EDD Money Network card delay - anyone actually received the new cards yet?
I've been waiting on my new EDD Money Network card for almost 3 weeks now. My benefits were approved and I can see the funds are available in my account according to UI Online, but I still haven't received the actual debit card in the mail. The EDD representative I spoke with (after like 50 calls) said all new cards are now being issued through Money Network instead of Bank of America, and there might be delays with the transition. Has anyone here actually received their new Money Network card yet? How long did it take after your claim was approved? I'm starting to worry mine got lost in the mail or something. The rep said I could request a replacement, but that would take even longer and might cancel my current one that's supposedly on the way. I've got bills piling up and really need access to these funds ASAP.

Still waiting on mine too!! Been 18 days since my claim was approved and NOTHING in the mail. This new Money Network system is a total disaster. BofA cards used to arrive within a week tops.

•Did they give you any tracking info or estimate for delivery? I can't even get a straight answer about when it was supposedly mailed out.

mine came yesterday after waiting almost 4 weeks. don't bother calling edd about it they don't know anything. you have to call money network directly at the number on the edd website. the card comes in a plain white envelope easy to miss!

•Thanks for the tip about the plain envelope! I'll keep an eye out. Did you have to activate it through the Money Network app or website after you got it?

There's definitely been a backlog with the new Money Network cards. According to what I've heard from several EDD personnel, the Money Network transition has been causing 2-4 week delays in card issuance, significantly longer than the old Bank of America cards. While waiting, I recommend setting up your Money Network account online in advance. You can do this at moneynetwork.com/edd before your card arrives. This way you'll be ready to access your funds immediately when the card arrives. Also, once you receive your card, consider setting up direct deposit to your personal bank account to avoid future delays. The Money Network system allows this, unlike the previous BofA system which required manual transfers.

•Thanks for the advice! I tried creating an account on moneynetwork.com/edd but it says I need the card number to register. Is there another way to set it up in advance that I'm missing?

•You're right - I apologize for the confusion. You do need the card number to complete registration. What you can do is create a Money Network account with your email, and then link your card when it arrives. This speeds up the process slightly, but you still need the physical card to access funds. In the meantime, if you're experiencing extreme financial hardship, you might consider calling EDD and requesting an emergency transfer. They have limited ability to help, but in some cases can expedite card delivery or provide alternative payment methods for those in dire situations.

I GOT MINE FINALLY!!!! But it took FIVE AND A HALF WEEKS!!! And I only got it after I spent 3 days trying to reach EDD to complain. This is ridiculous honestly. My landlord was ready to evict me while the stupid card was floating around somewhere. Money Network is THE WORST.

•Five weeks?? That's insane! I'm on week 3 of waiting and running out of patience. How did you finally get through to EDD? Every time I call I get the "we're experiencing high call volume" message and get disconnected.

•I called literally 27 times in one day. Started at 8:01am and just kept redialing. It's stupid we have to do this!! The whole system is broken!!

I've been helping several clients navigate this Money Network transition. The delays seem to be pretty consistent across the board. Here's what I've found works best: 1. Don't request a replacement until at least 4 weeks have passed - requesting too early can actually restart the clock 2. Call Money Network directly (not EDD) at 1-888-392-0373 as they can see if your card has been mailed and when 3. Make sure your address is 100% correct in UI Online - even minor differences can cause delivery issues 4. Once you receive the card, immediately set up direct deposit to your bank account so you won't be dependent on the card for future payments The transition from Bank of America to Money Network has definitely created a bottleneck in the system, but Money Network actually offers better features once you're set up.

•I'll try calling Money Network directly tomorrow. My address is definitely correct - I double checked it multiple times in UI Online. Do you know if they can expedite shipping on existing cards if I explain my situation?

•Money Network generally can't expedite existing cards already in the mail system, but they can tell you exactly when it was mailed, which gives you a better timeline. In extreme situations (like if it's been more than 4 weeks), they can cancel the existing card and send a replacement with expedited shipping, but there's usually a fee for this service, around $15-20 which comes out of your benefits.

my brothers wifes cousin got her card in only 9 days so i think maybe it depends on your location? we're in sacramento area. have you checked with your local post office? sometimes they hold them.

•9 days??!! That's not fair! I'm in San Diego and everyone I know here is waiting 3+ weeks minimum. Maybe Money Network is prioritizing Northern California for some reason?

After dealing with this exact issue last month, I stumbled across Claimyr when trying to reach an EDD rep about my missing card. They got me connected to an actual EDD representative in about 18 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. The rep was able to confirm my card had been mailed and gave me the exact date, which helped ease my anxiety. Check out their demo video: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km - their service at claimyr.com seriously saved me days of frustration. Just having confirmation about my card status was worth it.

•I'm getting desperate enough to try anything at this point. Does Claimyr work for connecting to Money Network too, or just EDD? I'll check out that video.

•It's specifically for connecting with EDD representatives. Money Network actually has shorter wait times in my experience, but the EDD reps have more information about your overall claim status and can sometimes help push things along with the card issuance if there's a specific problem.

i been on unemployment 3 times over the years and this money network switch is BY FAR the worst change theyve ever made. my cousin works at the post office and she says they are getting TONS of calls about these cards not showing up. might be a bigger issue than just edd being slow.

•The whole thing is a mess!!! Why did they switch from Bank of America anyway? That system worked fine! Always following the money I guess. Someone's cousin probably owns Money Network lol.

UPDATE: I just spoke with an EDD supervisor about this issue. They confirmed there is indeed a significant backlog with Money Network cards, especially for new claims. The current estimated timeline they're giving is: - 2-3 weeks for new claims in Northern California - 3-4 weeks for new claims in Southern California - 4-5 weeks for replacement cards statewide The supervisor also mentioned that if it's been more than 4 weeks, you should request a replacement card, and they can sometimes expedite in hardship situations. They're aware of the problems and supposedly working on solutions, including potentially offering direct deposit options directly from EDD without requiring the card first, but that's still in development.

•Thanks for sharing this info! I'm in Southern California so I guess 3-4 weeks is normal... I'm hitting 3 weeks tomorrow. Did they mention anything about whether calling Money Network directly can help track the card?

•Yes, Money Network can definitely confirm if and when your card was mailed. They can also tell you if there were any issues with the mailing address. If you call them, have your EDD Customer Account Number ready (from your award letter or UI Online account), as they may need this to locate your account in their system.
