EDD payment timing after first UI payment - why is my second certification delayed?

Hi everyone, just got my first EDD payment last Thursday (yay finally!) after waiting almost 3 weeks. I already certified for my next two weeks on Sunday morning like the website told me to. It's now Wednesday and still nothing in my account. My account just shows 'paid' status but no money on my Money Network card. Is this normal for the second payment? The first one took forever but I thought once you're in the system things move faster. Anyone know how long I should expect to wait for payments after certification? Starting to stress because rent is due next week and I was counting on this money.

Second payments usually process much faster than the first. Once you certify, it typically takes 24-48 hours to show as 'paid' in the system, then another 24-48 hours for the money to hit your Money Network card. So about 2-3 days total from certification to payment. If your UI Online shows 'paid' status already, the money should be on your card by tomorrow at the latest. You can always check your card balance directly on the Money Network app rather than just the EDD website.

Thanks! That's reassuring. I didn't know about the Money Network app - I've just been checking the EDD website. I'll download that now. Do you know if all payments take this long or just at the beginning? I need to budget better if this is going to be the regular timeline.

Oh no, that's concerning. Did they tell you why they were holding it? Was there something specific that triggered the verification?

The same thing happened with my second payment. If your UI Online account shows

Not always true. Mine said paid for 2 weeks but then went to pending and I had to do ID verification again. The EDD systems are completely broken half the time. Nothing is guaranteed until the money is actually on your card.

If your status is showing as 'paid' but you don't have the funds yet, it's very likely just the normal processing time between EDD and Money Network. However, if you want to check on the status of your payment, trying to call EDD directly can be frustrating with all the busy signals. I used a service called Claimyr last month when I had a payment issue and they got me connected to an EDD rep within 20 minutes instead of spending days redialing. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km \n\nThe agent was able to tell me exactly when my payment would hit my card, which gave me peace of mind.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give it one more day and if the payment doesn't show up, I'll check out that service. Spending days trying to call sounds awful.

did u check ur spam folder??? sometimes edd sends important emails there

EDD payment notifications don't come by email - they show in UI Online account or the Money Network card notifications. Checking spam won't help with payment timing issues.

This is super helpful and detailed - thank you! Now I understand the whole process better. I'll definitely expect Thursday then, and wait until Friday before getting worried. Really appreciate the explanation!

UPDATE: Just got my payment! Literally showed up while I was reading these comments. So it took exactly 3 business days from certification to payment hitting my card. Thanks everyone for the advice and support!

Great news! This is the typical timeline you can expect going forward. Just remember to certify on time every two weeks (Sundays are best) and you should have a pretty reliable payment schedule from now on. Glad it worked out!
