Money Network card stuck in limbo - 3 weeks and nothing from EDD

Okay so I certified for my benefits THREE weeks ago and still no sign of my new Money Network debit card. This is insane! Website says benefits were paid but how am I supposed to access the money?? I've tried calling Money Network literally 12 times now and either get disconnected or stuck in an endless robot loop. Pressing 0 doesn't work, yelling 'representative' doesn't work, NOTHING works! Is anyone else having this problem? How long did it take for your card to arrive? My rent is due next week and I'm seriously panicking. My old BofA card from previous claim doesn't work anymore since EDD switched to this new system. Help!!!

The Money Network cards are taking longer than expected to arrive for many people. Have you checked your address is correct in your UI Online account? Sometimes the delay is because they're sending it to an old address. Also, did you receive any email confirmation that your card was actually shipped? They're supposed to send one when the card is processed.

My address is definitely correct - double checked it twice. And nope, no email about the card being shipped. The only thing I got was an email saying my payment was processed. That was 22 days ago!!

I had this exact problem in January. The trick is to call Money Network early in the morning (like 7:01am when they open) and IMMEDIATELY press 1, then 4, then 2, then 3. This sequence bypasses their stupid menu and gets you to a person usually within 10-15 minutes. They can tell you if your card was actually mailed and when. If it's been more than 10 business days since mailing, they can expedite a replacement (takes 3-5 business days). The regular shipping is taking 14-21 business days for some reason.

OMG thank you for this!!! Will try first thing tomorrow morning. Did they charge you for the expedited replacement? I literally can't wait another 3 weeks.

money network is THE WORST!!!! i havent been able to get my $$ for almost a month. their website keeps crashing too when i try to check status. EDD needs to get rid of them and go back to BofA or let us just do direct deposit like normal states!!

California is actually planning to implement direct deposit this year, but it's still in development. Until then, Money Network is unfortunately the only option.

I was in this same situation and wasted DAYS trying to reach Money Network. After my 9th attempt I tried Claimyr (claimyr.com) to reach EDD directly instead - they got me through to an actual EDD rep in about 20 minutes. The EDD agent was able to confirm my card had been issued but was stuck in processing. They pushed it through on their end and I got my card 4 days later. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km - definitely worth it when you're desperate to get your benefits.

I've never heard of Claimyr. Did you have to talk to EDD or can they help with Money Network directly? At this point I'm desperate enough to try anything.

It only helps you reach EDD directly. But that's actually better because EDD has more authority to resolve card issues than Money Network customer service does. The EDD rep I spoke with told me they can flag accounts for priority card processing when there are extended delays.

Took 5 weeks for my card to show up. Called like 20 times. Finally got through after waiting 2 hours on hold. The lady said they had a "system issue" affecting thousands of cards. This was back in February so I thought they fixed it by now. Guess not. Good luck!

For anyone dealing with Money Network card delays, here's the official information: First-time cards should arrive within 7-10 business days (not calendar days). Replacement cards take 7-14 business days with standard shipping. If you haven't received your card after 10 business days, you need to contact EDD (not Money Network) to verify your mailing address and confirm the card was actually ordered. If EDD confirms everything is correct, then you can request Money Network to expedite a replacement card (costs $15 deducted from your balance). This information comes directly from the EDD website and my experience working with clients as a benefit counselor.

Thank you for this detailed info. So you're saying I need to contact EDD first before Money Network can help me? That makes the situation even more complicated since EDD is impossible to reach by phone.

Yes, unfortunately that's the correct process. EDD needs to verify your card was properly ordered in their system before Money Network can issue a replacement. The $15 fee for expedited shipping can sometimes be waived if you explain the hardship it's causing, but that's at their discretion.

Just wanted to update - I called today using the number sequence I mentioned and got through in about 8 minutes. The rep confirmed my card was actually mailed 18 days ago. They asked if I wanted to report it lost and get a replacement (which would take another 10+ days) or expedite a new one for $15 that would arrive in 3 business days. I chose the expedited option and they're sending it out today. Hope this helps others!

That's great to hear! I tried your number sequence this morning but still couldn't get through - kept getting disconnected after entering all the numbers. I'm going to try the Claimyr service to reach EDD directly since it sounds like they might be able to help more than Money Network at this point.

I went through this exact nightmare last month! Here's what finally worked for me: I contacted my state assemblyperson's office and filed a complaint about the delayed benefits. Within 48 hours, someone from EDD called me directly and expedited my card at no charge. It arrived 3 days later. Most people don't know that elected officials' offices have direct lines to EDD for constituent services. You can find your assemblyperson on the CA legislature website - just enter your zip code. They deal with EDD issues all the time and actually get results. Worth trying while you're also attempting the other suggestions here!

Wow, I had no idea that contacting your assemblyperson's office was even an option for EDD issues! This is really helpful information. I'm definitely going to try this along with the other suggestions. It's crazy that we have to go through elected officials to get basic unemployment benefits that we're entitled to, but if it works I'm all for it. Thanks for sharing your experience - gives me hope that there's actually a way to resolve this mess!
