Money Network card deposit delay? Paid on EDD portal but funds still missing
I finally got my EDD claim to switch from pending to paid yesterday morning (after 3 weeks of stress!), but the money still hasn't shown up on my Money Network card. The EDD website shows 'paid' status for my certification week, but when I check my card balance online, nothing has changed. How long does this normally take? Is there some processing time between EDD showing 'paid' and the funds actually hitting the card? I've got rent due in 2 days and I'm starting to panic a little. This is my first claim so I have no idea what's normal. Thanks for any help!

Usually takes 24-48 hours after it shows paid on UI Online before it hits ur Money Network. But sometimes it can take up to 3 business days (not counting weekends). When did it exactly change to paid status? If it was yesterday morning, I'd wait til tomorrow before worrying too much.

•It changed to paid yesterday around 10am. Thank you for the timeline! I'll try to be patient until tomorrow afternoon then. Really hoping it comes through before rent is due.

In my experience, it depends on when the payment was processed by EDD. If it switched to paid status before 3pm, you might see it on your card the next business day. If it happened after 3pm, add another business day. Also important - is this your first payment ever on this claim? If yes, it could take a bit longer as they process the initial payment differently. Mine took 3 full business days for the first payment, then subsequent ones were faster (usually next day). Remember that weekends don't count for these timeframes.

•Yes, this is my first payment ever! That might explain it. It switched around 10am yesterday (Monday) so maybe I'll see it by Wednesday if what you're saying is right. Thanks for the detailed explanation.

its actually a bank issue not an edd issue once it says paid. money network sometimes takes FOREVER to process deposits. i hateeee that card so much. switch to direct deposit as soon as u can, its way faster!!!

•This is true - once your payment shows as paid, it's essentially out of EDD's hands and into the banking system. Direct deposit is generally 1-2 days faster than the Money Network card.

Here's exactly how the process works: 1. EDD approves your certification 2. Status changes to PAID in UI Online 3. EDD initiates an ACH transfer to Money Network (usually same day) 4. Money Network processes the deposit (this is where delays happen) 5. Funds appear on your card For first-time payments, Money Network often has additional verification steps that can add 1-2 business days. For a Monday 10am PAID status, you should see funds by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. If Thursday comes and you still don't have the funds, call Money Network directly at the number on the back of your card. They can tell you if the deposit is pending in their system.

•Thank you for breaking down the whole process! That helps me understand what's happening behind the scenes. I'll wait until Thursday morning before I start making calls.

•Friday morning would be cutting it really close for my rent deadline, but at least it would still work! Thanks for sharing your experience - helps to know I'm not alone in this stress lol

If you need to contact EDD directly about this or any payment issues, I highly recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in a similar situation where my payment said paid but wasn't showing up after 4 days. I tried calling EDD for days but couldn't get through. Claimyr got me connected to a real EDD agent within 20 minutes who was able to check what was happening with my payment. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km In my case, there was a flag on my account that was delaying the transfer to Money Network even though it showed paid. The agent removed it and my money arrived the next day.

•Thanks for the suggestion! If I don't see the money by Thursday, I'll definitely check this out. Getting through to an actual person at EDD seems impossible otherwise.

MONEY NETWORK IS THE WORST!!!!! My payments ALWAYS take at least 2-3 days to hit my card after showing paid on UI Online. But one time it took almost a WEEK with no explanation!!! Switch to direct deposit as soon as you can, trust me. I changed over last month and now get my money next day after it shows paid. Night and day difference.

•A WEEK?? That's insane! I'll definitely be switching to direct deposit once this payment comes through. Thanks for the warning about Money Network.

Update us when you get your payment - I'm curious if your first payment timeline matches what most of us experienced. And don't forget to set up a payment notification alert through the Money Network app if you haven't already. That way you'll know immediately when the deposit hits.

•Will do! And thanks for the tip about the notification - I just set that up in the app. At least I won't have to keep checking it constantly now.

•YES!!! The actual EDD processing seems better. It's just the stupid Money Network card that's still slow. My payments go to paid status way faster now too.

•EDD has been working on their processing systems. The pending to paid timeline has improved for most claimants in 2025, but the actual deposit times still depend on your payment method (direct deposit is faster than Money Network).

UPDATE: The money just hit my card this morning (Wednesday)! So that was about 48 hours from when it showed paid on the EDD site. Thanks everyone for the help and calming my nerves. I'm definitely switching to direct deposit for future payments based on all your advice.

•Great news! That's actually pretty standard timing for a first payment. Future payments should be a bit quicker once the system recognizes you as an established claimant.
