EDD Money Network card still not arrived after claim changed to paid - typical wait times?

My EDD claim finally switched from pending to paid status about 3 days ago (after nearly 6 weeks of waiting!) and I'm getting anxious about receiving my Money Network card. I've never collected unemployment before, so I have no idea what's normal. I called Money Network customer service this morning, and they confirmed they have my information and there's a card on file for me, but the rep couldn't tell me when it was mailed or when I should expect it. They just gave me a vague 'it takes time' response. Is anyone else experiencing delays with getting their card right now? How long did yours take to arrive after your claim changed to paid? I'm starting to worry it got lost in the mail or something...

Thanks for the response! 10 days isn't too bad I guess. Did they notify you when it was mailed or did it just show up?

The standard timeline for receiving your Money Network card is 7-10 business days after your first payment is processed. Remember that's business days, not calendar days. Since your claim just changed to paid 3 days ago, you're still well within the normal timeframe. \n\nOne thing to keep in mind: Even while waiting for your card, your payments are accumulating on it. So when it arrives, you'll have access to all funds that have been paid out so far. \n\nIf it doesn't arrive by the 10-business-day mark, you can request a replacement card, but I wouldn't worry just yet!

Thank you, that's really helpful! I was stressing because I've got some bills coming up. Good to know all my payments will be there when the card finally shows up.

Three weeks?! That's crazy long. Did you end up doing anything to speed up the process or just had to wait it out?

Just had to wait it out. Called every other day but nothing helped. They don't care if we have bills to pay!!!

Actually, I learned the hard way that the mailing process can vary significantly depending on where you're located. For most people, 7-10 business days is standard, but I've seen it take anywhere from 5-15 business days. \n\nA few tips that might help:\n\n1. Double-check that your mailing address is correct in your UI Online account\n2. If it's been over 10 business days, request a replacement card (but they might charge a $10 fee)\n3. You can set up direct deposit once you get your card to avoid this issue for future payments\n\nAlso worth noting that during high-volume periods (like the beginning of the month), processing and mail times can be longer.

I definitely want to set up direct deposit once I get the card. Good point about checking my address - just did that and it's correct in the system. I'll give it another week before panicking!

That's because the whole system is a JOKE. Same apartment building but different delivery times?? Makes no sense!

I had the EXACT same issue back in January! My claim switched to paid but then waiting for that stupid card was nerve-wracking. I ended up trying to reach EDD directly to see if they could provide more info than Money Network, but you know how impossible it is to get through to an actual person at EDD.\n\nFinally found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes instead of spending days redialing. The rep confirmed my card had been mailed 3 days after my first payment processed and gave me a much clearer timeline. They have a demo video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km\n\nFor what it's worth, my card arrived 9 days after my first payment, right when the EDD rep said it would. The peace of mind from knowing it was actually on the way was worth it though!

I've been trying to call EDD with no luck at all! Might check out that service if my card doesn't show up in the next few days. It would be nice to at least know if it's been mailed yet.

@profile5 Yeah, I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. I think they just have some system that navigates the phone tree and holds your place in line. All I know is I wasn't making any progress calling on my own for days.

Quick update on my earlier comment - I forgot to mention that once you do receive your card, make sure to activate it immediately through the Money Network mobile app or their website. This not only secures your card but lets you monitor your balance and transactions. Some people don't realize they can set up alerts for deposits and withdrawals too, which is helpful for keeping track of your benefits.

Thanks for the additional tips! I'll definitely download the app as soon as my card arrives.

Oh that's rough! I double-checked and my address is correct in the system, so hopefully that won't happen to me.
