it when you're stressed about rent. You can also have them send the replacement to a different address if you're worried about mail issues at your current place. Also definitely check with your local post office - bring your ID and ask if they're holding any mail for you. Sometimes cards get stuck there, especially in apartment complexes. Once you finally get your card, immediately set up direct deposit through your UI Online account so you never have to deal with this mail delay again! Hang in there - your money is definitely there waiting for you.

This is such comprehensive advice, thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to break down all the steps. I'm definitely going to call Money Network at 8 AM tomorrow and follow your checklist exactly. The idea of checking with the post office is brilliant too - I never would have thought of that but it makes total sense for apartment complexes. It's so helpful hearing from people who have actually been through this and made it to the other side. I'm feeling much more hopeful now that I have a clear action plan. Thanks for the encouragement - I really needed to hear that the money is definitely there waiting!

I went through this exact same situation last year and it was absolutely maddening! My card took 26 days to arrive even though my payments showed "paid" from day one. Here's what I wish I had known from the start: Call Money Network at 1-866-692-9374 EARLY (like 7:30-8:00 AM) - the hold times are much shorter in the morning. Don't waste time calling EDD for this issue since they can't help with the physical cards. If it's been more than 10 business days since your first payment, don't hesitate to request a replacement card with expedited shipping. Yes it costs about $15, but when you have rent due it's absolutely worth it. I waited too long thinking my original card would show up and it just caused more stress. Also check if your apartment complex has a package/mail room where cards might be sitting. Mine was actually there for 3 days before I thought to ask! The silver lining is once you get your card, you can immediately transfer funds to your bank account through the Money Network app, and then set up direct deposit for all future payments. You'll never have to deal with this mail delay nightmare again. Hang in there - your money is definitely secure and waiting for you! This system is broken but you will get through it.

26 days is absolutely insane! I can't believe you had to wait that long. Your advice about calling early is spot on - I've been making the mistake of calling in the afternoon when everyone else is probably doing the same thing. I'm definitely going to set my alarm for 7:30 AM tomorrow and call Money Network first thing. The tip about checking the apartment mail room is so smart too - I never thought they might hold cards there separately from regular mail. At this point I'm ready to just pay the $15 for expedited shipping on a replacement rather than keep waiting and stressing. Thanks for sharing your experience and the reminder that the money is secure - I really needed that reassurance right now!

I'm dealing with this exact same frustrating situation right now! It's been 19 days since my first payment showed "paid" and still no card in sight. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been both reassuring (I'm not alone!) and helpful for getting a game plan together. I'm definitely going to try the early morning calling strategy tomorrow - setting my alarm for 7:45 AM to call Money Network at 1-866-692-9374. It sounds like that's the key to actually getting through to someone who can help. One question for those who have successfully gotten replacement cards - did you have to provide any special verification when requesting the replacement, or was it pretty straightforward once you explained the situation? I'm worried they might give me a hard time since it's technically still within their "expected delivery window" even though 19 days feels like forever when you have bills due. Also planning to check with my apartment complex's leasing office tomorrow to see if they're holding any mail. We have a weird mail setup here so that's definitely worth investigating. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - it's given me hope that this will get resolved soon! The stress of seeing your money just sitting there inaccessible is unreal.

Hey Noah! I just went through this same process about 2 weeks ago, so I can answer your question about requesting a replacement. It was actually really straightforward - no hassle at all! When I called Money Network and explained I'd been waiting over 2 weeks, the rep immediately offered to send a replacement with expedited shipping. They just verified my address and SSN, no pushback whatsoever. Even though 19 days technically falls within their delivery window, they seem to understand that's way too long for people who need access to their benefits. The early morning calling strategy definitely works too - I got through in about 15 minutes calling at 8 AM sharp. Your apartment complex idea is smart too since mail delivery can be weird in complexes. You've got a solid plan - I'm confident you'll get this sorted out tomorrow! The relief when you finally get that card is amazing.

I'm going through the exact same thing right now and it's so stressful! Been waiting 15 days since my first payment was marked as "paid" with no card in sight. Reading everyone's experiences here has been really helpful though - sounds like the key is calling Money Network directly at 1-866-692-9374 early in the morning (around 8 AM) when wait times are shorter. I had no idea you could request expedited shipping on a replacement card for around $15 - that seems totally worth it at this point rather than continuing to stress about when it might show up. Also never thought about checking with my apartment complex's mail room, but that's a great suggestion since mail delivery can be unpredictable in big complexes. It's reassuring to know that once we finally get our cards, we can immediately transfer the funds through the Money Network app and then set up direct deposit to avoid this whole nightmare in the future. Hang in there Sarah - sounds like you have a good plan forming based on everyone's advice!

I'm in the exact same boat as you and Sarah! It's been 17 days for me and I'm getting really anxious about rent. Your plan sounds solid - I'm also going to try the 8 AM calling strategy tomorrow. The $15 expedited shipping fee seems like a no-brainer at this point. I had no idea about the Money Network app transfer option either - that's going to save so much time once we finally get our cards! It's crazy how many of us are dealing with this same issue right now. Thanks for sharing your timeline, it helps to know I'm not the only one stuck in this waiting game.

I'm so sorry you're going through this Sarah! I just went through the exact same situation about a month ago and I know how incredibly stressful it is when you can see your money is there but can't access it. Here's what finally worked for me: Call Money Network at 1-866-692-9374 at exactly 8:00 AM - the wait times are SO much shorter in the morning. I got through in about 10 minutes versus the hours I spent on hold calling later in the day. When you reach them, ask them to confirm your card was actually mailed and get the date it was sent out. If it's been more than 10-12 business days, don't hesitate to request a replacement with expedited shipping. It costs around $15 but honestly it's worth every penny when you have bills due. They can also send the replacement to a different address if you're worried about mail issues at your current place. Also definitely check with your apartment complex's leasing office or mail room - sometimes cards get held there separately from regular mail and you might not even know it's arrived! The good news is once you get your card, you can immediately transfer all your funds to your bank account through the Money Network mobile app, then set up direct deposit for future payments so you never have to deal with this mail delay nightmare again. Hang in there - your money is absolutely safe and this will get resolved! The system is frustrating but you're not alone in dealing with this.

Thank you so much Abigail! This is exactly the kind of detailed advice I needed to hear. I'm definitely setting my alarm for 7:45 AM tomorrow to call Money Network right at 8:00 - it sounds like the early morning timing really makes all the difference. I had no idea the wait times varied so much throughout the day. I'm also going to march down to my apartment complex's leasing office first thing to check if they're holding any mail. At this point I'm ready to pay the $15 for expedited shipping on a replacement card - the peace of mind is worth way more than that when rent is due next week. It's so reassuring to hear from someone who actually made it through this exact situation! Thanks for taking the time to share what worked for you.

I went through this exact same nightmare about 2 months ago and I feel your pain! It's absolutely maddening to see your payments marked as "paid" but not be able to access the money when you have bills due. Here's what finally worked for me: Call Money Network at 1-866-692-9374 at exactly 8:00 AM when they open. I cannot stress this enough - the difference in wait times between calling early morning versus afternoon is night and day. I got through in 12 minutes calling at 8 AM versus being on hold for literally 3+ hours when I tried calling later in the day. When you reach them, ask for these three things: 1. Confirmation that your card was actually mailed and the exact date 2. Verification that your address is 100% correct in their system 3. If it's been more than 10 business days, request a replacement with expedited shipping The expedited replacement costs about $15 but it's absolutely worth it - you'll get it in 2-3 business days instead of waiting potentially weeks more. They can also send it to a different address if you want it sent to a friend or family member's house for more reliable delivery. Also definitely check with your apartment complex's leasing office or mail room tomorrow. My card was actually sitting there for 4 days before I thought to ask! Once you finally get your card, you can instantly transfer all the funds to your bank account through the Money Network app, then immediately set up direct deposit through your EDD account so you never have to deal with this mail delay nightmare again. Your money is definitely safe and this will get resolved - the system is just incredibly frustrating. Hang in there!

This is such incredibly helpful and detailed advice, thank you Miguel! I'm so glad I found this thread because I was starting to panic thinking something was seriously wrong with my claim. Your step-by-step approach gives me exactly what I need to tackle this tomorrow morning. I'm definitely setting multiple alarms to make sure I call Money Network at exactly 8:00 AM - the difference in wait times you described is crazy but makes total sense. I love that you broke down the exact three things to ask for when I get through. At this point I'm absolutely ready to pay the $15 for expedited shipping rather than keep stressing about when it might randomly show up. And I never would have thought to check with my apartment complex's leasing office, but that could totally be where it's sitting! It's so reassuring to hear from someone who went through this exact same frustrating experience and came out the other side. Thanks for taking the time to share such detailed advice - it gives me real hope that I'll have this resolved by the end of the week!
