EDD Money Network card stuck in limbo - shipped 3 weeks ago but still no delivery

I'm getting really frustrated with this Money Network transition. My previous BofA card stopped working last month, and EDD supposedly sent my new Money Network card on February 5th according to the rep I finally reached. It's been almost a month now and still nothing in my mailbox! I've got bills piling up and can't access any of my unemployment funds. The customer service rep said it should take 7-10 business days, but we're WAY past that timeline now. Has anyone else experienced super long delays with their Money Network card delivery? Should I request a replacement card already or keep waiting? Beginning to wonder if it got lost in the mail or sent to an old address somehow.

3 weeks is still better than what I'm dealing with! It's been 25 days since they supposedly shipped it. Did you have to do anything special to activate yours when it finally arrived?

Unfortunately, the Money Network cards have been experiencing significant shipping delays during the transition period. Here's what you should do: 1. Call Money Network customer service directly at 1-888-964-1170 to check the exact status of your card (not the EDD general line) 2. Verify they have your correct mailing address on file 3. If it's been more than 15 business days, request they expedite a replacement card Also, once you do receive it, remember to download the Money Network mobile app to manage your account. It's much more user-friendly than the old BofA system.

Thank you! I didn't realize I should be calling Money Network directly instead of EDD. Will try that number tomorrow morning.

THIS TRANSITION IS A DISASTER!! My card was supposedly mailed January 28th and I just got it YESTERDAY. That's OVER A MONTH with no access to MY MONEY! I called EDD 17 times and got disconnected every single time. When I finally reached someone, they just told me to "be patient" like I don't have rent and utilities due. The whole system is designed to make us suffer!

COMPENSATION? Ha! They acted like they were doing me a favor by eventually sending what's rightfully mine! No apology, no interest, nothing for the late fees I had to pay on bills. The system is BROKEN.

I had a similar issue when I got my last certification payment. Ended up using Claimyr to get through to an actual EDD rep after spending days trying on my own. The service connected me to an agent in about 20 minutes when I couldn't get through at all before. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km that shows how it works. The rep I spoke with was able to see exactly when my card was mailed and helped expedite a replacement since the original was clearly lost. Worth checking out if you keep hitting dead ends with the regular phone number.

Thanks for the suggestion! At this point I'm willing to try anything. Did the EDD rep you reached through that service have more information than the Money Network customer service?

Yes, definitely. The EDD rep could see everything about my claim AND they could submit an internal request to Money Network that seemed to get prioritized. The Money Network reps I tried calling directly just kept reading from scripts and couldn't actually help speed anything up.

Just to clarify something important about the Money Network cards that might be causing confusion - they're being mailed in batches based on last name AND region. When the rep told you February 5th, that might have been when your batch was processed, not necessarily mailed. I work in financial services (not for EDD) and can tell you the actual mail date could be 5-7 business days after processing. Also, if you've moved recently or had mail forwarding set up, these cards CANNOT be forwarded by USPS due to security protocols. They'll be returned to sender, which starts the whole process over again.

Omg this explains why I never got mine! I moved 2 months ago and did mail forwarding but never thought about the card being returned!!! Thank u so much for this info, i'm calling them right away to update my address. Been waiting for almost 7 weeks thinking it was just delayed!!

I hadn't moved, so that shouldn't be the issue for me. But it's good information about the batch processing vs. actual mail date. The rep wasn't clear about that distinction at all.

When I was on unemployment last year, my sister and I both had claims and lived at the same address. Her card came a whole 2.5 weeks before mine even though we certified on the same days. The Money Network distribution seems really random. Have you tried checking your balance on the Money Network website? Sometimes you can access funds through direct deposit options before the physical card arrives.

I didn't even know I could check my balance without the card! Do you happen to know the website where I can try to set that up? Maybe I can at least transfer some money while waiting for this card situation to resolve.

Try https://www.moneynetwork.com/login and use the "First Time User" option. You'll need your claim info and SSN. I think you can set up direct deposit transfers to your personal bank after verification, but not 100% sure since the system has changed since I used it.

UPDATE: Just wanted to follow up based on some information I received today. EDD is now aware of significant delivery delays with a batch of Money Network cards processed in early February. They're working with Money Network to resolve the issue. If your card was supposedly shipped around February 5th, you're likely part of this affected group. The official recommendation now is to request a replacement card if it's been more than 20 business days since the initial mail date. The replacement cards are being expedited and should arrive within 5-7 business days.
