EDD Money Network card shipping time after payment shows PAID?

So EDD finally switched my claim status from pending to PAID this past Saturday (praise the unemployment gods!!). This is my first time on unemployment and I've never received a Money Network card before. I'm getting super anxious about when the card will actually arrive since my rent is due next week. Does anyone know how long it takes for the card to ship after funds show as paid? Is there any way to track the card shipping status? I'm really hoping it arrives by Friday at the latest!! The EDD website is so vague about the timeline. Any info would be SUPER appreciated!

The Money Network card typically ships 1-3 business days after your first payment shows as paid. Once shipped, it generally takes 5-7 business days to arrive via USPS. So if your payment went to paid status on Saturday, the card was probably shipped Monday or Tuesday, meaning you should receive it by early next week at the latest. You can call Money Network directly at 1-866-692-9374 to check on your card status once it's been 3 business days since your payment was issued.

Thank you so much!! I'll give them a call tomorrow if it doesn't come in today's mail. Really hoping it comes before rent is due. Do you know if there's a way to expedite shipping or anything?

When I got my card last year, it arrived exactly 7 business days after my first payment. But I've heard some people are getting them faster now. If you're really worried about the timing, you can request an expedited card by calling Money Network, but they charge like $10-15 for that service which they'll deduct from your balance. Once you have the card, I suggest setting up direct deposit to your bank account for future payments - it's so much faster!

That's good to hear! I had no idea I could request expedited shipping. Might be worth the fee honestly if it means getting it before rent is due. And yes, setting up direct deposit is the FIRST thing I'm doing once I get the card!

Omg thank you for the warning! I definitely would have assumed it was junk mail or a credit card offer or something. Will keep an eye out for ANY mail from now on!

If you need to speak with EDD before your card arrives to check on anything, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They helped me get through to an EDD rep when I had issues with my card not arriving. They have a system that keeps calling EDD until they get through, then they connect you to the agent. Saved me hours of frustration with busy signals. They have a video demo here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

I hadn't heard of this service before! I tried calling EDD yesterday and got nowhere. If I can't get answers from Money Network tomorrow I might try this. Has anyone else used it?

I used Claimyr last month when my card was lost and I needed a replacement. Got through to EDD in about 20 minutes instead of spending days calling. Worth it for the peace of mind.

you know what the REAL problem is????? EDD PURPOSELY makes this process confusing to discourage people from collecting benefits WE PAID INTO THE SYSTEM FOR!!!! why can't they just give us a tracking # like every other company on earth???????

I hear your frustration, but it's actually Money Network that handles the card distribution, not EDD directly. The cards are sent through regular USPS mail, which is why there's no tracking. It's definitely an outdated system though, especially when direct deposit is available after the first payment.

My card arrived exactly 9 days after my first payment posted. But my cousin got hers in like 5 days just last month. The whole system seems random honestly. If you're really worried about rent, you might want to call your landlord and explain the situation. Most are understanding if you communicate in advance.

That's good advice about talking to my landlord. I'm going to call them tomorrow and explain the situation. Hopefully they'll be understanding about a potential few days delay!

UPDATE: Once you get your card, I highly recommend downloading the Money Network mobile app. You can set up alerts for when payments post, transfer money to your bank account, and check your balance. Makes the whole process much more manageable for future payments.

IT CAME TODAY!!! Just checked my mail and the card was there! Such a relief. Thanks everyone for your help and advice. Downloading the app now!

Great news! Make sure you activate it right away and set up that direct deposit for future payments. Glad it worked out before your rent was due!

Congrats on getting your card! For anyone else waiting, I just wanted to add that you can also check your local post office if you're really anxious about delivery timing. I had mine held at the post office for pickup when I was worried about mail theft in my area. Just call your local branch and ask if they can hold mail from Money Network - they were super helpful when I explained it was my unemployment card.

That's a great tip about having mail held at the post office! I never thought of that option. For future reference, does anyone know if you can request delivery confirmation when the card is shipped? I know some people have issues with mail getting lost or stolen, especially in apartment complexes. It would be nice to have some way to confirm delivery even if we can't track the shipping itself.

I don't think you can request delivery confirmation for the initial card shipment since it's handled automatically by Money Network through regular USPS mail. However, if you ever need a replacement card, you can usually pay extra for expedited shipping with tracking. Another option is to sign up for USPS Informed Delivery - it's free and shows you images of mail coming to your address each day, so at least you'd know when to expect the Money Network envelope!

Just want to chime in as someone who's been through this process twice now - the waiting is definitely the worst part! I've found that Money Network cards usually arrive within 7-10 business days after your payment shows as paid, but it can vary. One thing I learned is that you can actually call Money Network customer service and they'll tell you the date your card was mailed out, even if they can't provide tracking. Also, pro tip: once you get your card, you can set up text alerts through the Money Network app to get notified immediately when future payments are deposited. Makes the whole process way less stressful! Hang in there - sounds like you're in the home stretch now that your payment went through!

This is really helpful advice! I'm actually going through this same situation right now - my payment just switched to PAID yesterday and I'm anxiously waiting for the card. The idea about calling Money Network to get the mail date is great, I had no idea they could provide that info even without tracking. And yes, the waiting is absolutely torture when you have bills due! Thanks for the reassurance that 7-10 business days is typical - gives me a better timeline to work with.

Hey everyone! I'm actually in a very similar situation right now - my payment just switched to PAID this morning and I'm also freaking out about timing since I have rent due next week too! Reading through all these responses has been super helpful and reassuring. It sounds like most people get their cards within that 7-10 business day window, though some get lucky with faster delivery. I'm definitely going to try calling Money Network in a few days to get the mailing date like Connor suggested, and I had no idea about the USPS Informed Delivery service - signing up for that right now! Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and tips. It's so stressful being in limbo like this but hearing from people who've been through it successfully really helps calm the nerves. Fingers crossed we both get our cards soon! 🤞

Welcome to the waiting game club! 😅 I totally get the anxiety - I just went through this exact same thing a few months ago. The good news is that based on everyone's experiences here, it sounds like you're both likely to get your cards well before rent is due if your payments just switched to PAID. I'd definitely recommend the USPS Informed Delivery too - it at least gives you a heads up about what's coming in the mail each day so you're not constantly checking your mailbox! And don't forget what others mentioned about talking to your landlord if you're cutting it close - most are pretty understanding about unemployment delays if you give them a heads up. You've got this! The hardest part (getting approved and paid) is already done.

Just wanted to share my recent experience since I see some new folks going through the same stress! I got my card exactly 6 business days after my payment switched to PAID, which was actually faster than I expected based on what I'd read online. One thing that really helped my anxiety was setting up USPS Informed Delivery like others mentioned - being able to see a preview of my mail each morning meant I knew exactly when to expect it instead of obsessively checking my mailbox multiple times a day. Also, don't panic if the envelope looks super plain and unofficial - mine literally looked like junk mail and I almost tossed it! For anyone still waiting, the Money Network customer service line (1-866-692-9374) was actually pretty helpful when I called to confirm my card had been mailed. They couldn't give me tracking but they did confirm the date it was sent out, which helped me estimate arrival. Hang in there - the waiting is brutal but it does end!

Thanks for sharing your timeline! 6 business days is actually pretty encouraging to hear. I'm on day 3 since my payment switched to PAID and getting more anxious by the hour 😅 The USPS Informed Delivery tip keeps coming up so I definitely need to sign up for that ASAP. And good point about the plain envelope - I probably would have thrown it away thinking it was a credit card offer or something! Did you have to activate the card right away or could you wait a bit before using it?

You'll want to activate it pretty much right away once you get it! I think you have like 30 days to activate but there's no reason to wait - you can activate it online or by calling the number on the card. The activation process is super quick, maybe 5 minutes tops. Once it's activated you can use it immediately or transfer the funds to your bank account if you prefer. I actually transferred mine to my checking account right after activating since I find that easier to manage than keeping track of a separate card. Just make sure you have all your info handy when you activate - they'll ask for your SSN, date of birth, and the card details.

I'm currently in this exact same boat - my payment switched to PAID on Wednesday and I'm desperately hoping the card arrives before my rent is due on Monday! Reading through everyone's experiences here has been both reassuring and nerve-wracking at the same time 😅 It sounds like the 7-10 business day window is pretty standard, though some folks get lucky with faster delivery. I just signed up for USPS Informed Delivery based on all the recommendations here - such a good tip! Also planning to call Money Network tomorrow to see if they can at least tell me when it was mailed out. The waiting game is absolutely brutal when you have bills hanging over your head. Thanks to everyone who shared their timelines and advice - it really helps to know others have made it through this stressful process successfully!

Hang in there! I'm in a similar situation - just went through this whole process last month and the anxiety is real when you have rent due! The good news is that if your payment switched to PAID on Wednesday, you're likely looking at getting your card by early next week, which should work out perfectly for your Monday rent deadline. Most people seem to get their cards within that 7-10 business day window, and since you're already on day 3, you're well within the typical timeframe. Definitely call Money Network tomorrow like you planned - even just knowing the mail date helps with the mental math! And yes, USPS Informed Delivery is a game changer for reducing that daily mailbox anxiety. You've got this - the hardest part (getting approved and paid) is already behind you! 🤞

I just wanted to add another data point for anyone currently waiting! My card arrived exactly 5 business days after my payment switched to PAID, which was on the faster side of what most people are reporting here. One thing I didn't see mentioned is that if you live in an apartment complex or area where mail sometimes gets misdelivered, you might want to give your local post office a heads up that you're expecting an important envelope from Money Network. I actually had a neighbor accidentally get my card and they held onto it for a few days thinking it was junk mail before realizing it wasn't theirs! Also, once you get your card, I'd really recommend setting up that direct deposit ASAP like others mentioned - it makes future payments so much less stressful since the money just appears in your bank account instead of having to wait for mail. The whole process definitely feels overwhelming when you're going through it for the first time, but it does work out!

That's a really good point about letting the post office know to expect the Money Network envelope! I never would have thought of that but it makes total sense, especially in apartment complexes where mail can easily get mixed up. 5 business days is definitely on the faster side - that's encouraging for those of us still waiting! And wow, your neighbor holding onto it thinking it was junk mail is exactly the kind of thing I'm worried about. I'm definitely going to mention to my roommates to be on the lookout for any plain envelopes. Thanks for the tip about setting up direct deposit right away too - seems like that's the unanimous recommendation from everyone who's been through this process!
