EDD Money Network card deposit delay - normal timeframes after certification?

Just certified for my weekly benefits yesterday (Sunday) and I'm wondering how long it typically takes for funds to show up on the Money Network card? This is my second certification period but the first time I got paid it seemed super fast (like next day). It's Tuesday morning now and I'm getting a bit anxious since my car payment is due Friday. Is there a normal timeframe I should expect? Does it vary a lot between people? The EDD website just says "allow time for processing" which isn't very helpful!

In my experience, EDD deposits to Money Network cards usually happen within 24-48 hours after certifying, assuming there are no pending issues with your claim. Since you certified on Sunday, you should see the deposit by tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest. You can check the deposit status by logging into your Money Network account online or through their app.

Thanks! I'll keep checking the app. Do holidays affect the timing? There was a holiday yesterday.

Same! Always Monday night for me too, usually between 10-11pm. I think it depends on your last name or claim number or something.

The EDD system is SO INCONSISTENT!!! I've been on unemployment for 6 months and sometimes I get paid in 24 hours, other times it takes 3-4 DAYS with NO EXPLANATION! It's absolutely ridiculous that they expect people to budget when they can't even tell us exactly when we'll get our money!!! And forget calling them to ask about it - you'll waste your ENTIRE DAY trying to get through. The whole system is designed to frustrate people enough to give up!!

Totally. Last month my payment was delayed by almost a week and when I finally got through to someone, they just said "it's processing" with no other info. So helpful 🙄

Yes, Money Network is different from direct deposit. Money Network is the prepaid debit card option that EDD provides if you don't select direct deposit to your personal bank account. Both payment methods typically process in similar timeframes, though some banks may have different processing times for direct deposits.

If your certification status shows "paid" in your UI Online account but the money hasn't hit your Money Network card yet, that's normal. There's typically a 24-48 hour delay between when EDD processes the payment and when it appears on your card. However, if your status still shows "pending" in UI Online, that could indicate an eligibility issue that needs to be resolved before payment is released. A few things to check: 1. Login to UI Online and verify your payment status says "paid" not "pending" 2. Ensure your Money Network card is activated 3. Check that your address is current in both EDD and Money Network systems If your UI Online shows "paid" but nothing arrives by Thursday, that would be unusual and worth contacting EDD about.

Thanks for the detailed info! UI Online does show "paid" with yesterday's date, and my card is definitely activated since I received my first payment on it. I'll give it until Thursday morning before I worry too much.

When I had issues with delayed payments, I spent HOURS trying to call EDD. After 30+ attempts over two days, I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. It was super helpful for checking on my delayed payment and finding out what was causing the hold up. Saved me days of stress and uncertainty.

Does that service actually work? I've heard about it but wasn't sure if it's worth it. The EDD phone system is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!

It worked for me when I was desperate after trying for days on my own. The rep was able to tell me exactly why my payment was delayed and fixed it while I was on the call. Definitely better than burning through my phone battery hitting redial all day.

My brother-in-law just went through this exact same thing! His payment was late this week too, and he was freaking out. Turns out there was some kind of processing delay because of the holiday. It showed up this morning for him!

That's really reassuring to hear! I'll check again when I wake up tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

You're right - certification timing can affect payment speed. Sunday certifications typically process faster than mid-week ones. The EDD system runs certain batch processes on specific days, so certifying early in the window (Sunday-Monday) often results in faster payment processing.

UPDATE: My payment just hit the Money Network card! It came through at 11:15pm tonight. So that was about 48 hours after certification. Thanks everyone for the help and reassurance. Looks like the holiday might have caused a slight delay but it's all good now!

Great news! Yes, holidays can sometimes add an extra day to processing times. Glad it worked out before your car payment was due. For future reference, this timing (48 hours) is pretty standard, so you can plan accordingly for your next certification period.

Good to hear! I still think EDD should be more transparent about these delays instead of making us guess and stress about it!
