EDD payment received but no Money Network card - need replacement card ASAP

I got my first unemployment payment on August 30th but I still haven't received my Money Network debit card after 3 weeks! The payment shows as 'paid' in my UI Online account but I have no way to access the funds. Is there a specific phone number to request a new card? And I'm confused - are they still using old Bank of America cards somehow? My previous claim from 2019 had a BofA card but I thought EDD switched to Money Network completely. Really stressed about this as I've got bills piling up and can't access my benefits!

You need to contact Money Network directly at 1-800-240-0223 to check on your card status or request a replacement. The first card typically takes 7-10 business days to arrive, but sometimes there are delays. They can expedite a replacement card for you (though they might charge a fee for that). And no, BofA cards are completely phased out - all new payments only go to Money Network cards now.

Thank you! I'll call them right away. Do you know if they can tell me if a card was already sent and maybe got lost in the mail? Or if there was some issue with my address?

Oh no! How did you fix it? Did you have to call EDD or Money Network?

The Money Network cards are notorious for taking forever to arrive. When I had this issue, I called Money Network directly (1-800-240-0223), verified my identity, and they confirmed they'd already mailed a card but agreed to send a replacement. It cost $10 for expedited shipping but was worth it since I got it in 3 business days. One thing to check - make sure your address in UI Online exactly matches what you gave when you filed your claim. Even small differences can cause card delivery issues.

IS THE MONEY NETWORK NUMBER EVEN WORKING??? I've called FIFTEEN TIMES today and either get disconnected or stuck on hold forever!! This is RIDICULOUS! My payment was issued THREE WEEKS AGO and still no card! How can they just hold our money hostage like this?!?!

Their phone system is definitely frustrating. The best times to call are either right when they open at 8am or in the mid-afternoon around 2-3pm. Avoid calling on Mondays if possible - those are their busiest days.

I had the exact same problem last month. Payments showing but no card for weeks. I tried calling Money Network multiple times but could never get through - constant busy signals or disconnects after waiting on hold. I finally got through to an EDD rep using Claimyr (claimyr.com) which got me past the busy signals. The EDD agent confirmed my card had been issued but then connected me directly to a Money Network supervisor who arranged expedited shipping for my replacement. Definitely worth watching their demo video to see how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The Money Network supervisor told me they're still dealing with huge backlogs and address verification issues from the big system changeover from BofA.

Thanks for the suggestion! I hadn't heard of Claimyr before. I'll try the regular Money Network number first, but if I can't get through I might try that service. I really need to get this resolved this week.

When I got my unemployment last year, the card situation was so confusing. I thought they'd reuse my old card too, but they don't. Bank of America is completely done with EDD now. I remember waiting forever for that Money Network card while my benefits just sat there unavailable. So frustrating!

The regular mail has been super slow in my area lately. My neighbor just got a birthday card that was mailed 3 weeks ago! Maybe check with your local post office? Also, Money Network doesn't always update the shipping status properly on their end.

That's a good point about the mail. I've had other delays with packages recently. I'll definitely check with Money Network first to see if they even sent it though.

Just to follow up on this thread - once you get your card, I highly recommend setting up direct deposit from Money Network to your personal bank account. It's much more convenient than using the card, and you avoid any ATM fees or card replacement hassles in the future. You can set it up through the Money Network mobile app or their website after activating your card.

That's really helpful advice - I didn't know you could set up direct deposit from the Money Network card to my regular bank account. I'll definitely do that once I finally get the card. Thanks!

I went through this exact same situation about 6 months ago! The waiting is absolutely maddening when you can see your payment was issued but can't access it. A few tips that helped me: 1. Call Money Network at 1-800-240-0223 early morning (8-9am) or mid-afternoon - avoid Mondays and Fridays if possible 2. When you call, ask them to verify your mailing address matches exactly what's on file with EDD 3. If the card was already sent and potentially lost, they can cancel it and expedite a replacement (usually $10 fee but worth it) 4. Keep your UI Online account handy when you call - they'll ask for your SSN and may need your claim details The whole BofA to Money Network transition has been rocky, so you're definitely not alone in this. Most people I know had some kind of delay or issue with their first card. Hang in there - once you get it sorted, future payments should be much smoother!

This is super helpful, thank you! I'm definitely going to try calling first thing tomorrow morning. The part about verifying the address is really important - I did move recently and want to make sure everything matches up. It's reassuring to hear that other people have gotten through this same mess. Really appreciate the detailed advice!

I had a similar issue earlier this year! Three weeks is definitely too long - the card should arrive within 7-10 business days max. Here's what worked for me: Call Money Network at 1-800-240-0223 first thing in the morning (around 8am). Have your SSN ready and tell them you never received your initial card. They can check if it was sent to the correct address and immediately cancel/reorder if needed. Also double-check that your address in UI Online exactly matches what you put on your original claim. Even something like "Street" vs "St" can cause delivery issues. If you can't get through to Money Network (their phone system can be brutal), you might need to contact EDD directly to have them reach out to Money Network on your behalf. The whole transition from BofA has been messy, but once you get the card it should be smooth sailing. Don't give up - your money is there waiting for you!

Thanks for the detailed advice! The address matching thing is really important - I actually did update my address in UI Online after I filed my initial claim, so there might be a mismatch. I'm going to call Money Network first thing tomorrow at 8am with all my info ready. It's good to know that once this gets sorted out, future payments should be easier. Really appreciate everyone's help in this thread!

I'm dealing with this exact same situation right now! Got my payment issued on September 15th but still no Money Network card after 2.5 weeks. It's so stressful seeing the money sitting there but not being able to access it. Based on what everyone's saying, I'm going to try calling Money Network at 1-800-240-0223 tomorrow morning right at 8am. I also just realized I might have an address issue - I moved apartments within the same complex and updated my address in UI Online, but I'm worried there might be a mismatch with what EDD originally had on file. Has anyone had luck getting through to Money Network on their first try, or does it usually take multiple attempts? I'm prepared to keep calling but just want to set realistic expectations. Thanks for all the advice in this thread - it's really helpful to know I'm not the only one dealing with this mess!
