Approved EDD payment stuck in limbo after Sunday certification - normal delay?
So I certified for my EDD benefits this past Sunday morning around 8am and my claim status changed to 'approved' almost immediately, which was exciting... but here we are 3 days later and still no money has hit my account. My payment history shows 'paid' status with a payment date of Monday, but my Money Network card hasn't received a deposit yet. Is this a normal delay right now? I'm getting nervous because rent is due next week and I was counting on these funds. Is anyone else experiencing longer than usual wait times between approval and actual payment? This is my 4th certification since being laid off from my sales job, and the previous payments all showed up within 24-48 hours max.

Sometimes the system shows 'paid' but it takes an extra day or two for the Money Network card to actually receive the funds. I've noticed this happens more often around holiday weeks or at the beginning/end of the month when lots of people are certifying at once. If your previous payments came through okay, I wouldn't worry too much yet. Give it one more full business day before panicking.

•That's a relief to hear it's not just me! Do you know if there's a way to check with Money Network directly about pending deposits? The EDD website just shows 'paid' but nothing about when it will actually transfer.

Check if u switched to direct deposit by accident in ur settings. My cousin did that and was waiting for money on his card but it went to his old closed bank account. U should also look if u have any outstanding issues on ur UI homepage that might be flagging ur payment.

•Just checked and I definitely still have the Money Network card selected as my payment method. No outstanding issues showing on my homepage either. Guess I just have to be patient...

•Glad I'm not the only one (though sorry you're dealing with this too). Please update here if your money comes through! I'll do the same.

I've been on UI for about 8 months now and this happened to me twice. Both times it was because of some backend processing issue with Money Network, not EDD. The funds eventually showed up after 3-4 business days instead of the usual 1-2. If you're really concerned, I recommend trying to get through to an EDD rep to confirm everything is okay with your claim. They can see more details about the payment status than what shows on UI Online.

•Ugh good luck getting through to an actual person at EDD! I spent 3 hours last month trying to call about my missing payment and kept getting the "too many callers" message before getting disconnected. The system is a joke.

If you need to reach EDD quickly, try using Claimyr. I was in a similar situation last month with an approved payment that wasn't showing up on my card. Used their service and got connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes instead of spending days calling. The rep confirmed my payment was processing normally but had been flagged for a random review (which they cleared right away). You can see how it works at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km or just go to claimyr.com. Totally worth it when you're stressing about rent!

•Thanks for the tip! If my money doesn't show up by tomorrow afternoon I might give that a try. Did the EDD rep actually help resolve your issue or just give you information?

•The rep was able to see exactly where my payment was in the system and removed the random review flag that was holding it up. Money was on my card the next morning. They can see a lot more details than we can through the website.

I certified on Sunday too and my payment hit my card this morning. Maybe check if you have any outstanding quarterly review forms or additional certification questions that might be delaying things? Sometimes they slip those in without notifying you properly.

UPDATE: My money just hit my card about 10 minutes ago! So that was almost exactly 3 days from when the website showed 'paid' to when it actually arrived. Hopefully yours comes through soon too!

•That's great news! I just checked and mine still isn't there yet, but this gives me hope it's just taking a bit longer than usual. Thanks for updating!

One thing worth mentioning - if this is happening consistently, make sure you don't have any penalty weeks on your claim. When you have penalty weeks, the system will show 'paid' but you won't actually receive the money because it's counting toward your penalty. Just something to check if this becomes a pattern.

•I don't think I have any penalty weeks - what would cause those? I've been reporting all my work search activities correctly each time.

•Penalty weeks usually happen if EDD determined you misreported earnings or work availability in the past. They would have sent you a notice if you had them. Since your previous payments came through normally, it's unlikely this is your issue - just something to be aware of for future reference.

Sometimes the Money Network system just gets backed up. It's technically a separate entity from EDD, so once EDD shows 'paid,' the delay is on the Money Network side. You might want to check if the Money Network website or app shows pending deposits - sometimes they have more up-to-date information than what EDD shows.

UPDATE: My money finally came through this morning! That was about 4 days from certification to actual deposit. Seems like there's just a longer processing time happening right now. Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance!

•Glad it came through! The system is so unpredictable these days... I'm dreading having to certify this weekend.

•Great news! For future reference, always give it at least 3-4 business days before worrying. The EDD system has gotten better but it's still not perfect with payment timing.
